This is one of those games that is best played mostly blind, unspoiled.
It takes 2-3 hours and is essentially you walking around an abandoned house, exploring it by examining items and slowing piecing together what happened while your character was away. The atmosphere is borderline spooky and mysterious.

Can you find all the secret nooks and crannies?

Can you piece together all the clues on what went on in the lives of your family you haven't seen in a year?

Did you turn off the lights in the storage room after you were done snooping around?

Did you put the books back on the shelf?

Is there a ghost in the house?

Why are all the mirrors covered?

Are there easter eggs placing it possibly in the ~Shock and Firewatch universe?

Why aren't the made-up SNES games real?

You will be asking yourself all of these questions and more. Some might even be answered.

A physical Switch release is in the works along with an OST release on vinyl:

Wasn't a big fan of the game. The house was wonderfully designed, but the narrative fell flat to me. At least the game didn't overstay its welcome (many games of this type seem to be an hour or two too long).

The ending seemed to lack any weight. So the sister ran off with her girlfriend, but there was no indication that she was gone forever. For all we know, the player character and the sister reunited shortly in the future.

Also, wasn't a fan of the game intentionally misleading the player into thinking the house was haunted. The house, as I said, was wonderfully designed and creepy enough, but the game added in strange noises like furniture moving and even a woman's voice saying "Hey you!" at one point.

Hear them here:

Didn't really know what I was getting into, when I first played it. Ended up loving it immensely though. Might go back to it again, as it's a pretty quick experience.

Another well loved indie game that I have never played before. Switch has opened my mind to some fantastic games. Golf Story, Hollow Knight, Inside.

There's a lot of accolades in the trailer so I assume Gone Home is as good as those games above.

It's a brilliant game, especially if you're a 90's kid like me and like Riot Grrrl.
The way they use the environment to tell a story is great. The parents' story is at least as good as the girls'.

Be on the lookout for Tacoma too (Fullbright's next game, I don't know if a Switch release is planned).
I just played it on PC and it's a great piece of Sci-Fi if you prefer that setting for your (space)walking simulators.

Just be aware that it's short. And remember to dunk it for the true ending (in both games!).

I enjoyed the game the first time I played through it. It has been a few years since I've done it, maybe I will bite. But I'm so far down the Dead Cells rabbit-hole that I dunno if I'll have the time to do it or not.

Hearing the direction the story takes ahead of time (not specifics, just subject matter and tone) really dampened the experience for me.

It made me wish I hadn't played "Everybody's Gone to the Rapture", so I could re-experience that amazing game, instead of Gone Home. It just doesn't scratch the same itch.

Small bump: If anyone was wondering, the game runs like a charm on Switch (handled). Didn't notice a single frame drop. I know, the game isn't ressources-heavy but it's always something I'm worry about when playing a 3D game on the console (especially coming from Firewatch last week).

Only downside would be the joystick that are a bit "short' for some of the pixel hunting in the drawers. But playing this game in the bed at night with headphones on really makes it the superior version :p

Felt so good coming back to the Greenbriar household. Especially since I had miss a small portion of the house in my initial playthrough.

Edit: Also, it's old news now but:
