The idea is that people would just leave the thread open, and not check gaming.
yeah, a thread for only spoilers would be better, if they want to do something.

I for one salute you for trying. I'm gonna avoid all of gaming internet and Era so having a spoiler free thread would be really nice just so I can see the rescheduled direct time.

At least Nintendo legitimately leaked a game out despite the Direct is postponed. It's blowing up on Reddit right now.
The idea of shin Megami tensei 5 being the game that made them delay it out of respect piques my interest. I would love to see footage of the game running and to see a release window
Hard to know what is a spoiler or not since we don't know the content of the direct...

Anything that was planned to get announced, will be likely announced, on twitter, and in new threads (like that possible Yoshi thingy). Kinda hard to avoid. The Direct is not going to air next Monday (because first day of the week) nor on Tuesday (because 9/11, specially if there's a disaster themed game).
The Direct will be on Wednesday September 12th or later, so an extra 1 day to make it an exact 7 day delay wouldn't be surprising.

Because people will make threads with spoilers in the title no matter if there's a spoilers thread. That's why a spoiler-free thread is the only solution for those looking for the full surprise.
I'm not one of those, but I still understand why they'd want that.
People don't want spoilers and yet are speculating what game could be in the Direct. No one is going to leak the contents of the Direct unless they want to be blacklisted by Nintendo, are willing to break embargo/NDA, and want to deal with swift repercussions.
With that approach there's still the big risk of someone posting a fresh leak straight onto the front page. With a spoiler-free thread you have the case where people who want special treatment (not being spoiled) can make a small personal sacrifice (for lack of a better term) to gain that special treatment, with your approach you're asking the majority who want leaks to deliberately suppress themselves in order to make the minority happy. I consistently hear arguments from those fine with spoilers that they "don't like having to tip-toe around spoilers" and, with a spoiler-free thread, they literally wouldn't have to. It's a win-win situation, and the only reason there's any issue is because it was locked.
Last-minute circumstances mean that Nintendo habits about Directs are off in this case.
My prediction is that it's going to be announced tomorrow for Monday. There's stuff that has to go out before Famitsu is released.

Is the game that is too insensitive possibly COD: Blackout? We did have rumors saying Cod BR but not BLOPS 4 is coming to Switch.
