Glad to be here :D Even if it just ends up being spoiler, gonna be as active as I can this season. It's the nature of the fantasy beast. Frankly, I'm happy to see grang so invested out of the gate.
New blood in the league is always welcome. Even better if it's both hungry and competitive. Wouldn't want it any other way.
No quitters last year for me - Allen Robinson 3rd round pick, out for the season after first play.Im saltier about McKinnon since I drafted him...rip 2nd round pick.
Yep. Picked up John Kelly and hoping maybe Gurley's contract has a clause where he does not need to play and still get paid. The one time I played No Quitters, I lost Jamaal Charles, my first round pick, in week 1. It was virtually impossible to find starting-caliber RBs that year too. This was before the rise of timeshares and passing down backs being viable.
Dalvin Cook was more of an unknown though, people were taking him high because of that Peterson effect, thinking it was going to be plug and play.It is possible to recover after some unfortunate early injuries or disappointing performers.
My 2nd round pick last year, Dalvin Cook, went up in smoke in Week 4. I had him handcuffed w/ Latavius Murray whom I dumped immediately prior to his Week 7 explosion into actually being usable.
Main challenge with Matt Ryan this season is going to be that they stuck it out with Steve Sarkisian despite their abhorrent red zone success in 2017 and failed to make any adjustments in the off-season. Ryan finished as QB15 in our league last season in total points (QB20 in fantasy points per game) - which effectively puts him in the category of "guy you can stream favorable matchups with that you don't want to rely solely upon".Way to shit the bed, Matty Ice. I shouldn't have waited so late to draft a QB.

The real kick in the teeth is that Dinner Out plucked Andrew Luck as his QB2 in Round 8 just a few picks ahead of you. Waiting on Luck was a viable strategy in drafts this season... and only two owners after your pick in Round 7 needed a QB still and you had Rivers on the board along with him. The Brees owner grabbing Luck for potential trade capital no doubt came as a surprise to both you and SaveWeyard but Luck represented great value at that point so I honestly can't fault the move.
Thanks! And yeah, I really thought Luck was going to fall to me in the 8th round as I was tracking who still needed to fill the position in the 7th and figured I could sneak in another RB pick for depth before grabbing him. When he was snagged early I decided to delay even longer and fill out WR some more, as you said. After that I was hoping either Alex Smith or Goff would still be available in the 9th.I'm a big fan of how SaveWeyard reacted by not panicking, grabbing some WR depth, landing Goff in the 9th (who put up better numbers than Ryan last year, will have one of the best defenses in the league putting him in great field position and a new toy in Brandin Cooks to throw to) and subsequently backing him up with Trubisky in the 11th as insurance. Trubisky will similarly have a great defense putting him in decent field position... and while he was awful last season, he has the potential to grow with more experience under his belt similar to how Goff did last year and a significant coaching shuffle.
There will be plenty of opportunities to address that QB hole off the wire or via trades throughout the season so I wouldn't sweat too much, TSP. Having three consecutive home games to regroup should bode well for Matt Ryan as well.
You're not behind the times when it comes to kickers. On the defense / special teams front, it's not a terrible idea to nab a defense slightly early as streaming for value at that position with 15 other savvy owners is easier said than done.My plan going in was always to be one of the last to grab a QB, especially when they started going as early as round 3. I was also surprised at how early defenses and kickers were going. Am I behind the times in thinking you can just save them until the last two picks and then just stream the best available option each week?
lolCome on Rodgers, just don't pass it to Cobb, anyone but Cobb
ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME
You're always welcome to join up next season. We're always happy to have new recruits.
I had a pretty lousy week and lost Walker for the year. Plenty of time to recover, though. Can't complain with the performance of my team. Avoided some bad week 1 injuries as well.
Only looks like 2 weeks.
Yeah I should be good with Sony coming back. He has some huge upside.
That'll make for some fun FAAB gamesmanship after GCQ dumped him to the wire after it was announced the Browns planned to cut him. Wonder how much he'll go for.
