I haven't started mine yet luckily. I also haven't been in the loop on the collection's issues. What will they be fixing?

Was planning to start Shenmue 1 as soon as the patch hit, but I guess I'll do with a certain friendly neighbourhood red and blue superhero.

I am almost at the end of Shenmue 1 and have not had too many issues (Xbox version). But I have encountered a few times where QTE's are messed up. There are certain QTE that you have to get through, and there have been a few times where I hit the right button or d-pad direction and the game says it is wrong. I also had issues with one of the QTE arcade games doing the same thing. Have not had the cut scene issues. But will wait for this patch before starting Shenmue 2.

Wow, this is some bs. Wasted money on this:/

I won't be fucking with Sega in the near future as a result. They should've and could've handled this situation way better.

I got the platinum for both games and I didn't encounter any game-breaking bugs. What are the problems everyone is getting with the game?

Looks like I keep waiting. I'm not buying a shenmue where I can't see my capsule toys, damnit.

Just...make it work and then I give you money, sega.
See how easy that is?

Seriously, hurry too. This is taking all the willpower I have to not just say fuggitall and buy it. I love shenmue :(

Well I've only got ~1hour left of my so far bug-free Shenmue I playthrough before I was planning on shelving 2 until things get less hectic schedule/life wise. Looks like a good plan :)

Sucks for everyone that hasn't been as lucky though.

Just FYI, the PC version appears to be the best version of the game, with multiple patches (including another one in testing currently) and fewer issues due to that. Obviously that doesn't help those with the console version already, but hopefully the patches will bring it up to the standard of the PC version.

I remember when a few Shenmue communities were criticizing people for playing the games early because they were missing out on the huge day 1 patch.

Good thing we have Spider-Man and several other games to play this month.

I already finished Shenmue 1, but 2 can wait.

Lmao wow

Was going to fire it up this weekend finally, but I guess I'll just wait a little longer to avoid any complications.

My purchasing decision will also be delayed then. Will not support broken releases at launch come on it's not 2014 anymore.

This release is a mess. I just hope Sega will manage to fix all issues so we can have a proper Shenmue version always available and purchasable.

I've been holding off on playing my digital copies, I'll continue to hold off. I've waited 17 years, I can wait another couple weeks. Not at all upset that I supported this at launch... but not at all surprised there are challenges post-release.

Let me be perfectly clear (politician here):

It's not unplayable by any means, but it's extremely sloppy and certain aspects of the game are definitely unplayable. The worst crimes of all are the 'effed-up cutscenes, QTEs that don't work correctly, completely messed up Shenmue 2 music, and broken mini games. These all seem to pop up for everyone without fail. I can't imagine Sega or D3T actually missed these items.

It's just sad that the Shenmue fans among us, including me, waited for years for simple ports and got a very slapped together product. I was even able to look past the fact they couldn't even fix the horrendous voice samples. Yeah, we knew we weren't getting the Kiwami treatment, though some of us hoped for that, but we didn't expect ports that were loaded with bugs.

Some people seem to be perfectly ok with that. Good on them. I think it just hurts the franchise's reputation. The games are already known for being kinda dated and janky, and I don't expect these bugs will help that.

I think I'll delay my play through of this for a few months. Until then either the patches have done their work, or at least a few fans will have found ways of mitigating them somewhat. Kaldaien is already fixing stuff like the framepacing.
