I remember being pretty excited about the game before even the official reveal at E3 when info about the title were leaked days prior, but the Jump Festa trailer elevated my hype to way higher levels than I could've ever anticipated. Went from a day one purchase to a Day -4 (Got it from a retail that broke the street date). Shared it at the time with some of my friends who hated fighting games and it got them super interested in the game, too.

I don't think that a fighting game trailer could ever generate any bigger hype, not even a sequel to DBFZ.

(Stfu if you quote my post and say Smash isn't a fighting game.)
Though I liked the Jump Festa DBFZ trailer too.

No. Mortal Kombat X Who's Next trailer. Over 18 million views on YouTube on a single video. Other reuploads also have 10+ million views

The DBZ trailer doesn't even come close. And if we're including non traditional fighters, then Smash must be up there too.

As much as I ended up hating SFV, its announcement "Rise Up" trailer was unbelievable. I still can't watch it without getting chills.

The focus on the community played directly on what makes fighting games special for me so I can't imagine much topping it. It felt like Capcom was making a new Street Fighter just for me.

I imagine the music choice in this trailer plays on a similar passion for DBZ fans, so I get it.

Yes, if you're a fan of the franchise (and if you watched a non-american dub). So for me, yeah, it is one of.

The SFV AE was one of the hypest for me...after two years of shadow silhouettes the intro released during the end of Capcom cup was one the best I've ever seen

Yes.

That's all I have to say.

EDIT: Correction, the recreation of the saiyan saga shown at Evo was hype, too.

Incoming 10pages of regurgitation by FGC fans who refuse to acknowledge Smash as a FG
Eh, it's fine, I'd beat most people who would whine about that sort of thing in either Smash or traditional fighting games..... so maybe they should put their energy from silly arguments towards actually getting good.

Also yeah the SFV AE trailer was pretty good, really helped a lot of people turn around on SFV (at least for a bit until they realized it still wasn't their cup of tea).

Yes.

That's all I have to say.

EDIT: Correction, the recreation of the saiyan saga shown at Evo was hype, too.

This was great to experience at EVO. Especially with everyone in the arena yelling "NOOOOOOOO" when Chiaotzu died, lol

Surprised at the lack of mention of Smash's absolute plethora of famous hype trailers...

its fine but hypest ever? Nah man. First that comes to mind is the first CG trailer for SF IV, that was dope.

Hell, the normal intro for 3rd Strike was really good too.

Hell yeah. Easily, for me. I remember exactly where I was when I heard that song for the first time. It took me back. I'm bad at the game, but I've never been more excited for a fighting game, maybe with the exception of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Eyes of Heaven or Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2.

I don't think we're talking about intros but reveal trailers though, but yeah I loved 3S's.
Ah, sure. I cant bring any from memory (getting lat on the west coast) but as far as hype trailers go some of the SF IV/V reveals as well as Smash stuff nearly broke the gaming forums at the time

There are way more "hype" trailers than this.

Honestly IMO DBFZ's trailers are kinda whatever if you're not already an invested DBZ fan, especially the character reveal ones with barely 10 seconds worth of game footage have been awful.

I don't think that a fighting game trailer could ever generate any bigger hype, not even a sequel to DBFZ.
This trailer generated so much hype it doesn't even have 500K hits.

Melee's reveal/intro was amazing not just for its direction but because Smash is an All Star cast of characters more so than any other game so you had all of these unexpected appearances.
But I guess at the time it wasn't really considered a fighting game by a lot of people, and still some to this day for whatever reason.

Without a doubt it's the one that broke the internet. From a game history point of view, this one always seemed impossible. Smash trailers thanks in large part to the IPs but also Sakurai's brillance, have always been the most hype. This one was particularly hard hitting... When you consider the game had already been out for a year, it absolutely brought out the crazy fans in everyone. Just go look at reaction videos to this, it's beyond reason.

It's a specific thing that requires a certain level of fandom for DBZ and then it becomes massively exciting, obviously. That's fair enough.

I agree with the Smash and SF5 AE posts in here, but one that'll always stick in my mind is the trailer for Super SF4 that revealed the SF3 characters (Makoto, Dudley, Ibuki). Capcom was doing this thing back then where they did 100% original music arrangements for the trailers, and that's what really makes it, I think. At the time, the excitement of seeing these characters again was also paired with hearing these snippets of their themes arranged. Again, though, it's a really specific, personal thing, since at the time this trailer came out I was absolutely a million percent invested in SF4 and so I rewatched the trailer time and time again dissecting how the new guys would play.

Does the "Everyone is Here!" count? But yeah that trailer is the next hypest thing for me regarding fighting games.

I legit don't get this, why this trailer over the others? Is it the anime scenes/specific characters they showed in this one, the song?

The combination of the two.
As a big fan of the series that trailer created somewhat of an Nostalgia overflow, and knowing that those were all scenes you could actually trigger in-game pushed me over the edge and made me pre-order the game.
