Not technically eShop I suppose, but it seems like the announcement Annapurna Interactive had for today is physical copies of Gone Home, and a physical OST.

What's on your Wishlist, btw? Or just list the Top 5 you're most eager to play.

Also, is the Switch the only platform you want these titles for?

A bunch of popular indies, some of which would be double-dips from Steam or PS4 that I don't feel compelled to spend full price on again. (Sonic Mania, Shantae, Battle Chasers, a bunch of the well-knowns that take up a bulk of the list)

Others include ACA titles and some Psikyo shooters, some heavy-hitters that will never go on sale(MK8) but I keep on the list as a reminder to consider at some point even at full price.

Gonna buy a few of the NeoGeo fighting games but can someone remind me which ones allow you to continue against a boss with them having reduced health? Can't remember off the top of my head which ones allow this.

direct feed of the Switch ver of Gone Home. Looks fine. Commentary feature is included, which is a nice bonus.
Price is about the same as Steam, ($1 cdn more possibly)

The commentary track is lively & informative (talks about talent being hired & its game development).

The story is quite sad & simultaneously uplifting. I played it on the PS4 & it's a favorite game of mine! Anyone seeking a pleasant walking-sim should consider Gone Home.

Physical version looks great too!

Yep. I played through it on PC. Love the game and the soundtrack

Considering a double dip

I really like Gone Home, but $15 is too much at this point. It's not a standout in its genre (at least, not in 2018) and it's very short with basically zero replay value.

Damn, 'Monkey King: Master of the Clouds', other shmup classic arcade port, has seen a phantom release in the European eshop.

Before pushing the buy button, because I fucking adore this game, I need to know if the game includes a CRT shader with scanlines.

If some brave soul purchase the game or can find any video footage of this Switch version online, it will be really appreciated.

Oh, this is cool! I never played the original, only "Cloud Master" on my Master System!

I like you adore this game so I bought it in a heart beat....WRONG DECISION.
this port has been a major disapoitment. No display options AT ALL.Like 0!your forced to a windowed wallpaper all the time....no difficulty settings...and worst of all the game runs like horse shit in handheld mode. I'm traveling so haven't tried docked.AVOID until further updates. How hard can it be to mess this shit up.

... well, this is not cool :(

I'll take this chance to ask again since I got no answer early, is the emulation any good in these? How's the input lag in handheld mode? Thanks.
I just bought Metal Slug, and it seems to run pretty accurately. There's slowdown present that I'm pretty sure was just there on the regular hardware and I wasn't experiencing much in the way of input lag. I guess Nintendo wouldn't have partnered up with them if they weren't at least doing somewhat of a good job.

Also, I guess as this is the first ACA title I've purchased, it's astounding how much of a gap there is between what Hamster does with their arcade stuff and what Flying Tiger does with theirs.

The ACA NeoGeo sale is up on the NA eShop now. The following games (which we all knew about being on sale elsewhere) are on sale for $4.79

Alpha Mission II
Fatal Fury 2
Super Sidekicks
Metal Slug
Art of Fighting
King of Fighters '94
Burning Fight
King of the Monsters
Samurai Showdown
Puzzled

Ok, I need to choose three games from that list... hmmm...

I absolutely suck at fighting games, and I suck even more at SNK fighting games. I also know that sequels are way better, buuuuuut... I have some fond memories of a weekend I rented the Sega Genesis port of Fatal Fury 2, so I might grab it -- even though it's an old game, it will look super-hot to me because I'm coming from the Genesis version!

I also have fond memories of a weekend playing King of Fighters ninety-something on my Sega Saturn, but I already suck at one-on-one fights and things get way more complicated with teams, so I'll probably never play any KoF game again ^_^

Burning Fight looks fun. I like beat 'em ups. How hard is it? Can you change the difficulty? Is it too short? When I grab games like this on consoles, I refrain from using more than 3 credits so it can be a challenge for a while.

Now I have to choose between Super Sidekicks (I'm not into soccer at all, but it's been years since I played a soccer game, so why not?), Alpha Mission II (is it any good?) and Metal Slug (for some weird reason, I've never played a Metal Slug game for more than 5 minutes).

I'm not joking when I say that indeed, via patches, they made the game even worse in portable mode.
Wow, quite an achievement…

Basically, in the release day, the game was in a sub-native resolution, the lower resolution that I have found in a Switch portable game. But thanks to this blurriness, the game looked with some antialiasing.

