It's so much more than a hack n slash. Even not having the first, this is a good way to intro the series. And, well, there aren't any other games really except for some handheld stuff that was meh.
So much more how? :D I'm mostly curious as to how VR works and if that's a good way to play it or if I should play it as originally intended first.

It was a URL link instead of a media link like he had for the trailer section which is probably why we both didn't catch it (or assumed it re-directed to a wiki page)
For those playing on PC without VR. Try running the game in borderless with VSync on and use Rivatuner and set the FPS lock to 60. You get no frametime hiccups with that.

ZOE2 was actually my second favorite game in PS2 behind DMC3SE.

I think this was a passion project for a big wig at CyGames who wanted to do a full on remaster of this. Maybe it could lead to something bigger.

Obviously Kojima is off the table, but Shinkawa will be as well. And not just because he's KP/semi-freelancer, but he went through shit on TPP (albeit not as extreme as Koj).
The only unknown is Shuyo Murata, the director of ZoE2. I don't know if he's left Konami (and therefore with Kojima or not) or is still there.
As a heads up, we'll be working with Konami on a Twitter giveaway. A couple of PS4 codes, as well as a ZOE branded PS4 controller and some other goodies (I think they mentioned socks and a pin? No, I'm not joking). I won't share the tweet here when it goes live since I'm sure that's against the rules, but since this is a niche game I'm not expecting a ton of RT entries, so y'all can keep an eye out for that if you want a good chance to win. Should go live next week if not the end of this week; they have to ship us the physical stuff.
Okay I bought it on PS4. Excited to give it a go, but mostly just showing my support to remind Konami that people want remasters off them.
I liked the first ZOE quite a bit, minus the lame 1HP mission. But yeah, Second Runner is bigger and better by leaps and bounds (baddum-tss!) First game is skippable - lead character appears in SR but that's really about it. Going straight into SR is absolutely perfectly fine!
I forget, but Jehuty doesn't have the first game's colour as an unlockable in this game does it? I like both colours, but sometimes like the first game's more.

The store i usually use in Portugal has the disc version for €30.

Man, I was really excited to play this but the controller issues and lack of Japanese support at all are a huge bummer. I'm hoping that on the 6th (when the game is out in Japan) I'll be able to set the language to Japanese on steam since it does display as available... what a mess.
I'm still excited to try out VR mode, though. But if the full text+audio language support (which is one of the reasons why I purchased the game on steam to begin with) isn't there I'll have to wait until I can mod it in somehow. Still, I'm super happy this got a release since it is an amazing game overall.

There's flight and ranged combat rather than just slashing with an energy blade. The combat isn't just mash to win either, there are enemies that require use of sub weapons to get around their defenses etc. It's pretty cool for an older title and the gameplay for a mech game is really fast paced. Can't comment on VR, haven't got mine yet.
ZOE was the pentacle of Japanese developed games. I love the style, gameplay, and techno trance music. They just don't make games like this anymore. The closet that comes to ZOE is MGR and Vanquish. If they do make a true sequel to ZOE2 I hope PlatinumGames develops it.

To be frankly honest, I was recluctant at first of Platinum doing ZoE3. But that was when Kojima Productions was still a Konami-owned developer.
Now, they're the only shot of us getting a ZoE3 if someone was to develop. That or CyGames themselves. Because, as much shit as Konami deserves for not even observing the original dev team of the game, CyGames seems to have done a top notch job on this, at least going by the 40 minutes spent playing it on PC.
Could be in the best interests of both companies. Learning the tech and development of zoe2 could help CyGames become a stronger dev studio and Konami would have a chance to dig into their graveyard of unfinished projects and Frankenstein some sort of sequel / prequel out of it.
I have no idea how publishing studios decide on their future projects though, especially Japanese ones.
Do you know if this will be addressed at all? I bailed on the game as soon as I found these weren't working. Minor feature or no, seems kinda iffy.

Interested to see if we end up getting some kind of japanese voices mod. My friend makes a huge stink about the English voices and I'm inclined to agree.

I haven't bought a new PS4 game since MoHun World. This weekend, I am 100% buying this. To support the franchise, but also because it's goddam Zone of the Enders in goddam VR. I can't wait.
Is the opening cutscene/demo bugged for anyone else? I literally have to just sit and watch the 5 minute attract mode before the menu opens up before I'm able to even launch into the campaign itself, or edit any of the options. I think I'm going to refund until the issues get sorted out unless there's an easy fix. I've tried using both my keyboard and my gamepad, and both in VR and standard mode to no avail.
I loved the demo! I got the HD PS3 games but never touched them. Besides being 4K ready, (I don't have a VR headset), does this version add anything significant?
Aside from 4K visuals (& I think better framerate) & I think a new "pro" control scheme, no, this is almost the exact same game. Down to the trophy list and icons being the exact same as the PS3 release, even keeping the fact the A & S ranking trophies don't stack.
it's not working on my PS4 copy. As far as I know, this will not allow you to do a quick turn, and respond to conversations. Quite a big bug if you ask me

I fear that they are doing the same thing they did with Ground Zeroes; the Italian publisher, Halifax, set the price like if it was a full game (they later had to officialy lower it)
