I mean, we've only seen one character so. Who knows what activities you can do in the hub/town/whatever it may have.
no the reveal involves this

I am more excited for Granblue Fantasy but that looks like another very promising Cygames project for the PS4 :D

Or maybe PS5...

CyGames literally has SO much money, they just throw budget at talented people and get awesome stuff from it.
Like the Bahamut anime or the GranBlue game from Platinum. Now this!

was this supposed to be by platinum games or am i thinking of something else?

You're probably thinking about the Granblue console game they have in the works with Plat. This is a seperate project targeting next-gen, and they have a couple more other console games in development.

I don't think it's visually beyond PS4 (Pro) at all. If anything it looks lesser than Deep Down for sure and people bought that :P

But it could also just be a PC version (whether it's released on PC or not) or early prototype (remember Dark Souls 2 lighting?) and it's somewhat paired down in the image quality when run on an actual console. But it really doesn't seem to require next-gen hardware to get the gist of the experience, especially since it doesn't show the scope of each area or anything besides some walking around and the dragon fight.

I was under the impression this would be a PS5 game. Perhaps development has gone smoothly enough to release before then. Probably not next year but we'll see.

It was apparently listed for PS4 and PC during E3.

Sweet.

Gonna be a while before all these announcements show their real platforms, at least those not explicitly announced as exclusives but merely only say "for PS4" at this time.

I mean, most of the news come from the Sony section, obviously they won't mention other platforms.

Of course that doesn't guarantee other platforms either.

Yeah.
That GranBlue game looks incredible too.

The Bahamut anime was awesome. The first season came out of nowhere and was great and I really liked the new season too.

Always down for another Japanese AAA, combat focused game. Game looks great, like a cinematic MHxSouls. Hoping for character creation though, cuz that one is so blah.

I don't know if they did it just to fit the aesthetic, but I'm hoping the english voiceover means its already planned for a western release. We haven't gotten confirmation of that Granblue PS4 game being localized yet right?

I hope it goes more towards Dragon's Dogma than Monster Hunter or Dark Souls, but it looks great so far. Will keep an eye out for out, especially if the PC listing is accurate.

Got some real Dragon's Dogma vibes from that. If Capcom can make DMCV and RE2 look like they do, then this being DD2 wouldn't take me by surprise.

Yeah , that hero is so generic it remind me of the basic hero from FF14 ( in the trailers ).
We need customisation in this game.

"It's time for the wolves of war to awaken..."
Presenting an all new action RPG by Cygames.

from the video description. So it's safe to say it wouldn't be Monster Hunter style? But rather Dark Souls or Dragon's Dogma.

Monster Hunter World has the genre as Action RPG on the official website. That's what it always was essentially even if they coined that dumb "Hunting Action" genre term back in the day like they coined" Stylish Action" for DMC, those terms mean nothing to most gamers so they return to the originals :oP

There are ways to make a similar setup more palatable for people not into MonHun but into games like Souls without drastically expanding the scope. Give an actual if limited open world and have different quests pop up for dragon and other threats, each quest leading you to a different area-arena to fight the given monster, reuse the locations for other monsters, alter them here and there after story events then have the post-game repeat with more randomized and extra monster types, added difficulties, whatever else, doing away with all the side elements like the gradual exploration of the world and opening of different areas when the quests allow it to focus on the bosses alone. Monster Hunter-like doesn't mean copying every aspect 1:1 (as long as the uncopied elements aren't half baked and boring a la Lord of Arcana, Square's PSP effort).

Either way we know pretty much nothing other than the combat style which looks very MonHunesque.

Isn't this the same studio behind the ZOE2 remaster?

Anyway, this looks great, actually!
