Yep, they announced it at the conference. Only for JPN, I think. Maybe East Asia in general.
I mean, that's gotta happen sooner or later. Yakuza 3 had a Phoenix Wright styled side story so I hope we do get some crazy heat move/motions while in court.I know it looks pretty yakuza but man it would be a amazing twist if the boss fights are held at court, with heat move-esque evidence giving, table slamming and pointing.
Presenting evidence, yelling objection, and then getting heat and glowing purple. Everyone is standing still but with heat aura.I mean, that's gotta happen sooner or later. Yakuza 3 had a Phoenix Wright styled side story so I hope we do get some crazy heat move/motions while in court.
Sega America just uploaded a English subbed version of the story trailer.
I find it quite odd since they usually have celebrity guests as side characters so they'll only use them for one game. If this gets a sequel, will it be the same protagonist?I wonder how much they paid to get Takuya Kimura in the game.....

Sorry, but I disagree with that as well. 0 and Ishin were done after 4 and are both way better than it om every way. And 5 on a gameplay level smokes 4 as well while also introducing several new mini games and overhauls the hostess conversations to something actually fun. Fist of the North Star also changes up the combat tons but does reuse a few mini games I wish had not been reused (basically just the Casino and arcade games, as I've played those before. Would have preferred more new games but at least we got the MKIII FOTNS Sega game to play).
This game looks quite different from Yakuza as well, bar the setting of course. All new mini games, very different combat in terms of moves (shown so far, though I expect the heat move system to be very similar, upgrades probably as well) and the exploration/investigation gameplay is totally different to what you got in Yakuza. This is a great breath of fresh air and I'm glad they are going with this. But that's just me.
This is a brave new world, they're clearly working in tandem now and taking on both markets at once.
I don't know what inspired the paradigm shift, but I love it.

Yakuza 4 had some famous Japanese actor playing Tanimura, one of the protagonists, who then never showed up in any other games.I find it quite odd since they usually have celebrity guests as side characters so they'll only use them for one game. There should at least be a side story with Majima in court.
Kiwami 2 managed to have it, even when a lot of people didn't like the new songs that much, but it seems they have ways to make it happen now or maybe their budget increased. That the same trailer served as the confirmation for the west at least makes me hopeful. The english trailer also had the same japanese song.
I hope that going forward (as in new games, not remasters/remakes) the music differences are over.
