Oh wow, that's super of them. Axiom Verge is a game I have kind of wanted to buy for a while, but I'll certainly buy it now based on this.

Wow, this is really impressive! Especially seeing how some publishers have been acting here of late. Axiom Verge is a great game on its own ( I have it for PS4, Vita, and Switch) but this is just icing on the cake. See people greed isn't everything. I know they didn't want the game sold on this but damn they should be praised for bucking the norm and being great people.

Good on them, but it really sucks that the publisher even has to think about doing this. Why can't this country help take care of families like this without making them rely on charity?

Very good on them, I don't need any more Switch games but never hurts to give to a good cause. I'll pick this up.

I thought this was really wonderful of the publisher, BadLand Games.

http://www.axiomverge.com/blog/axiom-verge-retail-launch (via GoNintendo.com)

The game is out now retail and download for Switch. (Already available on PS4, Vita, Windows, Mac, Linux, XB1, Wii U)
Buying this game on all platforms. I have a 2 year old son and this post almost brought me to tears. My kid also had a routine case of jaundice, but was treated properly, and he's fine now. My heart goes out to the developer and his family.

You're a good man.

I'm going to bare my ignorance, if you all will excuse me. I'd like to know whether the developer will end up getting more of my money if I purchase the game digitally from the eShop, or physically. I assume there are extra costs incurred with putting the game out physically that maybe he's eating, but those might be more than made up for by BadLands' kind gesture and contribution. I also know that the digital retailers typically take about 30% of the sale, is that right? So... Which sale is more advantageous for Happ?

I know it wasn't the intention, but this makes me want to buy it. That's a great cause and a wonderful thing for the publisher to do.

I think you'll love it. The game's atmosphere is amazing and it's the best Metroidlike out there. In terms of having an alien world and capturing that feel of Metroid games, nothing really compares.

Standard will just get you a copy of the game while the multiverse edition nets you the game and some extra stuff to go with it. Like a 32 page art book, a poster, and a making of axiom verge documentary as well. If you get the switch version of axiom verge you will also get a cd for the game soundtrack with the documentary.

Bought the game for Wii U, so I hope that helped somewhat as well (the dev gets his share afterall). The game was pretty good and I beat the game 100%. Maybe a little repeatative in the end, but still worth the whole experience.

Nice. I've been thinking about getting this for a while but this made me go in on the eShop and buy it.

Also, the download was really quick. I think it was a new record.

That's one big fuck up by the doctors. The kid will suffer for it for the rest of his life. I really liked axiom verge and will support the dev by buying his next game. Pretty classy move from the publisher.

It sadden me that he need money donated to pay his son's healthcare bill, for in Sweden he would have not have to pay that bill at all or as much as in america

But this could also mean that me made Axiom Vege for the love of his son and not for the fame he got, which just make him the world greatest father

Damn, even more glad I bought this day one now. Really good on the publisher here.

Still, it's insane to me that a child's healthcare needs to be paid for directly like this at all. America is such a bizarrely backwards country socially.

Was planning on getting the game eventually and this pushed me to get it now. Wonderful action by the publisher.

Got the switch and PSV multiverse versions. Man I feel so bad for his son, since Kernicterus is so easily preventable. This is a huge miss by the healthcare team.

Always great when you have to put the profits of your work of art towards paying for medical bills. Good system.

Heart warming and wonderful to see. More publishers could take a note of this. Some things are just more important in life. Kudos to the publisher.

Wow this is amazing, and the fact they did this and didn't want to publicise it. What a great publisher.

Is this only on retail or digital? Wasn't particularly interested in the game but I'll happily grab it on Switch knowing this. Kudos to the publishers for doing this, pretty heartwarming.

Badland is publishing only the retail version, while the developer is self-publishing the digital edition. The retail version is available on Wii U, PS4, Vita, and Switch in North America, and will come to Europe next year.

Would be interested in finding out which version will end up getting the most funds going towards the dev's son's treatment. Obviously if they're self-publishing the digital version themselves, they'll get more percentage of the sale from that, but if 75% of the publisher's profit from the more expensive retail version + the devs share ends up with it getting more that way, i'd like to wait for that on Switch in Europe
