All of these threads about how much better indie games are selling on the Switch has me thinking about Valkyria Chronicles 4.

I love the series, and I'm so glad it's back on consoles. But I'm really worried about the hype surrounding this game. I don't see enough people talking about it. And with big titles on the other consoles coming out this month (Dragon Quest, Spiderman, Tomb Raider, etc), I'm really worried sales elsewhere are going to be really soft.

If I don't see one of these "x game sold really well on the Switch!" threads about Valkyria 4, I'm going to be super disappointed. Especially when the game is launching day and date on the Switch as well.

Don't let me down Switch fans! I love this series too much.

Well I won't be helping matters I'm afraid. I'm already planning on buying Spider Man and Tomb Raider as well as Undertale and the Switch Online for September so VC4 is gonna have to wait. Kinda ironic that.

And by the time October comes around I'm more likely to buy the first VC on Switch than 4 so... yeah.

Just like any platform, Switch owners won't just buy anything. There needs to be some kind of excitement and interest, the same as what the PS4 release needs. I hope it does well but unless people desire it I don't think just being on Switch gives it any more of a shot.

It'll probably do alright!

Its coming out in a really busy season so I don't think I'll be there at launch .

These "Switch fans" are actualy people who just buy games they are interested in, on a device they most comfortably play on (in this case, Switch). They are not game-hungry Switch owners who bites at every good game thrown at them.

Have it preordered for switch, though I think I'll be playing through XB Torna first.

I think I can only afford Spider-Man this month, but I do have an interest in VC4.

They better be. It plays great and looks great on Switch. People who are disappointed by the lack of Fire Emblem this year should get this, is the next best thing.

I will get both VC and VC4 on Switch.

Edit: to further elaborate, I am getting the Japanese versions. I don't buy them on steam as the steam versions do not have Japanese language option.

I'm a Switch owner, but I'm buying it on PC. At launch. Probably twice. The port even has ultrawidescreen support!

I do hope VC4 will do well everywhere, the series needs to continue (and not as a compromised anime school game or - god forbid - a mobile gacha simulator).

No, why should I? I don't care about this series. Bought the first one on Steam centuries ago and haven't started it yet. Wanting games to be released on Switch doesn't mean you need to buy them all. In fact, since Valve added regional pricing in my country I stopped buying non-exclusive games on Nintendo's console.

Already bought it, will get VC1 as well.

I think the game will do well and might pull a Ys VIII outpacing the other versions. Fire Emblem's delay probably helps. At the same time I'm not expecting it to be a huge seller either.

Late August - Early September has destroyed my wallet between Kiwami 2, Zone of the Enders, Spider-Man, and Divinity OS2. Sorry Valkyria Chronicles 4 gonna have to wait until you're in the bargain bin for me to get around to you maybe if you came out July - Early August.

I will be getting this at some point, just not at launch. I have far to much to play on the Switch alone never mind adding in the PS4. Likely won't be buying anything for the next 2 months on either console. Missing out in Spiderman and Dragon Quest :(

It's coming out an an unfortunate time, I don't think it's going to do amazing but it will do well enough in segas eyes, I reckon.

I tried the demo to test if the port was of quality and it was, as soon as I was done with the demo I pre ordered and paid in full the premium edition. Sega have been doing well bringing great games over recently, kudos to them.

I think the games sales potential will be brought down by the surrounding games in Sept/Oct but I think it will do well enough.

I already have my copy preordered.
The one with the scale Halfen tank.

Considering I have played the first game on Steam but never finished it, I feel finaly having it on Switch means I get to complete it.

How have other 3rd party anime games done on Switch? ys 8, shining resonance etc. it'll probably be in line with those, maybe a bit better if Nintendo highlights it a bit. Anime games are a different and more niche audience than the indies that we keep hearing about blowing up on switch.

Most Switch owners don't just own a Switch. Many will be picking up Spiderman or Tomb Raider etc just the same.

I'll get it on Switch, but not at launch.

Well they're not gonna rally behind Spider-Man or Tomb Raider.

VC4 and Xenoblade 2 Torna are the biggest releases on Switch this month so I expect VC4 to sell pretty well on Switch. That's where I'll be playing it.

I don't think indie games with minor differences between versions are comparable to a game that objectively looks considerably better in PC/PS4.

I'm totally buying it. I was on the fence until I played the demo and remembered how much I like that core gameplay. I want Sega to make a Shining Force game with that level of production.

I'm not going to tell you what to buy with your money.
But I think it's worth pointing out that Spider-Man will do incredibly well and most likely drop in price much quicker compared to VC4 which needs all the sales it can get and will probably retain it's price longer.

I tried the demo with genuine interest as I've always wanted to get into this game, but the cringe-worthy dialogues and characters, and the borderline misogynist tone of the game, made me realize it really wasn't for me.

Rally behind? I don't know. Consider picking up if it gets advertised and looks cool? Probably.

I'm waiting to buy and finish the Switch version of VC1 before I pick up 4. Given it's coming out in October, that probably won't be until sometime in 2019.

I bought the collector's edition on Switch because my GCU was running out but I don't think I'll be playing it day 1 unless I finish more than I was expecting before it releases or other games get delayed.

It's not a indie game but full priced.
It night perform solid on Switch but we aren't getting that data anytime soon.

I've been meaning to ask you. Does comfy couch come into consideration when buying a game for PC versus something like Switch?

I've been primarily PC for the longest time too but I miss sitting on the couch now and again. I tend to be a graphics nut too so not being able to do 4k over Steam Link bothers me generally.

Since I did't notice any differences with the PS4 version I'm getting this on Switch, special edition and all

Valkyria Revolution dropped in price like a month later. Black Friday is around the corner.
