games out for the $100 editions, folks stuck at -1 VC, can't buy anything.......servers are shit and this isn't even general launch audience...........same crap we go through every year i swear with this.

I would not doubt if the steam/PC users are having no issues as they have separate servers and not as many folks playing most likely.

I buy 2k every year, this is the year when I finally pass on 2k at launch - and will only buy when it's in deep sale, or maybe just skip it this year.

Has any "no brainer" franchise ever been run to the ground that quickly???

Not too long ago NBA 2K was hands down the best sports game. Then they fucked it all up (for me) with making myCareer a pay to win affair, now I hear about server issues.
Haven't bought a 2K game since 2K15 and probably never will.
Which is sad, because the present day NBA features sooooo many amazing players and intriguing teams, it's insane.

its probably why most wait for that black friday sale and get it for MyLeague and MyGM.........which MyLeague now is fully functional online as well with every feature...........so its a really good value at $40 when it drops

Huge basketball fan here, bought every game up to 2k15 but slowly noticed things changing. Waited for 2k16(?) till it was free on PSN and haven't bought one since; just can't support them ruining this series with their current VC implementation.

It's a shame though since I used to really like the games.

MyGM is all I care about. I just want to create a fake team, locate it in Las Vegas, and make Solid Snake, Liquid Snake, Naked Snake, Batman, and Superman starters and have Wolverine be a backup center who somehow manages to dunk on everyone and block shots in spite of him being 5'3".

At this point I wish they would just release the My Player any My team modes separate from the My GM and regular multiplayer. There doesn't seem to be a ton of overlap anymore. I keep rooting for the Live team, but it seems they still have a ways to go to compete with 2k when it comes to on the court stuff. I find mysel rotating sports games every 3 years or so, but I may skip out on 2k this year, which is a huge bummer given basketball is by far my favorite sport, to the point where I've written about it now for around a decade.

So how's the VC situation? The last game I had was 2k17 which was plaque with low VC payout and too many stats, skills, etc to use VC on, and I skipped on 2k18 since I heard it's worse.

VC bullshit aside, I still don't understand how they launched a game where you could blow-by your opponent any time you wanted to press and hold turbo.

Not true from what I've seen. You can get past someone at times but they can reposition themselves to still defend the move. Solid team defense negates a dribble god. In Live 18/19 once you get past someone the game becomes super easy. Just have enough speed to get past someone and score.

This is my first fully bought 2k since 2014 on PS3 and I'm looking forward to buying it on the 11th.

Decided to grab it on Switch so I could take it on the go. I was surprised to see the 20th anniversary edition already on sale for 10 bucks off for the Switch.

Would be interested in your impressions. Some reddit reports indicate that handheld mode may be closer to 60 fps this year with less input lag, while docked still seems like 30 fps. Will be getting the PS4 version for TV play, but would definitely pick up the Switch version if the handheld is solid.

yes, I wouldn't even bother with the switch version till it hits 60fps, which won't be likely till the next iteration. It felt insanely slow and unresponsive in 2k18

With all the money they make you'd think they'll have all this stable by now. Especially since this is yearly.

This is the First year I don't buy from them... now I Can just watch the problems from afar. Hope things change someday.

movement feels a lot slower and weighted than it did in the prelude.. not sure if i like it yet but i also have been playing online which adds input lag

the three slider needs to be toned down in Play Now Online - doncic had 48 points on me shooting almost 80%. incredibly hard to stay in front of your man with the input delay. feels like 2K18.5 to me. they also got rid of flash pausing

not a mycareer guy but people are saying it's the best story they've had ina while which doesn't say a lot at all but still lol. the 5 on 5 offline gameplay is probably where it's at if you're a sim head.

at the very least they got rid of some of the blow by animation cheese. still motherfuckers online only exclusively holding turbo though.

I heard that they upgraded the servers this year by networking in an extra Dreamcast.

/s

I'll wait this year for the price to drop, I shouldn't have to wait too long.

