Looks better than I thought it would, and I figured it would look great.

EW cover is bad but I'm not a big fan of the suit. But was never a big fan of the ones in the comics either. Just too plain to me.

Will watch the movie though if nothing else but for a young Sam Jackson!

Looks really good, was going to say too shiny but that's the EW cover, looks fine in the film. If I was nit picking, tone down the extra details but that's being really harsh.

The film sidesteps the traditional origin-story template, and when it begins, Carol already has her powers. She's left her earthly life behind to join the elite military team Starforce on the Kree planet of Hala. (Directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck describe Starforce as the SEAL Team Six of space.) Its members include Carol, Korath (Djimon Hounsou, returning from Guardians of the Galaxy), and Minn-Erva (Crazy Rich Asians' Gemma Chan).

As someone who don't know anything about how Carol got her powers and is interested to know how, this worries me.

Costume is pretty good, and those photos got me hyped. Give me the trailer now.

So this is based on GotG and AoS but aren't the Kree bad dudes? Does Carol usually start off working with them?
The Kree is an empire. And at some point they form a treaty with the Xandarians, but that wasn't always the case. They are willing to go to extreme lengths to fight the Skrulls, which makes someone like Ronan pretty useful in a ruthless military position.

Carol has always been caught in-between Earth and the Kree with her connection to Mar-Vell.

In the cover the texture of the suit looks very similar to the Iron Spider-suit. Maybe a bit too similar, otherwise the design is great.

So the whole wanting to destroy Xander and enslaving peeps is a relatively new thing for them?

Ronan wanted to destroy Xandar - he was a renegade. The Kree were at war with them, but we don't know what caused that, so you can't really say for sure.

But they've been enslaving Inhumans and stuff for millennia so they're definitely not "good guys." None of the space empires are. They're usually a lesser evil than the Skrulls though.

It's pretty awesome that they're bringing back Lee Pace and the random 'Who?' dude from GOTG. Nice way of making it feel interconnected while still making it a period piece.

We've only seen them like once: Ronan was like a Kree radical who was exiled (though in this movie he's still in good graces). They show up in AoS and Inhumans as the driving force behind the Inhumans but I'm not sure that counts.