In the last patch, they increased the resolution in some parts, being still sub-native, BUT they also eliminated any type of antialiasing. So now, the game looks even worse than a Playstation 1 early 3D game connected to a LCD television in some parts. It's like a festival of jaggies.

If you can live with the most dramatic graphic downgrade ever seen in a Switch game, including reducing a lot of effects and elements in the scenario respect to the Steam and PS4 versions, the game is perfectly playable. I completed this, without bugs, and I need to say, without slowdown. My only problem is how terribly looks in the handheld screen.
Mmm… that doesn't sound too good. I can live with jaggies, but I don't have a good relationship with sub-native resolutions (Snake Pass being my limit).

this is still an European cinematic platformer.
And that's why I've always had it on my radar…

And to say to a fan of cinematic platformers, skip this game because it's a mediocrity, I know that it's not an option. And your desire of playing any game resembling 'Another World', will you make to push the purchase button, as I did, after reading all the terror stories regarding this Switch version :)

So my dear friend Arturo , I see you in a hell reserved for those that purchased this port of 'Black: The Fall' :)
Shit, I should stop lying to myselft. Exactly, that's not an option… See you in hell, I guess… XD

Thanks a lot for the comments!

They actually brought the discounts stateside, good for them! I had my doubts they would even bother. Picked up Metal Slug and Alpha Mission II. Here's hoping we'll get more ACA sales in the future, particularly on the rest of the Metal Slugs and any of the other shmups.

Is Videokid good?

It is basically Paperboy but is their version good for $5?

I posted my impressions about the game the last week. If you are looking for a contemporary take in 'Papeboy', this will for sure scratch this itch.

But it also has some very annoying things, like not saving your high score which in an arcade game is criminal, so you never know if you are improving in the game.

The game was designed for phones, but finally released in PC and later in consoles, so the mobile interface including a pause button in the screen is still here.

And design wise, it lacks more testing and feedback from real players, it really shows that this is the first game created by this developer. An example, you can jump in the cars to make tricks and increase your score. But it's completely inconsistent regarding which cars can kill you if you jump above them. Imagine that you are trying to make a high score, jumping in every single car. But a random car kills you when you try this. The only way to know this is to memorize which cars are here for jumping, and what have been placed as obstacles.

This, in a fast paced arcade game will generate tens of cheap deaths without having a complete control over the game.

Plus I suffered from a bug, crashing the game always in the same part, when I tried to play this in docked mode with a Pro controller. I don't know if this bug appears caused by the Pro controller or by using the docked mode. The bug its not here in portable mode, I have spent a lot of hours playing in portable mode without problems.

So I will say: it's a game that I personally enjoyed, a lot. Because it scratched an itch that none other game is scratching: a fast paced 'Paperboy' with some random elements, a cool scoring system influenced by 'OlliOlli' and a lot of 80s references.

But it's also a game with a lot of flaws, very far from perfection. I can only recommend this if you are really nostalgic about 'Paperboy'.

Also trying to decide which NeoGeo games to grab. I have none of this selection, so I guess Metal Slug, Alpha Mission II, Burning Fight and King of the Monsters are a given.

Any of the others worth getting? I haven't played an SNK fighting game since I owned a NeoGeo, well over 20 years ago, and I remember nothing.

I can only buy one neo geo game, which one is the best? I like all genres

How good of a puzzle game is puzzled?

I'm also thinking the same thing, how is 'Puzzled', and if it's possible, a feedback from someone with real experience with the game, not a commentary of "this scored very low in Nintendolife".

Talking about 'Alpha Mission II', I can only recommend you this game if you're very experienced with the genre. The game is not very hard in its initial part, this is not a problem. My problem is that the weapon and item system is giving me a headache, very complex. A game that requires to read a detailed guide to really understand how the weapons, the power ups or the special attacks are upgraded.

Amazing music, thought. And amazing graphics with have other problem, the layout in the first level is so inspired in 'Star Force', that all the time I think, why I'm not playing 'Star Force' instead.

The worst part is that 'Astro Bears Party' and 'One Strike' are truly good games.

