ShopTo and Amazon are both selling it, for a bit of a premium compared to GAME, but the good news that it's at least in stock there.

The bad news that I've just discovered is that, if you value how these Special Edition boxes that Sony puts out for their PS4 exclusives look, then it appears that whoever is in charge of the design has absolutely destroyed any enthusiasm I once had for how this thing looks.
This is how they advertised it (and are still advertising it in the UK):
The final packaging based on some updated listing on other European retailers:
I mean, just how fucking disgusting does that look? They replaced the gorgeous deep red gradient background for a garish tomato red flat colour. They've replaced the cool embossed looking spider and made it, again, a boring flat white. They've reduced the size of the spider logo to accommodate the name of the game (which doesn't need to be there), and they've changed the logo on the spine to be less pronounced for some silly reason. It all looks so cheap and nasty for a premium special edition product, and WILL look truly bad on my shelf next to the rest of the good looking PS4 exclusive Special Edition boxes.
Why do these gross designs get signed off when the original art was so, so much more tasteful? Ugh.
European Special edition.is there any way to get the steelbook separately from the CE (other than ebay)? considering cancelling the CE but also want the steelbook...
Not yet.
Is this a big spoiler? I'm not up to date on Spider-man lore stuff. Is it a big surprise?
EDIT: to clarify, I saw the image. I just wondered if it's a big surprise to fans.
From what I've read, no. Kind of confusing why it was hidden at all, honestly. Unless there's some aspect of the statue we cannot see, or might understand better in context of the story.

Yeah. This is what I was thinking too. From my understanding,
It's because of the Doc Ock tentacles, they wanted to keep him hidden until release for people to find out he's in the game.

They're definitely super compressed. Those are also terrible photos of the statue that don't really show off how nice it is
The last few posts on the page are all talking about it, etc :/
Just saw it thanks. The last few posts on the page are all talking about it, etc :/
Managed to switch my Collector's Edition preorder from Best Buy to in store pick up on Friday. I've never done with this with a game pre-order from there. When exactly will I start seeing movement on the order? They charge when I pick it up, correct?
Cool.I'm pretty sure they charge when the order is being prepared. This way, you're really just giving proof of your order and identity when you pick it up. I always go to Best Buy on my own time for stuff like that. If it isn't ready by the time I get there, I just ask them and they'll generally go pick the item while you're there. If things are too busy, you'd just have to wait anyway.
Looks like my in-store order changed from Pre-Ordered to Preparing sometime earlier this morning.
A good bit of conversation of order status and such has been happening in this thread today:Looks like my in-store order changed from Pre-Ordered to Preparing sometime earlier this morning.
The download code is still stuck on Pre-Ordered, but I assume that's just so it doesn't get emailed out early.
wasn't this in trailers? From my understanding,

I'm well aware of the fine print. Still, I'm yet to hear a convincing reason why they would not inform people weeks in advance if there is a finalised design before it goes into factory production. I asked jstevenson about this, and he said he had no idea what the final packaging would look like until they received it in their office, but would post an update if so. I never received an update about this. I find it extremely hard to believe that no-one at PlayStation or Insomniac would receive updated pack shots of the final design to share with consumers.*Artwork not final and subject to change.
Pay attention to those words as every picture of the product for preorder has them on it. It's up to you to take a risk when preordering and as such not false advertising when they tell you the final product may look different. You can always return the SE and buy the normal version as you're obviously unhappy with your purchase.
Glad I'm not the only one who feels a bit screwed over by this. Oh well, not much else to do but sell it on once I've completed the game.Having same problem. Got the SE and it looks terrible on my shelf - it's wider than the shelf so sticks out, which nothing else does. The gradient I can get over but the box and steelbook are very very disappointing
Well, the mini artbook front cover is not the issue. What I've found out is that its SIZE is the issue.I personally loved the Special Edition. Especially the mini art book which is miles better than just the plain white with title that we got for God of war LE. Steelbook could be a bit better though.
