I agree that in general, the full Directs have bigger announcements than a mini of course.

but it's not that cut and dry imo.
I think whatever they want to announce for the coming months takes precedence.

For example
September 2017 Direct: Biggest game announcement: Port of Doom or Wolfenstein II. Pick whichever

Mini 2018: Announced Mario Aces.

The Mini had the much bigger announcement between the two. And even its ports have higher selling power than those shown in September. Donkey Kong TF, Hyrule, Dark Souls. (Mainly DK of course)

Again, it's mostly about the scheduling they want.

edit
going further, I don't think the Full April 2017 direct announced much of anything for Switch
Why not?
well because Switch just came out lol. So even though it was a "full" direct, the scheduling and timing is what dictated the content.
Fair enough - I suppose there weren't necessarily huge first-party game announcements in all the full directs of the Switch era.

The main thing missing from the mini though is the deep dives into new aspects of games. For example, in the Directs you mentioned, we got extended looks at new kingdoms and mechanics in Mario Odyssey, new game modes and features in ARMS and Splatoon, long looks at Xenoblade and Octopath Traveler, etc. The Direct mini on the other hand seemed just like a series of 2 minute basic trailers.

I don't it's good to do countdowns for things that don't exist....

yeah, I mentioned that in my first post on the subject.

the main difference between a mini and a full, is the deep dives.
games announced can go either way, feast or famine.
but the big dives are a constant, and the main differentiating factor.

Guys

Hyrule Warriors 2

This honestly isn't too farfetched, I just looked at Omega Force's upcoming output and it looks like Warriors Orochi 4 is the only announced game they have in the works, and that's releasing in Japan in just a few weeks.

I'm not sure how regularly they usually announce games but they always seem to have a lot in development at any one time, and they've probably had another division working on a Nintendo collab for a while

At this point it's safe to assume there will be a Direct, the only doubt is when it will drop and, most of all, what they'll show. Are they just focusing on the online services or they're gonna go the extra mile and announce something new?

Man it feels like Nintendo has to have something big for the paid subscription. Something big from the discounts and deals or Mario Kart 8 DLC. I'm still holding on to Matt implying something big would come.

Nintendo pulled a Suda51. They delayed the announcement of the Direct so they wouldn't take away from Spider-Man yesterday. Good guy Nintendo.

I'm watching this video on YouTube and they said Nintendo accidentally tweeted something about Mario Kart and Fortnite, but took it down. Did anyone see this?

Where's all my Metroid Prime Trilogy HD fans? I think it's real and it could be here or saved for the Game Awards with MP4.

I'd like a shadow drop of Warframe. Or a date at least. It's supposed to release in 2018 but since they didn't announce a solid date, a shadow drop like paladins and fortnite seems likely.

Yeah that's my bet. Shadow drop of Warframe, with gyro controls. I have to cancel my tinder dates for the upcoming weeks.

It is still quite around here.

The calm before the storm ?

The debut of mainline GTA on a Nintendo console ? The return of FF ? What about Persona ? New images of SMTV ? Resurgence of AA games and Nostalgia ?

We'll hopefully see soon.

The only thing I want is some JRPG sometime this winter (18/19). I'm hoping Xenoblade Chronicles X gets a port, if it does i bet it'll be early 2019 as to avoid stepping on the Torna Expansion. Plus a JRPG would be good to fill the time after the holiday.