Like seriously, 'Astro Bears Party' has been one of my greatest surprises this year, because after some effusive recommendations by friends, I had zero hopes in the game. An its main arcade mode has resulted in a score-attack masterpiece, and one of the best takes in the Snake/Tron formula since the seminal 'qrth-phyl'.

It's so good that I purchased the other game by this studio, 'VSR: Void Space Racing', only to show my support.

Axiom Verge is 50% off. Think I'll snap it up as long last. £7.50 is hard to turn down.

Ignore the negative comments about 'Axiom Verge', while it's not perfect or not the best open world platformer, you will have an absolute blast with the game. Amazing soundtrack, amazing ambience and a very clever gimmick using the concept of glitches. The sound design, and how immensely satisfactory feels to destroy things is exemplary. I miss HD rumble, the bosses are not so stellar and trying to do a second playthrough in this Switch version I lost my interest because at the end, the combat parts are not as interesting. But I will never forget the first time that I completed this in Steam, the game was able to captivate my imagination for weeks. Truly remarkable, coming from a one man studio. Thomas Happ even learned how to compose music with a computer to make the soundtrack. And ironically, he won a lot of prizes thanks to this soundtrack :)

While the game can't compete with other masterpieces in the genre, such as 'La-Mulana', 'Toki Tori 2+' or 'Environmental Alpha' which is for me the holy trinity of open world platformers, I think that part of the magic of 'Axiom Verge' is thanks to its imperfect nature, and the ambitious concept behind its development: a single developer, trying to catch the magic of 'Super Metroid', pursuing the dream of staying independent.

Where's Primate Ryan posting all his useful feedback about new releases? Man, we miss you in this September thread :(

I haven't played much. I'm currently only playing Mini Metro (bought Into the Breach, but only played the tutorial) just before I go to bed and most of my gaming time has been spent on Heroes of the Storm on pc. I'm so sorry. I did type out tens of posts though! But then promptly deleted them before posting, because that's a thing I do.

Currently, September isn't really appealing to my tastes. Not enough interesting puzzle, adventure or coop games announced yet. The Gardens Between is an almost certain buy and I'm wondering if Surgeon sim is fun in coop, but I already played most of this month's late ports and there is no double dip potential.

Mini Metro is a great little game though. And it seems like my gf is currently addicted to the game. It's always interesting to see what kinds of games she is attracted to as she comes from a different gaming background. She didn't game all that much before she met me, besides loving Etrian Odyssey, The Sims, Tetris and some free-to-play tower def games. I introduced her to tons of games and I never know what will stick. Popular titles were Puyo Puyo Tetris, Slime-San, Nine Parchments, Mini Metro, Pode, Snipperclips, Just Shapes and Beats, Levels+, Framed, Death Squared, Steredenn, Wizard of Legend, Hungry Shark World, Picross, Overcooked, Detention, Aegis Defenders, Graceful Explosion Machine, Toki Tori 2 and Putty Pals. She basically hates most AAA games, because she doesn't care about the story and just wants to play.

Nine Parchments is the absolute favourite though and we finally finished that on hardcore last week and are now ready to really explore the challenge maps, as you kind of need to unlock the max level for your characters to get good scores there. We've put over 60 hours in this game by now and it has become one of my favourite eShop games since release. Forcefully, as she made me play it with her. :D

Thanks for the feedback, hopefully I enjoy the game as much as you seem to have. The big thing I relate to you off the bat is the admiration for indie developers creating top quality game in a beloved genre.

I'm glad that you are doing fine! I was thinking in you precisely because I was under the impression that 'Planet Alpha' was your jam.

And your girlfriend has an exquisite taste, I 100% coincide with her, specially in 'Etrian Odyssey' and how boring is for me story in non-narrative focused games, I want action or mechanics 100% of the time. So we have a problem, and it's that while I had zero interest in 'Nine Parchements' after playing the demo, now your girlfriend has 100% sold me the game.

And damn, I also blame you. Because I'm trying to not double dipping in 'Mini Metro', and you have bring to my memory how amazing is.

Keep in mind that you won't get as much out of NP if you play it solo, because of how all the resistances and enemy types make it more fun to play it with other players and their set of spells to complement your own. It gets better once you have more spells in your arsenal, but I also think it's a game you (Epilexia) could safely skip, based on what you tend to like.

And you aren't necessarily wrong about Planet Alpha, but I'm kind of worried about its performance on Switch.
