I think of them as a factor of playing as Spidey. It's expected to have small crime happening for you to take 2 minutes tops to stop and be on with your day.

I'm looking forward to having a conversation about this game in a month after we've got over the shininess and the swinging
There's a LOT that needs to be talked about here
People in this very topic are taking about the things they like and the things they dont so today is the day you can talk about whatever you want!I'm looking forward to having a conversation about this game in a month after we've got over the shininess and the swinging

I just web them with my web shooters before I use the move on them.I actually unlocked that last night. Ill try that. Does it web them with the Webshooter or have to have other gadget there?
So, what exactly do you like about them then? I'm genuinely curious.
So far what I encountered is more of the same with a bit of different tricksSooooo...what about boss battle and the main story in general?
Are there good moments and epic battles? Or is just average?
Seriously. Why wait? I always find it awkward how so many forum posters seem to look forward to bashing critically acclaimed things. No surprise that the same ones that do it here are the same ones that came from GAF. It's like they live for this shit lmao.People in this very topic are taking about the things they like and the things they dont so today is the day you can talk about whatever you want!
I think it definitely has some inFamous DNA, and I don't think that's a bad thing. It's inFamous + Spider-Man 2.

I find them fun little time wasters. Generally for open world games I'll do a couple of story missions then a couple of side missions that will take me around the world or let me enjoy some of the mechanics I like to cool down from the story missions. I'm not someone who has to religiously beat them all. If I want to do a small side mission I will, to relax and do something outside of the story missions. If I don't like the side missions I won't do them. So, what exactly do you like about them then? I'm genuinely curious.
I like webbing enemies to those large shelves and then pulling the shelves down. It's hilarious lol.
There's some really good set pieces later on.Sooooo...what about boss battle and the main story in general?
Are there good moments and epic battles? Or is just average?
Ooooooh, I loved orb hunting on Crackdown and Saints Row IV.I enjoy finding the backpacks too, for the same reason as I enjoyed getting the orbs in Crackdown. It's fun to find.
Man I can never decide what suit to wear. The Advanced Suit has grown on me but then there's classic, Homecoming, Iron Spider, etc. Plus, it feels kinda wrong not using the Advanced Suit for story missions
It's actually starting to piss me off. The MJ sequences are straight garbage and they make you do so many of them.I'm starting to get annoyed at how often the game has you controlling MJ.
A dozen threads starting with "am I the only one"
Yeah. I'm on theIt's actually starting to piss me off. The MJ sequences are straight garbage and they make you do so many of them.
The more I play this game the more I see why it got dinged in a number of reviews and I think some of the reviewers were too soft on certain aspects.
I said it earlier in the thread, but people judge content too much purely by what you do rather than why you do them. Like calling the side activities here busy work implies that you find it as pointless and meaningless repetition, but that judgement isn't inherent to the content but rather why one plays and what they're seeking from the gameSame thing I love about mining in Minecraft. I legit enjoy working towards something. Collecting backpacks was quite fun, especially seeing what each item was. Landmarks I actually got really good taking pictures while swinging.
Pigeons and drone challenges are probably the worst ones. Everything else I didn't even think too hard about, and half of that is straight optional, so... if it's not your jam, don't do it?
Did I miss something? I'm just past the E3 demo part of the game and I'm not understanding something
How is Peter certain that Martin Li is behind what happened at the award ceremony? As far as I can tell, on Miles was around when Li was revealed to be there giving commands. After that ended, it skipped to the funereal then to Peter looking for evidence to prove it was Li. I know he had suspicions based on Li acting weird earlier when he said he was going away, but did I miss anything else? It was pretty jarring to see him actively looking into finding out who the Demons were to sunddenly knowing Li was their leader.
The landmarks and the backpacks are fine, even stuff like the research centers are acceptable. It's garbage like chasing pigeons or find the black cat missions that are absolutely pointless and add nothing to the game. Even stuff like the hideouts could have been done in a much more intricate and personal manner than what is currently there. It's pure monotony.I said it earlier in the thread, but people judge content too much purely by what you do rather than why you do them. Much like the orbs in Crackdown, everything you do is another step toward new tangible unlocks that affect gameplay, everything is progression in some way. Landmarks and backpacks build upon that already existing feeling of profession with digital tourism and world-building/backstory respectively, while challenges and crimes offer more opportunities to enjoy the combat and traversal
The dark suit? It's amazing. I've been switching back and forth between Dark, homecoming and Noirethe black cat suit is so good, damn
I'll eventually go back to the homecoming one, but still
I HATE the early homecoming suit from the backpacks side quests, the goggles are so goofy lol
Did you skip the bit where the camera clearly zooms in from Peter's shoulder to Li using his powers to posses the deputy mayor and carry out the bomb? His spider-sense pops off the moment Mister Negative shows up.
One day we'll have a straight up conversation about the secondary/tertiary activities and tasks in this game without the honeymoon phase of "but the swinging though."
Insomniac needs to triple the number of quest designers for the sequel.
I may be wrong butDid I miss something? I'm just past the E3 demo part of the game and I'm not understanding something

That feels like there was a last minute change and they didn't fix resultant plot details. By all accounts he shouldn't know that element at that particular point but the game assumes he does.Did I miss something? I'm just past the E3 demo part of the game and I'm not understanding something

Yeah it confused me at first but I gave it a little rewatch and it really helped. Reminds me that the game needs a cutscene viewer or something.Yeah I guess I missed it. I'll rewatch the cutscene. I'm actually so glad that it's just something I missed because I'm loving the game so far and that left me really confused.
I'm gonna do another playthrough that is the advanced suit only on new game plus.Man I can never decide what suit to wear. The Advanced Suit has grown on me but then there's classic, Homecoming, Iron Spider, etc. Plus, it feels kinda wrong not using the Advanced Suit for story missions
I may be wrong but
Li was one of the guys that turned negative and before the bombs went off, and Peter saw them when he went all spidey sense. At least that's what I thought.

If the player finds the core gameplay as fun and satisfying, is that inherently a bad thing? It's only a negative if the player finds it repetitive, hence my points earlier that "busy work" is subjective and not purely dictated by content or style of contentThe landmarks and the backpacks are fine, even stuff like the research centers are acceptable. It's garbage like chasing pigeons or find the black cat missions that are absolutely pointless and add nothing to the game. So much of the side material doesn't flesh out the world in any way and it's just a way to keep the player busy.
Oh good!
I really love the photomode, but I hope they will add a brightness setting or something else to make Spidey pop out more because he can appear pretty dark in a lot of settings.
Other than that, I'm really having a blast with the game, especially after getting more comfortable with the combat system which kinda allows you to pull off wild shit pretty early in the game. And yeah, the swinging is *chief's kiss* - can't wait to unlock more abilities to further improve it
