Incineroar IS the mask. The mask it wears everyday to appeal to the ambitious hearts of children everywhere. The mask that allows Incineroar to hide it's true self, the true self that yearns for a genuine deep connection with another living being. The mask it wears out of fear that exposing it's vulnerable side, will lead to the very children that admire it to lose interest. The mask it has worn so long that it might as well be its face. All of Incineroar's posturing, snark, and show boating have become second nature, because Incineroar has accepted that is the role it must play for others to accept Incineroar. That is the mask Incineroar wears.
Apparently the song was originally composed for an Arthurian RPG game and repurposed for Shovel Knight.
Hyper Camelot fits weirdly well with Shovel Knight. I can imagine him being a H Y P E R C A M E L O T

Because Incineroar has a fantastic concept, design and personality?
He's exciting to furry bara artists and people who want to write sob stories based on Pokedex entries. That's good enough for me.
Part of it is tormenting my friends who thought "no, surely not again", part of it is its a fun design
I also think his expressions would be pretty neat in smash!
There are pokemon I'd like in more (Mimikyu rip, lycanroc, etc) but I'd be totes cool with incineroar

I think I like every major contender for Smash.
I have no issues with Geno, Inceneroar, Elma, Isabelle, or even Shadow. I relish and praise Wonder Red! I appreciate Isaac's fanbase. I hold no more grudges.

This is why I'm hoping squad strike is a great multi-character mode. I mean, more characters is obviously better than less, but it's tough to use them all when there's so many.
and this is after having to deal with 10 hours on the stage select screen. 2 of those hours dedicated to trying to find the stage on the stage select screen.

Exaggerated proportions that read well onscreen (i.e. the claws for swiping).
Expressive face that will give him loads of personality.
Heck, there's even a stage, Boxing Ring — complete with generic Smash-branded variant — that's perfect for him.
And his Z-Move is perfect for a cinematic Final Smash.
Also, he's a grappler, and one based on a popular Japanese character, Tiger Mask.

I really disliked it when I saw the leak. The fact that GF was returning to the same general idea for the umpteenth time had me legitimately ticked off tbh. It grew on me as I saw more of it, though, and then it completely won me over once I used it in USUM (I wanted to use Litten). It's just such a fun 'mon to watch. Even its walking animation has swagger.
I think this is true for all Gen VII starters. They're filled with personality.

I wish I could be like you, some of the more possible choices don't really excite me, usually third parties.
I'll be stoked for Incineroar, Skull Kid, Geno, Elma, Isabelle, Ken, Shadow, Medusa, Dante, Banjo & Kazooie, Master Chief... All of these would be great.

No, guns wouldn't be a problem. Just use the grenade launcher, stun baton, BOW summons, etc. Plenty an RE character could use.

Excitement is a marketing fallacy. Ultimately, the game will be in your hands, and characters will be judged on how they play. And the newcomers so far look like they will play well. All will be well.

While you're probably right, I think they meant "darkest" in a genre sense. Dracula's Castle is filled to the brim with ~spooks~ and has a classically gothic aesthetic.

Imagine a stage that you literally can't see anything. You have to rely on sound and HD rumble alone to find your location.
That's actually kinda the final boss stage in Custom Robo (N64).
