The Nintendo Life article says that it's airing at the approximately same time as the general direct of last September (so late night in Europe).
Yeah, I caught that after my post. So, this is almost certainly a general Direct.

Haha yeah.... no one who knows anything is talking and everyone who is talking knows nothing.
Oh I agree with you. NSMBU was my favorite of the modern NSMB games. I loved we had a world map again.I think NSMBU was the best 'new' traditional 2D Mario game, but I also think if they are going to bring one of those over to Switch, it should have been Mario Maker

Though once you bring Mario Maker it nullifies the need for a NSMB game. Mario Maker would have been the better choice but I can see why they would do NSMB first.
Harder but much more interesting level design imo. Luigi also plays like Mario 2.
Why do you think Yoshi is surely happening? My predictions:
Surely happening:
Probably:
- Not happening tomorrow
- Pokemon Let's Go
- Smash Bros Ultimate
- Yoshi game
- Dragon Ball Z fighters
- Mario Party
- The World ends with you
- No more heroes: Travis strikes back
- Dark souls
- Something casual
- Something for 3DS
Not happening:
- New Super Mario Bros U port announced
- First Bayonetta 3 trailer
- First Metroid Prime 4 trailer
- Metroid Prime Trilogy HD announced
- Some new megaton for next year
- New Shin Megami Tensei V info
Here we go
Off the rails
Nintendo raise their sales
It's hype like you never knew
oh we should forget about mother 3 cuzDon't need sleep or a nap
I want Smash Brothers
So cut the crap
I hope we get a new comer or two
If this actually happens I will start believing in god again.Give me N64 Mini with Banjo Kazooie and Banjo Tooie and finish the Direct with Banjo and Kazooie in Smash.
I'm guessing FFXV Pocket Edition will be a game announced. Eh...
The game is now confirmed to be out in 2019, they promised we will see news about it this year, though. It was revealed one year ago and it's supposed to come out this year. Even if it's delayed till 2019, they will surely show something.
They could still have a direct in like December and show it there. The game is now confirmed to be out in 2019, they promised we will see news about it this year, though.

I guess we should make this clear before the announcement. We always get one new game announcement in a Nintendo Direct, but it may not be for the following year.
Really? There's not enough stuff this year to cover a 30-40 minute Direct.Personally, i don't expect to see anything from 2019 in this Direct. Thinking that there will be another general one this year for the first quarter/half 2019 stuff.

They'll probably do a deep dive on Mario Party or something, they love to do that.Really? There's not enough stuff this year to cover a 30-40 minute Direct.
last year september direct we got Wolfenstein 2 scheduled for 2018. who know
We don't know how long it is, there's stuff they can announce for 2018 (like that rumored NSMB U port) and this one's a special one as they have the firmware update and the online service to cover. I'd say there's enough for half an hour without even mentioning 2019. ;]
That wasn't the Mini Direct, that was Switch only. Mario & Luigi was revealed in the March Direct. Still, I still think we could get a 2019 reveal, like Yoshi or more Fire Emblem (though I don't think it will be Metroid; that's Game Awards material)I think they will show something for 2019. Even the Mini Direct in January revealed Mario + Luigi for 3DS for 2019.
Well same thing. You proved my point even more since it was the March Direct lol. I fully expect to see a 2019 game. That wasn't the Mini Direct, that was Switch only. Nintendo Life tweeted that they believe a direct is happening tomorrow, so most of conversation moved to that thread.

Oh. No wonder this didn't get to 50 pages.
No. It's years old.
New 3DS exclusive.I'm expecting a remaster of the former... but on 3DS in 2019 :(
No. It's years old.
It had Iwata, Reggie, and I think Miyamoto. It went "X is falling" (can't remember what X was, maybe Wii U sales). It looked like they were in some sort of falling room due to the pens and camera angle. Iwata went "launching Nintendo direct" and Reggie continued "standby megatons".
Then there was a shot of Mario from within a fighter jet, who replied "Let's a go!". There might have been a shot of the plane from the outside after that.
