Combat is completely different to both. Has she played and liked any turn based RPGs? If so, yes. If not, this may be a good place to start.
Yeah I'd go with 25% as said above.
Lol, this is a LONG game.Wow. I'm not much further than that, and I thought I was halfway through. Glad to know I'm nowhere near done.
I can't even use my real name! wtf man, uninstalling this shit. This game just insulted me.
Same here. The game is s...l....o....w.... so very slow. I've played for three hours and I've had maybe six battles, total. I fight each enemy once just to scout it out, but avoid everything else since everything dies in two hits, and there is no need for money. The rest of the time has been jumping on roofs and cutscenes. I haven't played Dragon Quest since Dragon Warrior III on the NES. With the retro feel, I guess I was expecting more of a "here is your starting gear, off you go" instead of "here is your OP starting gear, allow us to lead you around".

The name beats me. JP ver. is nowhere close to this.. 25% give or take.
DQXI is a typical slow-burn game in terms of plot. Many reviews mention this. To me it takes ~25 hours to really immerse myself in.
I'm kinda surprised many in this thread feel catchy from the beginning.
they give you that link? lolwuton rep 9 now
they like to throw out https://www.justpushstart.com/2018/09/dragon-quest-xi-guide-how-to-redeem-dlcs-in-game/ and tell me all the DLC is on disk that all I need to do is boot it up and go there and it will be there.
the moment I try to explain that in fact they are only in game if I redeem a code they transfer me to someone else >.>
I don't think amazon in general thinks they have to send out a code.
I've gotten that link 4 times now in fact.
did they even the article. the last section about how to get dlc code lolI've gotten that link 4 times now in fact.
as proof that the DLC is on the game disk :P
this current rep is being a bit more helpful and has at least explained that the things they would normally see for a game with preorder DLC are completely missing from DQ11 so they are looking into that.
They seem to be under the assumption that it really is on the disk when obviously it isn't >.<:
Are you bugged because there are too few battles but yet you have been avoiding everything? I don't follow. You can play the game thrifty by forging gear from junk you find but you aren't really overflowing with cash from normal play either.Same here. The game is s...l....o....w.... so very slow. Is this game like the DS remakes where if all your active party members die thedie they get automatically replaced with the ones left?
I can't decide which of the characters wanna use, I like Erik, Jade, Veronica and Sylvando + the hero, so that's one too many, and of course I need a healer, so Serena has to be in there somewhere too.
If they have that mechanism, it makes it much easier, I could just rotate party members, and I wouldn't feel like I am wasting resources.
I really hope this game improves for the better, because as it stands now, if the rest of the game is like this, it's gonna end up being one of my least favorite games in the series.
Just started, game is charming as hell but I can't stand the music. When I got to the first town I just put the in-game music volume slider to "0", alt-tabbed out and put this on loop:

I've pointed that part out to 5 reps now lol.did they even the article. the last section about how to get dlc code lol
I haven't seen anyone else say this, but I agree. It is grating on my ears. It is certainly the quality level of MIDI files I used to download in 1995 so I could listen to Cranberries and Metallica in my Doom maps. It's bad. Real bad.
I suspect it sounds even worse due to the voice acting. The music may sound more acceptable when it's simply background music as you quietly read text boxes. Having so many voiced lines with this 1990 QuickTime era MIDI in the background is jarring.
Yes. It's far worse than anything I've heard on SNES. It reminds me of listening to MIDI with a generic software soundfont instead of wavetable synthesis.
I really enjoyed the music in Builders. I also loved how we could enable the NES music. The music here in XI is worse, both in composition and sound quality.

SE going to redirect you back to amazon where you got it.I've pointed that part out to 5 reps now lol.
Anyways. I think my journey is ending with "I see there were codes sent out in the UK but nothing about the US, have you tried contacting square enix"
and me going "I guess I can. I haven't because I've never had a case where if I preorder a game with preorder DLC that the company hasn't sent it out before."
>.<;
I know right? Why did the rest of the industry stop making JRPGs like this. Imagine if they still made FF in this style. It just works.Played about 2 hours. Game is great so far and exactly what i want from a jrpg. How cozy is cobblesyone ?!? Part of me didn't want to leave
I know lol. I will admit defeat at this point and accept I won't get a code.
Whats the rule to make sparkly spot respawn ? It's random or there's some rule to it ?
Is there a way to set the language on ps4 for this game? In the German version the text is in German AND they chnaged the names of everyone. But in the spoken language is English and everyone has a different name than the German texts.

wow. Maybe Rabin is preserved because of the main character Rab.
Probably string searches on a contains() and/or a startsWith(), so you wouldn't be able to name your character "Erika" or "Jaded" or "Rabin" or "Sylvandoo"
Dang, just got a notification that my local Best Buy doesn't have this to fulfill my preorder. :( Hopefully one a little ways out does...
SNES music sounds better. I'd love if this was the sound quality we were getting:
I've turned the volume down, which I never do in RPGs. The strings in particular are really grating.
Ffs, the game literally just came out. Maybe don't randomly post stuff about the end game? I mean, I get that this is probably minor stuff but come on...
Woo, ready to do this thing. One question about rare spawns. Do they show on the overworld or are they only generated in battle?

It is real-time based, and the respawning time differs from one to another. You also have to change the area/map to make sure it refreshes.
e.g. A very rare ore (needed for ultimate equipments) in late game, which has only two spawn spots, takes about 20mins to respawn.
