Given the way they say "this week's Direct" in the tweet, I'm guessing it's a bit longer than a 24 hour delay. Maybe pushed back to Sunday? And yes, the relative short notice of this delay could result in some third parties pulling the trigger on announcing games through other venues.
Yeah, I think scrapping the video is not the best way to move forward. That would be a waste of everyone's time and money. The video is already done, they just have to release it (after some changes).
It's terrible news and for a country only just rocked by a typhoon too :(An awful situation and kudos for Nintendo for respecting those that were affected.
People say 6th September, of course they do. People say both. It's based off how we say it. Nobody says it's the 6th of September, 2018. Most people say it's September 6th ,2018.
A weekend Direct is a good bet, as well. I'm still of the opinion that they will want to try to keep it within the expected marketing cycle to make the impact as small as possible on all devs involved.

I don't understand why many Americans don't use 24 hour clocks either.
The splatoon 2 update for salmon run was delayed by a week according to dataminers, presumably to coincide with the new direct time.

It's good to see the majority of people show respect but there are some vile comments out therePeople on Twitter being cynical asking for the direct despite the tragedy that just occurred.
Truly inhuman.
When Nintendo announces a new date, that's when I think it's okay.Since the main Direct thread was closed, and this is now the only Direct discussion thread...at what point will it be ok to start speculating/discussing leaks again here? Without people getting upset about insensitivities?
I think it was a mistake to close the other thread for this reason, but here we are.
Everyone that decides to showcase content in a Direct has to agree to certain terms. One of those terms is surely that Nintendo reserves the right to postpone or cancel the presentation at any time. It's precisely for reasons like this.Understandable. But how does stuff like this work with Nintendo's partners? Say if your game was set to be revealed during the direct and released in a not so distant future.
It seems a few hours have passed and i can't find any news of tsunamis , that's already great news .
Hopefully the situation won't get any worse with the replicas.
As for the direct , if they had to delay it, it's perfectly understandable considering the situation.

So supposedly, the Direct has been pushed back to next Thursday. Apparently the Direct featured a game that would've been considered pretty insensitive all things considered.
