I am not seeing what some of you see in Covington, these fight will likely be him eating a pull counter KO somewhere in the second, his wrestling is mildly above average and his striking is terrible. He's like a welterweight Chael Sonnen.

I don't think he could beat Usman let alone Woodley.
He has a good chin and will pressure at a relentless pace. I think if he can take Woodley's best shots in the first couple of rounds, he will slowly take over the longer the fight goes.

Who's saying Colby can beat Woodley?
Haven't seen anyone here saying Colby has a chance

What do you say now?

Shameless, who the hell is taking Woodley's best shots at Welterweight. Colby was staggered by RDA for Christ's sake. Woodley hits harder than RDA.

Maia survived okay. Gastelum was able to take his shots before. Jake Shields is a worse striker than Covington, but was able to outwork Woodley on the feet. Like you say maybe he gets sparked out, I hope he does, but RDA landed over a hundred heavy shots and he kept walking forward.

Jake Shields? How many years ago was that? Woodley is not even the same fighter. He was the wrestlerfucker back then, Shields was better than him at the time. Maia? Torn labrum. Gastelum was 10 pounds over when they fought, I explicitly stated Welterweight.

While I consider you suss for being a Colby fan, let's not misrepresent facts here, this is MMA.

I can't recall a time when 2 wrestlers faught and the inferior striker between the two won.

My bad, didn't see that.

They're on something. Till is twice the fighter Colby is and just got outclassed. All Colby has is wrestling, and Tyron will shut that down easily.

Shields was not a better striker than Woodley when he won that fight. Woodley landed a much higher percentage of significant strikes, but shields threw more than double the amount of punches and won on volume. I'm not a Covington fan, but styles make fights and he's a much more natural pressure fighter than anyone Woodley has fought on this current run.

Can you imagine the crowd if they had Woodley defend vs Colby in STL?

The combo of it being Woodleys hometown combined with the shit Colby says in a city with a large black population? Woodley would be walking out to the cage like a damn super hero

I hope Tyron retires Colby or at least busts him down a division.

I want him to hurt that dude bad.
I've never wanted someone to get knocked out... hurt... seriously... this much before.

I want Colby to have nightmares about the guy that destroyed his career for years to come.

I looked this fight up and it was a contentious draw. He is not the same fighter who fought Jake Shields anyhow. It was literally his second UFC fight and large jump in competition.

You need more than pressure to beat Tyron today. You need pressure and power striking. Colby only has one of these. He doesn't even have takedown defense and he is a wrestler.

Did anyone catch Dodson's horrendous 'fro in the embedded episodes?. Hawtdang is it BAD... shave that shit pronto. He looks like some sort of a clown sans make-up.

Oh, and Woodley will get the recognition he deserves after he dismantles Shittington.

The real MMA math is the worse a card looks on paper, the better it is.

(I also remember Dana loving to make that point at his scrums IF the event was cool and if not, then no one would talk about it either because it was obvious)

Sometimes Schaub is on point

Man, when he talks about how Woodley doesn't smile about the UFC or the UFC belt but lit up with emotion over his black belt, that kind of says it all. Fuck Dana.

Dana's treatment of Woodley is a fucking disgrace.

I agree partly but I also think Woodley was in some of the worst fights that I can remember (against Rory especially).
So I won't fall head over heels because he actually starched someone. If he has two or three more defenses that are
fun to watch, THEN I'll reconsider.

MMA is always about "what have you done in the last 4seconds" and everything gets re-written to fit that new narrative.
If his last fight would have been a five round sparring match, Schaub would be lamenting his ability to pull the trigger.

Doesn't matter. He is still champ. He still has beaten a parade of top fighters. You and anybody else is within their rights to think he is boring, half the time he is (the other half he is getting 3 performances of the night, a fight of the night, and a ko of the night). But for Dana to actively root against him, to demean and undermine him in front of and to other employees and say he hopes he loses is a fucking disgrace and yet more evidence his ass should have pushed out long ago.

I blame Maia and Wonderboy being boring as fuck moreso than Woodley. Maia has been in shit fights for half his career and literally can't do anything if he can't get them to the ground which is even more funny when he has no sort of go to takedowns. Wonderboy can be fun when he comes forward but he's been gun-shy for the past couple.of fights.

Dunno why Maia and Wonderboy don't get crapped on for boring fights.

Hell why didn't Till for having a worse fight with Wonderboy than Woodley did.

Oh wait, I do know why.

If I were a shareholder and I saw that Dana was incapable of marketing a guy like Woodley who is multi-talented, a P4P monster, a family man [same goes for Mighty Mouse] or a dude like Stipe who is a motherfuckin' firefighter and one of the greatest HWs ever I'd want him ousted ASAP because it seems like he's actively sabotaging the company.

Conor/Khabib is not going to do the numbers people expect because the card is lacklustre (right now), there is low interest in the UFC and there is zero marketing for this fight/card right now.

Yeah. It's not hitting 2 mil. Conor/GSP might.

UFC has outgrown Dana.

He needs to go sooner than later because he will cost the company dearly.

I don't agree 229 is lacklustre though. It's stacked, imo. The marketing is pretty terrible because Conor doesn't want to do anything for it.

Damn had no idea Werdum was 41. Too bad TUF is dying. Only real HW prospect on the horizon is Greg Hardy. A final TUF with heavyweight prospects under 28 and a million dollar contract would've been a pretty sweet incentive to bring in some semi elite heavies.

Machida making his Bellator debut against Rafael Carvalho in Hawaii.

Didn't Dana say the reason MMA wasn't coming to Hawaii had everything to do with Hawaii and not the UFC just like a month ago?

I honestly couldn't believe he got worked by Dennis Siver of all people. He really should've just hung it up.

232 isn't even a Hawaii card..
