Mech games, are something that has been really interesting to see, because many people automatically go. "Oh you drive in a mech, that's awesome! Imma gonna buy it". Have seen a lot of people even account for "mech games" as it's own genre as well.

I'm extremely curious to find out what people think and what people's experience with mech games are, because I have never really gotten "in" mech games except for one.

What exactly makes mechs so appealing for the videogame industry? Why do you like mechs?

I can't speak for the industry, but I just love mech designs so much. The intricacies and detailed, mechanical, robotic designs that are just so cool. That said, I've only played stuff out of the Gundam series, really, and Titanfall 2--the latter of which I enjoyed more due to the mobility on-foot in combat compared to other first-person shooters rather than the actual mech combat.

Still, there's something awesome about duking it out against another multiple ton titanic mech in battle, especially if they're of the more exotic designed fare like Gundam, which appeals to me the most design-wise. I'm looking forward to trying out Daemon X Mechina when it arrives on the Switch next year.

Yes but there aren't many good ones out there.

Hope Left Alive turns out well.

Not necessarily, but I have no hate for them. I like Cybernator, I'm playing (well, reading) Muv Luv right now which has mechs and shit. I don't mind if it's an element that's kinda there, but hardcore mech-games are definitely not for me.

Only if it's Zone of the Enders or one of the good Front Mission games.

I would love to like mech games, but they barely exist and are mostly low budget.

Well I love Armored Core, but seems like From Software doesn't anymore.

And Front Mission, and Zone of the Enders too... all three have similar fate heh ;_;

I like Into the Breach and want to try Battletech, do those count?

I also have Zone of the Enders HD sitting unopened for my 360. I guess there's just something appealing about cool-looking giant robots fighting.

Yes. Any Mech, any time :)

That's why I'm currently eyeing ZoE 2 in fact (never played a ZoE before), but that'll have to wait a bit between my backlog and too little time.

Also looking forward to Mechwarrior 5 (after having enjoyed Battletech quite a bit in spite of a wonky difficulty rating).

"Oh you drive in a mech. That's a giant skip for me" is my line of thinking. I would be interested in Daemon X Machina if they cut all of the mech stuff, for example.

I did like Xenoblade Chronicles X though!

Yes, but not the action ones. They seem too similar, every time I play one I feel like I've played the game before. They're basically just shooters.

But I adore strategy mech games, such as Front Mission, Super Robot Wars, Battletech, etc.

I'm so looking forward to these.

I like mechs IN games.

My faves are Virtua ON and Vanguard Bandits probably. Some of the Front Mission games are decent.

Absolutely, but I'm particular.

Moreso if it is based on a TV/Movie property.

Love me some giant robots and games that feature them. A shame that it's such a niche genre. Here's to hoping FROM is still working on that new Armored Core.

There is only a thing better than mech designs, and it's distilled in crystal bottles and marketed as whisky.

I liked ZoE 1 and 2, and I'd probably like more if I played more of them, but I'd like to

Is Metal Wolf Chaos a legitimately good game or do people like it because of it's absurd premise?

i think i've liked maybe...2 in my entire life. played a lot of the armored cores but struggle to enjoy them. played chromehounds but hated that even more. really REALLY wanted to enjoy steel battalion, but that was too hardcore for me. tried stuff like hawken...didn't like that either. i keep giving them chances becasue i want to like them...i mean, they're big fucking walking tanks, what's not to like, but i'm always left disappointed.

but i did loved ZOE1/2 and Mechcommander series. and i guess RIGS in PSVR and titanfall 2 if those count?

I'd say 'mech games' are a theme, not a genre. Like 'cute' games and 'war games'.

And yes, I love the mech theme. I've enjoyed action mech games, tactical mech games, turn based strategy mech games...

Loved Mech Warrior series and Chromhounds. Hope Vox Machinae VR turns out well, want a good VR mech game.

I was crushed when I learned this is MP only. Hard pass.

Depends on what you mean by mech games. If you're only talking about games where you pilot a mech like Armored Core, well the only mech game like that I've ever liked was Zone of the Enders.

If you are including strategy games then I like the Front Mission and Super Robot Wars games.

I really liked the Mech Assault games on the old Xbox. If it's third person perspective I like them, but if it's in first person, like Titanfall, it doesn't 'feel' right. In Titanfall 2 I loved how just being the pilot controlled. Not so much in the mech.

I don't know what it is. I can tell you the battletech universe is in particular is irresistible. And mechs in general are a strong draw.

Mainly the action based ones, but yes.

I'd say it's probably my favorite type of game with stuff like Armored Core, ZOE, ACE, VO and Gundam games.

Well, I did like Iron Brigade, and the Mobile Trench Division. That should count, right?

What is a mech game? It's not a genre. Any game can have mechs in it.

I like mech designs so a game may catch my attention initially if I see they're in there, but that's about it. After that it's all down to the game's merits.

I like the action Mech games like MechAssault and Titanfall, not the MechWarrior or BattleTech stuff.

Too slow paced for me.
