Rainway-Tweets.png

Rainway-Blocked.png

As you can see, they claim that I'm mistaken and tried to provide an excuse, stating that they're "just working on more attainable projects" while waiting to possibly be approved by Nintendo. A cordial response, I must admit. Initially, I just shook my head at it and left it at that, then retiring for the night. When I woke, I was met with several Twitter notifications due to people liking my tweet. Upon looking at the thread, I noticed something was off; I couldn't see the original post. I then tapped the Rainway team's main profile, only to find that I had been completely blocked.

I am shocked I tell you. Shocked.

I didn't believe them back when they said this would be on Switch and I'm not surprised. Just say there is no Switch version, I don't understand why this is so hard?

They know they won't get approved. They did it only for publicity. Stop giving them attention.

"Under the rock"?
I would've blocked him too

Being real, this rainway stuff was called out as a publicity stunt ages ago. I honestly forgot it was still a thing

LOL, Rainway thought Nintendo would butcher game sales on Switch. It was clear from day one that it wouldn't come on Switch.

how do you sweep things under a rock

Maybe you don't know because you've been living under a rug all this time.

EDIT: To actually be on topic (sorry about that), this is just repulsive behavior, and really, I didn't hold out any hope this would arrive on the Switch. ...Nor did I care if it did. It's just scummy behavior to do that, though!

They even have a Switch in the announcement video. They absolutely rode the Switch coattails to promote it, knowing full well it would never see the light of day on the Switch.

Someone blocked someone on Twitter. Outrage.

This is a disingenuous post, and I think you were aware of that when you made it. The main point is that someone asked about Rainway, which was originally marketed as coming to the Switch. The apparent reason why the person was blocked is more important than the fact that they were blocked.

And now, I see Jonneh was blocked. Nope. All is well with Rainway, and these people behind it seem AOK and classy folks indeed!

Wow, someone got blocked on Twitter. Tragic.

The main point is that someone asked about Rainway, which was originally marketed as coming to the Switch. The apparent reason why the person was blocked is more important than the fact that they were blocked.

They didn't just ask. They made an accusation. That's a bit different. Blocking people on Twitter is a right they have, and I don't really see a reason for complaint.

Incidentally, the accusation isn't entirely justified. They may very well have asked for approval and Nintendo may very well have refused it.

If I make a clear accusation on Twitter without knowing for sure what's behind the issue (not that I would) and get blocked as a result, I don't think I'd complain about it. Let alone in an article.

The most interesting part is Rainway's reference to "the" rock, as if there's a specific rock they would sweep these things under.

Indeed, no need for drive by posts

Why would they promote the Switch version in the first place if they never got Nintendo approval?

It was misleading from the start and they even had a trailer with Switch as a large focus, and then they went quiet on Switch to no longer being in active development.

Just a reminder for everyone, here's the trailer.

So why talk about being on Switch ad nauseum and release an ad heavily featuring the Switch BEFORE getting approval from Nintendo?

Accusation was entirely justified and then some.

Whoever thought this would actually come to Switch has been pretty delusional. As if Nintendo would ever approve something like this app.
The dev's PR is unfortunate, they already reached out to people on reddit as well it seems to clarify certain misconceptions but their way of handling things seemingly has gone pretty wrong.

They have a perfectly fine answer. There's no controversy or news or anything worth a thread here at all bar "waahhh switch"

The Switch truly is Vita 2.0, where developers and publishers will announce lots of stuff to the platform and then cancelling just for the free press.

Do you know what kind of discourse they had going on with Nintendo at that time?

I don't know whether they had contacts that led them to believe that an approval would come/was possible or not. And I don't believe anyone here does.

When I don't know things, I don't make public accusations.

They are still wrong for saying it WILL come to Switch and for releasing a trailer featuring the Switch. They did not say they are working with Nintendo to get approval or anything. Bottom line, wait until you get approval before making such claims and releasing marketing material. They are 100% in the wrong and people have every right to call them out on it.

Yeah, that's kinda shitty of them.

LOL, Rainway thought Nintendo would butcher game sales on Switch. It was clear from day one that it wouldn't come on Switch.

Rainway or any other PC streaming app wouldn't butcher game sales on Switch and it amazes me that any of you actually believe that it would. Like, the thought doesn't even make sense to me. You guys actually believe that Switch gamers would stop buying games on Switch entirely, and start... buying them on PC.... a PC they may or may not own... to play them on Switch... with noticeable latency... and poorer image quality... and inconsistent stream performance...

???????

it seriously makes so little sense

They did the Project Cars strategy of using naive Nintendo fans to hype up a product, of course they would try to get away from that image as far as they can now that it released.

I don't think anyone is upset that it isn't coming to Switch, as if anyone really believe them, it's that they used the system as a means to push their brand name without even being certified Switch developers. They got a ton of coverage from Nintendo outlets during the Switch's early days and they never even had permission to release on the system.

Not true at all...the app never had a shot of coming to Switch yet they were acting as if Nintendo were already in boardon board.

More importantly ...it sucks seeing how many Era members are always willing and ready to downplay any kind of critsims towards shady developers tactics when Nintendo is involved.
