I just started this. I played the first one on Vita back when it launched, I forgot how cool it was to free fall

I have only one question: when I talk to NPCs (the ones on the map with three dots, with general informations) and then manually save, the next time I load they reappear as I never talked to them. Is that normal?
Now I simply save after beginning a mission, but it's annoying

Yep. It's a pain indeed.
I don't remember if there's a way to prevent that besides doing a mission/challenge. Maybe change costumes after talking to them and before saving?

Thanks, I'll try that as soon as I can.
And I guess there's no difference between choosing 'continue' or 'load'? It seems the game is always spawning me in a default spot (like outside Lisa's door)

Anyway I love the writing in this game, it makes Kat appear so cute and innocent lol. Makes me giggle every other scene

I believe load is to choose a different save file.

RIP online servers. </3

I really enjoyed the community aspect as everyone rushed to help each other get their tokens before the servers went down. I'll fondly look back on that part of my (first) playthrough.

Found a random treasure box the other night. Of course, the hint upload fails, and the box just disappears without giving any Dusty tokens. I was pretty sure this would be the case, but I saw a few articles claiming earning tokens would be merely hard rather than flat out impossible and had to check for myself.

At least even without the server I was still able to recover my ghost from my last mining failure. I had made certain to not close the game in case it was stored locally.

So now that the servers are offline, what exactly is the deal with the treasure chests? You can still find them in game but just no more hunts? I read somewhere they only appear when a mission is activated. I also read that people aren't really sure what causes them to spawn so even if you knew where some were located you wouldn't necessarily find them there. However, maybe that's old information from before people realized being in a mission caused them to spawn? Does anyone know? Thanks!

You definitely don't have to be in a mission; in fact, I've only ever found them when not in a mission.

They should still award anything you could have gotten using a treasure hint, but of course you are no longer able to upload hints.

Thanks for the info. So do they just randomly spawn at times or are they always present in the map if you know where they should be located?

Maybe people have dug into it more with it being an active concern, but my understanding was that they can spawn extremely rarely in any of the different locations they can spawn in for hunts.

So it's random, and also there are a lot of places they could possibly be, so... it seems impossible that someone could actually get everything as things are now, unless I'm very wrong.

Well that's no fun. I guess I won't bother trying to hunt them down and just hope I run into some occasionally.

It's not impossible to get the treasures without the hints, but they spawn rarely in random locations, and in my 68 hours of play I only bumped into a random treasure 3 times (all other treasures were from hints).

Considering you need like 60 treasures to get everything... yeah, it's not worth it.

Even if you find the treasures you will only be getting the contents of the chest itself but there won't be any Dusty Tokens it seems. So items tied to the rewards system are currently impossible to earn outside of perhaps stuff like safe file editing which I'm not sure if it is even possible.

Completed Gravity Rush Remastered yesterday. A frustratingly brilliant. My only issue are the controls...just a bit messy for complete fluidity. But that's it. The rest is utterly amazing. Charming, adorable, likeable...just an immense experience all-round. Never played anything like it before.

Started Gravity Rush 2 today...OMG it's beautiful. Admittedly I like a realistic look but this game makes my heart flutter. It's achingly beautiful. From the intro I noticed a huge step up in presentation (which is a stunning intro, I may add) and now I've just docked at Jirga Para Lhao and...

...the whole thing is just so lush and vivid. I want to go there. Ha. I'm contemplating where this presentation lands in my all-timer lists but right now it's near the top.

I mean, I can't wait to get here.

Nice OT for an amazing game. I wish they would put the white outfit for download before the servers are shutted off.
Damn, I would have loved to get a white outfit. Bugger!

Anyone in this thread playing Spider-Man? It reminds me so much of Gravity Rush (2 mostly), from the traversal, to the (sometimes silly) side-missions, to the forced stealth sections, to the myriad of cool costumes.

Saying it reminds you of Gravity Rush hypes me up. I've yet to play Spidey but I am looking forward to it. A few have compared Spidey to Infamous too.

