Well it looks like Nintendo only just started their social media activity today. Maybe is the lack of blog post is not because the Direct change but because you know, it's a natural disaster and maybe Nintendo halted most company activities.
I think there will be a Smash Bros will be in the Direct but just pointing out that a lack of blog post last Friday, when most of Nintendo of social media activity stopped, doesn't mean it's because Smash was going to be in the Direct.
We've been made assured multiple times by his fans that Bandana Waddle Dee and regular Waddle Dee's are not the same character. So even if Waddle Dee is to have multiple Amiibo, that shouldn't affect Bandana Waddle Dee, who has yet to have one of his own

Okay so crazy idea here. I've suggested an Alolan Champion before with a Decidueye, Incineroar, and Primarina team. What if their Trainer was Professor Kukui?
He's exactly the kind of person who would raise a team of fully evolved starter Pokemon and construct a team using their strengths to synergize with each other. Plus he's a character that's had a constant presence not only in the game but also in the Anime.
Not to mention he's a Pokemon Professor and that hasn't been represented at all in Smash. He's also the perfect Professor to be in Smash because his field is to study Pokemon moves.
Finally this is a small point but he can also have a Masked Royal costume they already share a similar frame and as the current Pokemon Trainer shows different people can be costumes so it makes alot of sense.

LOL okay dude. Okay. Why on Earth would Kukui be The Masked Royal? They aren't even the same person! Kukui is just a professor (a darn good one) while The Masked Royal is this awesome trainer. There isn't anything alike about them! I could even ask Professor Burnet and she'd say the same thing! She knows her husband in and out. 1. A masked wrestler being an alt costume for a PROFESSOR of all things is dumb and Sakurai would never. They are opposites!
2. I would prefer the starters actually be Rowlett, Incineroar and the 2nd form of the water one. I always forget their name. I think that would offer the best variety!

Brionne is utter trash. I love Popplio. I love Primarina. Brionne deserves to be stuffed inside a Garbodor carcass and tossed into a goddamn volcano.

I think the problem with another Starter-Mid-Final team is that it's already been done before. If Sakurai is going to go through the effort of making another Pokemon Trainer than there should be something this team can do to justify it and I think the Alolan Starters have a great synergy with each other as their Final forms. Plus apparently Sakurai was considering on putting Blastoise in Brawl for Pokemon Trainer's team but decided against it when he decided to implement the team we have today.
Plus I think it would be poetic for the up and coming trainer to have a team that consists of Pokemon that are still growing compared to a Professor who would have a more developed team.
I found this fan art endearing and it did a lot to warm me to Brionne's design.
So, I then made the mistake of googling more art of Brionne.
Bear in mind that I have Safe Search ON.
One piece has Brionne opening her mouth full of creamy goo. I mean, maybe it's saliva. Very glue-like saliva.
Another had a disembodied hand grabbing a blushing Brionne's butt.
Another had Brionne all fat and swollen after apparently eating someone.

What would rowlett's movement be? Just always flying?
I'm ok with a floppy or surfing Brionne, but Rowlet is a little too weird specifically for a ring out game like smash.
Also who in their right mind prefers Incineroar to Litten? I don't care if it ruins a wrestling motiff, I want Litten.
Litten is just a cat with a "meh" expression. Incineroar is an actual character.
They will run whatever is most popular, and if that includes pre evolutions I guess thats that.
Having split tiers gives you a lot of size variety to play with as opposed to 3 fully evolved, and honestly its always been endearing to have non evolved pokemon doing their best as opposed to people just using whats supposed to be the strongest on paper.
Well... they did have the saddest episode of the anime dedicated to them, but yeah there is a lot more you can do with the 3rd form as a character.
