I wonder if it has to do with people expecting a Bamco character? I don't remember seeing Lloyd as a popular request from Japan much before. I thought it would've been like Jibanyan or Arle Nadja.
Also, Skull Kid is definitely riding on leak coaster hype. He is sort of cool, but no one cared for him before "leaks".

I wish it was for other reasons, but I'm kind of glad there was no direct today. I have a case presentation tomorrow that's already hard to focus on because of all the political news stories today-- imagine if I had a Goku in Smash trailer popping up on my news feed too.
I don't think many would disagree with this. Difference is, Skull Kid still has a chance at getting in. And Skull Kid is still mighty popular regardless.

Skull Kid still has a chance but why? Does he even deserve it? Make him an assist trophy. He isn't more popular than Midna. Midna is an assist so SK should be too.
The thing about this poll is that it's super-recent and obviously influenced by the common speculation regarding the roster. When people go berserk for Skull Kid for a month because of chairs and other nonsense, of course he's going to show up at the top.Even more polls! Ok, while this is another Small sample from online voting and could be argued that real voting would be different, who would actually be on top? Who would be characters that would get a lot of votes even if their presence online is Small?
And of course, that's even assuming that it's real in the first place.

I mean not really. He doesn't really laser spam like Vegeta. His power pole and nimbus would be pretty cool, but he'd be just as cool if they were to ever use adult Goku. He's a pretty creative fighter.
I mean, he has a chance in that his AT hasn't been revealed yet, unlike Midna. Not saying he makes sense at all but as long as a glimmer of hope remains, he will have fans rallying for him hence the rank (even though it may be fake.) Plus don't count out how thirsty Zelda fans really are for a new character.
Personally, Hyrule Warriors has me sated on Zelda picks. Would be hard rallying for Zant otherwise!

Majora's Mask is a much more iconic and beloved game than Twilight Princess and Skull Kid is one of the most recognisable characters from the 3D Zelda series.
People have been talking about Skull Kid being a potential fighter for a looooooong time well before any of these recent "leaks".
I think Lloyd and Heihachi have been the most popular Bamco requests I've seen. Klonoa being another semi-popular request I've seen.
Neither Jibanyan or Arle Nadja are Bamco, unless you were just mentioning them as general 3rd party picks.

Yeah I was just using them as examples of characters I would have expected to show up on Japanese polls. I was wondering why Lloyd would show up unless people really believe we are getting another Bamco character.
You know, why dis recent polls? We know some of them absolutely wouldn't make in, but why ignore what fans think of character choices currently? There is always chance that newer characters replace older ones, but such is life.
The music rule is dumb and should not be taken as fact. Especially after the Sakurai interview yesterday. Say we got Bandana Dee (just an example) but no composers opted to arrange any Kirby music from RTDL forward. Bandana Dee would instead have a rip from RTDL play over his reveal trailer, no remix "theme" of his own.
Or, you know, Sakurai could just drop a second Kirby remix on the site because he can.
Majora's Mask is more popular than TP, Skull Kid is is on the cover and is the main villain, both Midna and Skull Kid had one game of relevancy so I wouldn't say she's more important than him
Just the Wii version of Twilight Princess sold more than the N64 and 3DS versions of Majora's Mask combined. I agree that Majora's Mask is a better game but Twilight Princess has a lot of fans. I'd be very surprised if Midna was not the most popular one-off Zelda character. If Skull Kid gets in you can bet the first thing people ask will be "if he's in why isn't Midna?"
Ridley was accompanied by a Brinstar song so I think they would have just saved City Trial for Bandana Waddle Dee

They could have, or they could have no had a remix at all, or they could have not put the remix up on the site like the many featured in character trailers. All these "could haves" just prove that the music rule means nothing.
Yuri from ToV is more popular than Lloyd. Lloyd is only more popular in discussions specifically among Smash fans because his games were first on a Nintendo console.
If Midna isn't in the roster then SK needs to sit his butt down as well.
You also have to remember that Majora 3D was coming out right as the design document for Ultimate was being done. It would be logical if they reached for him as a new Zelda rep.