Spiderman is the only game I could see besting this game as far as traversal goes. I look forward to finally playing it later today.

The traversal in Spider-Man is definitely fantastic. It's immediately satisfying. However, if we're comparing the two, I think GR2 still edges it out due to its dynamism.

I haven't got Spidey yet but I am super looking forward to it. I'm mostly avoiding the threads so I don't run into spoilers.

I do find it amusing that we seem to have come a full circle, suggested the subtitle for the OT because I felt there was some strong similarities to Spidey. For one, both are heroes who protect their little pocket of the world. They both have abilities that grant fun traversal that technically isn't quite flying, Kat is more like falling through the skies. Their jobs range from world saving to smaller stuff non-combat stuff. Both characters have their own sort of charm that become a bit of a selling point inseparable from their person. Both characters are somewhat taken halfheartedly when not being the whole superhero thing, Kat gets picked on, Peter gets picked on etc but everyone loves and cheers when they see them fighting the big baddies. Funnily enough, Peter is a photographer and he has all sorts of fancy tricks to get nice shots of the action including selfies and of course Kat gets a camera of her own which she can stasis in place a small distance from her.

I'm pretty excited for spiderman.

I missed this earlier, but great to see people are still playing the game. GR2 is a bit slow to start and definitely has some frustrating moments like the first game but stick with it! It is still one of my favourite games this gen.

Hmm, I'm not sure yet whether I prefer web-slinging or not. I mean, controlling gravity is definitely easier and more freeing, that's for sure. But all the cool little animations and learning curve makes a strong case nonetheless...

Yeah, I get the comments but still, this game feels amazing to play. Just got the 'Lunar Style' and it feels like a better looking Destiny/Crackdown hybrid. So awesome.

And done.

It's fair to say the game has issues but most of them come over from the original game. The control mechanics, while fine, didn't always feel fluid enough to be in full control and hit the spot you aimed at. Sometimes it was just completely baffling how you'd miss a target. Orientation in those quick to react moments suffered too, enough for me to hold the controller in an obscure manner to get to how I needed to play.

Apart from that everything else was aces. The final encounter was a tad easy if I'm honest considering how hard some of the story bosses played out.

The end left room for another game but I don't think it's going to happen. Shame. It's a wonderfully quirky game that needs more entries.

Just to be sure, did you see the credits once or twice? For some reason the credits first scroll at the 75% mark.

Once. Credits scrolled on the left while more story played out on the right. Then this bright woman appeared outside my Heskeville home. She flew away, I found her and that was that.

Have I missed something? Definitely no more credits played out.

It did say 'Final Chapter - Eto' so I did look for a mission marker and checked the Mission log. Nothing.

When you say clear everything, you mean the side missions and challenges, right, because there's nothing else to complete!? Honestly though I never play games for those type of events.

Oh, maybe you mean 'Information' I get from speaking to all the NPC's. Right, I will try that.

I like to think of the first ending as an end to Gravity Rush 2 events while the second one ties up the loose ends for the series.

It still has one of the strongest endings I've played this generation.

Yeah, it's a time sink. Didn't think it would be that long but it's 2:30am so got to go to bed. Will 'actually' finish this off tomorrow.

Thanks for the tip StarCreator. I would have missed all of it!

I still don't agree with anyone who complains about the controls. I haven't had any issue at all, and I played through the first game multiple times, both on Vita and on PS4, as well as the second one. Never once I felt it to be imprecise. I only had some trouble with some of the flying enemies, but that wasn't the controls, that was simply them moving before I could hit them.

How do you play when you have to track a moving target and attack with the right thumb? It's one or the other.

It's seemingly impossible to track a moving target and attack at the right moment. By the time you attack they've moved on and although Kat may still track the target like a curve she completes a close-shave fly-by instead. I could wait until they have stopped moving but by the time I reach them they start to move on again so it's another fly-by.

It's frustrating. Orientation doesn't help either.

OK, CAVEAT time: I never upgraded anything for the entire game...but then again I don't see any upgrade that would help in this situation.

But that's it, the rest is amazing to play. I'm diving in now to try and finish the fight. It's going to be a tough one as per above.

I haven't played in a while, but for example you could start falling towards that position and then press square a bit later. Additionally, I'm pretty sure I made a broad camera movement with the stick and then used the gyro for finer adjustments, so I could easily press square to attack.
Also, I think you may be aiming/attacking at the wrong time. The flying enemies with a spear-like thing for a head who like to charge at you are way easier to hit after dodging their charge.
I'm pretty sure that the upgraded kick is faster and homes better. So yeah, it would definitely help.

Yeah, I adopted that approach for some encounters. I usually shot myself directly up in to the sky with 'X' and let myself fall guiding myself to the point I could engage. It help, but only in certain circumstances.

I also adopted dodge (R2) but that usually didn't get me closer to the enemy. Like I said, by the time I got to them they were off again. Enemies that charge are in your screen space to start but then have moved to the rear out of view. Depending on your own momentum it may take what feels like an age to regain line of sight. It's annoying.

I disengaged the gyro because I didn't like it, unfortunately.

Anyways it's done. I still absolutely adore the game. The story is well told and really immersive, the game, generally, is imaginative and the presentation is immaculate.

I still want another one but the door seems to be firmly closed.

Bravo.

What I meant was to wait their attack, dodge and then attack yourself. It's more reliable for that kind of enemy. Still, I'm glad you liked it. And yeah, I doubt we'll see another one, but I'm already very happy we got this second title.

It is much tougher without upgrading powers. I assume you also haven't really done much with talismans either. They actually slowly add up to make the combat much better.

You can use your gravity kick to close the gap incredibly quickly then dodge and re-kick. Or switching to luna style to warp kick combo the enemy when you are close enough.
You can bring stasis items with you and start hurling the items as you shift/kick past an enemy.
On the ground you can kill all the little nevi by sliding into them in Jupiter style.
Jupiter's giant ball of debris stasis has a pretty large area of effect, same as the charged kick.
Piercing Throw is also incredibly good both for hitting multiple enemies semi-close together or just adding damage to a single area on a single enemy.
Similarly the vortex throws with Lunar style are quite good since they hold an enemy in place.

I found gravitating towards an enemy Normal style while using 'X' to boost and dodging an attack works to close the gap. Lunar warp kicks are also useful in the same way. Hated the Jupiter version. Pretty much useless. Apart from the charged gravity kick and the slide Jupiter seemed like a useless style unless gameplay dictates it must be used. Overall Lunar was much more flexible and expedient.

Honestly it was just an thought that I wish I could have decoupled aim and attack from my thumb.

EDIT: Maybe it was designed to be for the small percentage of skilled players i.e. like Street Fighter combo's etc...

Nothing in the game requires a level of execution anywhere close to your basic fighting game. It only requires learning to effectively use all the tools at your disposal.

Every style in the game has a situation that fits it best. Jupiter style's strengths lie in crowd control and burst damage. It's also the only style in the game that allows you to nullify damage rather than simply dodging it.

I think alternative controls would have been great, maybe gyro was meant to help with targeting.

For Jupiter it was really situation for sure but aside from movement being a bit heavier combat was oddly decent and trivialises some of the bosses.
Kali for example virtually knocks herself out if you guard against her charge attack.
I actually think one of the smarter and more enjoyable parts of the combat was from the fact that it wasn't always obvious which style of attacks would work best for new enemies. Experimenting was kind of fun to me, though less enjoyable when I'm just trying to get through content I guess.

I didn't even know that. I certainly didn't see that hint pop-up.

Every time I used Jupiter style I felt like a sitting target. Ha.

StarCreator Sorry, I didn't mean in overall gameplay....just the dexterity to track a shifty target and hit square to attack in a blink of an eye with the same digit.
