(CNN)Police are responding to a report of an active shooter at a Fifth Third Bank location in Cincinnati's Fountain Square, authorities tweeted Thursday.

Luckily this isn't Oktoberfest weekend because there would definitely be a high amount of casualties in that area if so.

Hope for the best. :(

According to the Cincinnati councilman P.G. Sittenfeld there are fatalities.

At least 3 injured and fatalities have been confirmed according to that story. A German tourist saw the guy walking around firing. A woman was shot walking into a bank because she was wearing headphones and didn't hear a shouted warning.

I hope the government actually tries doing something. Thoughts and prayers don't mean shit. It's not the guns. It's the people. It's not the people. It's the guns. Etc. Repeat in a week or two.

Well this hits far closer to home than I've ever wanted. I work north of the city but have been down in that area a ton. Oktoberfest is just a few weeks away too.

It's really quite scary how reluctant the US Government is to consider any change to gun control laws given that we hear so many stories of shootings now.

As someone has already said in the thread though, if they won't change anything after schools have been shot up and children murdered well, they'll never change.

RIP to the victims of yet another atrocity that should never have happened.

I don't even believe that a majority of Americans want to live like this anymore. It's literally the tyranny of an insane minority (plus the gun lobby) holding us hostage.
I think you are giving Americans too much credit.

We have a lot of crazy people in this country.

Even taking gun control out of it this happens on a regular basis and our government does nothing. Not even any research which is the very least those chickenshit cowards could do. And we as people don't do enough to express our outrage other than posting stuff on twitter or Facebook.

Well I'm sure it's not something a good ol' bucket of thoughts and prayers can't fix! smh

And now, for the Republican response:

Someone be a dear and replace "Virginia" with "Cincinnati" for me, would you? TIA

Thoughts and prayers will save the day.

Rather than any actual action that might address the issue.

Never?, seems like it's just part of life in the US now.

Its disgusting. I feel almost indifferent to this because it litterally keeps happening and no one in power seems to care.

Like I almost thought "oh boy another shooting" and scrolled right by before I slapped myself. I cant vote either so I just feel super useless.

I guess it's the Democrats' turn to be stupid and tone-deaf today. I can't even...

It's just a saying....

The real issue is their legislative record. If they are completely anti gun control and they say this every time, then you can skewer them--like Rubio.

Am I crazy or is this like a bi-weekly occurrence? I feel like this shit happens every other week.

Repeal the 2nd

Damn dude I work downtown and was about to head over there around that time to meet up with a friend. Thankfully we both got busy and weren't able to leave