They going to run out of stamina insanely fast doing that.........I noticed it in my career, so I decided to get more clever with handles and screens. Holding turbo against a lock down defender is going to get them smoked. Plus when they body you and try to force their way through you can easily attempt a steal there and have a decent chance of getting it.

PC servers are godly atm though, its clear that they have no idea what they are doing console side as the shit there is wack, and again its only going to get worse because the console version for general public is Tuesday........the amount of folks playing now isn't even the flood thats going to enter.

MyCareer is by far the best it has been in a LONG time. I've been getting on average 1k to 1.5k VC per game. You have way more options this year to get VC and most basic animations don't cost much anymore. I remember having to spend like 20k VC last year on dribble animations. It's much better on the character side, just don't go to the shops in the neighborhood I saw 8k VC for one fucking tattoo........dear lord. So concentrate on actually playing the game first, VC is much more generous and its probably the easiest to upgrade a player in 2k19 then it was this entire generation. Also getting badges are much, much better this year. I had a bronze badge for difficult shots before I even left china.....and almost have 4-5 total bronze badges after 3 games.

I did notice acrobatic layups activate more often depending on your arc type too, my dude is pulling some DRose shit driving the lane and its so much better with having the shot bar back for layups and stuff.

NBA 2k18 is probably the worst 2k game this gen, while 2k19 seems to actually be the best so far. I'm packing up my stuff to head to my parents house later and play with my little brother. Will post more impressions hopefully tonight on the VC fiasco and see if what we have in the beginning gets better or if they pull and switch and say fuck you down the line.

Does it let you change the length of your socks after Prelude or something? I can't find the option anywhere and these ankle socks are bothering me like shit.

Any clue what you're getting in MyLeague for games or SimCast Live games?

Have not tested this yet, downloading on my laptop.....had the game on the desktop.....will be a little bit.

You got a specific quarter length you looking at? I swear in the past that made a little bit of a difference in how much vc they gave you

So for anyone that has the Switch version in particular (although I suppose this would affect all versions) how big are the save files?

I want to get this so bad on Switch. I just can't get over the player models and lack of clothing physics. They look off and I don't know why.

I generally did 9 min. Thank you for checking.

I did 2 simcast live games and cranked the speed to the max to 6x and It said saving VC to account but when I checked it either didn't go up much, or any at all. Seems like you have to actually play to get per game VC. I didn't feel like checking it out much further. Seems like just playing MyCareer is the best way to get VC. Being a key player or 6th man 20 minutes off the bench gives you a guaranteed 1k VC per game.

The two NBA games seem to be taking turns.

Live was up there and then after the best bball game ever (Live 10) they ruined it with Elite.

2K have now got cocky and greedy and just as it's happening, Live is building a quality product again.

Keyword is building... they aren't there yet based on last year and the demo for this year.

So am I supposed to have the 100k in the Prelude (in the full game)? Trying to get through this.. I hate this set up just let me get to the NBA and play but I certainly do not have the 100k promised to me.

So I guess I didn't look that closely, is the prelude the story part of the My Career? I think you can just do the prelude, is that correct or you can actually start my career and do the prelude as well? I can tell you 100% for certain that I had my 100,000 VC as soon as I started My Career, though it may have been there even before that. I bought it on Steam if that helps.

As for this year, there have been some improvements with microtransactions. Haircuts are free now and they make a big deal about it by telling you that. You do get more VC per game from what I can tell and as has been said, the badge grind feels a bit easier and I think mainly because shooting is a bit easier than it was last year.

I never played the Prelude before the release.. so the game has me going through it right now. And my money is not there.

Yes, my 100k was there immediately last night.

The prelude is literally the story part now. Which you can skip without even going through it. If you make a player and go through just the initial credits/unskippable part before you start your first game. You can remake that same character and you get the option to start immediately in the NBA. Which if you do that I would definitely take the 1 year deal as you would be starting most likely as a roleplayer and not a key reserve or near starter like you would by the end of the prelude.
