I swung and threw a barrel off the top of a super tall skyscraper, and I literally couldn't believe how far it went. It never actually disappeared either, even when it was what seemed like miles away, it just ended up curving behind a building in the far distance out of my line of sight. The draw distance on objects seems mighty impressive.
Not liking how often random street crimes are appearing, it feels like every 20 seconds. I just want to roam around in peace at times. Besides that, I'm loving this. Admittedly, the open world parts already feel a bit repetitive but the gameplay is so good I'm still enjoying it.
Got my copy here on the East Coast, its installing now on my Pro. Watching the Eagles vs the Falcons now. Gonna attempt to play tomorrow night after the gym and i putt my daughter to sleep. So hopefully from 8:30pm-11pm will be all Spiderman tomorrow night for me!!
It's crazy isn't it? I was waiting for it to disappear like it usually does in games. I'm going to try and follow one next time.

Unlock the trick moves when you can. It's pretty fun doing somersaults and spins etc from random elevations and getting small bursts of XP for your tricks. Just wish there were a greater variety of tricks, like comic book poses etc. Would have been awesome for photo mode.
I tried to get at this in the review: if you treat it like Arkham combat, you're not getting the full experience. You're supposed to rely far more on gadgets and environmental objects. You treat it like Arkham, you won't be getting the highlight levels of the challenges done. You need to focus on gadget combos and whatnot. Completely different.
This really is the best way to go. I believe Horizon had something similar as well.

Manhattan is over 13 miles long, in real life. The Spider-Man map cuts off Manhattan at the lower part of Harlem, a few blocks above the North end of Central Park, so there is a chunk of the island that just isn't in the game.
And of course, the rest of the map doesn't have every single block of the rest of Manhattan, it is shorter and thinner than the real thing.
Still, going from one end to the other, the player set a map waypoint that was over 3 miles away from the starting point. To model a city, in full density (all urban), for that span of distance in a videogame, is impressive.

Agreed. I'm hitting the different mini checklists in combat scenarios more and more now. I guess it was Insomniac's way of nudging people to be a bit more experimental whilst simultaneously getting rewarded for it (more tokens).
When I first swung an electrical cabinet and it straight fried a whole circle of enemies, I was genuinely surprised. Who knew a random environmental object could be so effective.
Texas Bros! I'm in Fort Bliss in El Paso and I've already seen multiple people come in to pay off their preorders for Spider-Man. This game is about to sell gangbusters.

Best use of the touch bar outside map scrolling. It was just so easy to see what was going on with a quick touch while keeping the cinematic look instead of jumping through menus to see the map for a second or two.
I remember Halo 3. Man those lines were nuts.

Digital Foundry had little to no problems with the performance in the game anyway.
Sony's weird, edgy new ad guy. I think they introduced him with Tekken 7? He's been in a lot of ads.

How slow is this install? Its been 30 minutes just staring at the ps4 menu. Usually ps4 discs are installed in seconds and then install the rest in the background.

True but I'd pick an unlocked framerate if the option were there. I'm not having any framerate problems though
