With Shane Blacks The Predator coming out next week, Predator fans have been waiting to know if the new movie is any good or not, after a very early "bad script" leak, production problems leading to major reshoots on the movie and bad trailers.

Some first impressions are now coming in and it seems to be mostly positive, with a few not liking it. As a big Predator fan, I'm looking forward to it a lot more now, it sound like it will at least be a fun action movie with plenty of gore.

So I am basically expecting a Shane Black Predator movie that has very clearly gone through reshoots. Yeah sounds about right.

Was this the version without the real predator?

Oof, they didn't cut the worst part of the leaked plot judging by one of those tweets (the script's treatment of autism)

So after seeing the last trailer I'm assuming they completely cut out Jacob Tremblay?

Commercials I've seen for this make it look abysmally bad. Like SyFy movie terrible.

If it's like the first trailer: nay
If it's like the final trailer: yay

It's amazing how you can dramatically change an opinion through editing.

Sounds good to me. Dumb 80's action fun. I think I'll hit the place across the street that serves beer and drink a pitcher while I watch it next week.

IGN gave it a 6/10

The Verdict
The Predator is, in many ways, a throwback to what made the 1987 original so beloved: it includes many of the same elements, such as the rowdy camaraderie amongst absurdly macho protagonists, a debauched wit, and a primal battle between man and beast. It's a shame when everything splinters apart in the haphazard and shoddy-looking last half-hour, largely derailing what began as a promising entry in the wildly inconsistent franchise.

Like all the Predator sequels, it's gonna divide peoples opinions, some will love it some will hate it. There are clearly issues with it (like most movies) but it depends on how picky you are, if you can look past the problems and still enjoy it or not.

For me, I'm just happy to get another predator movie that looks like a ton of fun, with lots of gore, action and some comedy mixed in.

Yeah. Noticed this too. Haven't read any real spoilers of what leaked before the reshoots but will after seeing the movie next week. I'm interested to see if Fox/Black took a good/bad 3rd act and actually reshot it worse.

From what I've heard, it's not that the 3rd act / reshoots are totally terrible (opinions may vary though) but the reshoots are pretty apparent, so things don't gel together as much as they would if it was all one shoot.

Relentlessly funny, fun, funny bits is exactly what I want in my Predator movies :/

When dump fun is the only positive thing you can say about a movie chances are it's simply pure trash.
