25-35 hours to complete everything sounds perfect. Sounds like Horizon ZD in that it doesn't overstay it's welcome.
Damn It's close. I said 84.looks like I lose. Good reviews. A little higher than what I expected. I was very confident it would be under 90 though. Insomniac is good, but they haven't gotten a score over 90 in 12+ years
Spider-man will probably disappoint as well. I'm thinking a metacritic score somewhere in the mid 70s. It'll be fine, but nothing mind blowing.
You and the team deserve all the credit. Insomniac has always been great, and this is just another indication of that.
Of course Arkham Asylum wouldn't score the same today, it's a 9 year old game. And I didn't say I wanted Spider-Man to follow whatever BOTW did. I'm saying after BoTW shook up the formula it's hard for me to go back to the last-gen model of open world games
Tch, BotW may have shown another way to go about the "plain open world" game but it hardly stands as a prime example of how to create a game world with substance. I felt the opposite of substance the more I found in that game.
I think a reviewer said you can fast travel using the subway system but he refused to use it. I wonder how much time that cuts from the main game if you are not swinging everywhere. But that sort of defeats one of the joys of the game.
i know i saw his post. but he mentioned cow who's a member is all i'm saying
Waypoint review. I can't stop laughing every time I read.
Lol double loss!
Didn't gow just now get to 9m? 10m is probably a ways off for Spiderman. Unless they do a 20 dollar sale like they did with horizon around black Friday.
Did the complete opposite for me.Jim Sterling's review kind of took a little bit of the wind out of my sails on this one.
"This feels like the Mr. Negative show."
Yikes.
Waypoint
The small moments stick with me, though. Mary Jane doesn't put up with Peter's shit, and instead of crawling back because that's what Spider-Man's girlfriend is supposed to do, she does her own thing—and succeeds. At one point, Peter outright calls someone a facist for being, well, a fascist. J. Jonah Jameson now hosts an Alex Jones-like radio show to spout his conspiracy theories about Spider-Man, and like Jones himself, his fear-mongering is occasionally correct- ish just enough for him to be dangerous. It's a character played for laughs, but one with some notably disturbing real-life overtones. It's all refreshingly pointed, especially in a game that, despite being set in New York, seems to avoid any reference to the pseudo-fascist currently in the White House
I get you Americans are obsessed with trump. But mentioning him in a Spiderman review/game makes no sense.
Waypoint are commenting about content that is in the game...So fucking tired of this bullshit. This is a spiderman game. Polygon should get their shit together. If they want to talk about trump and other idiots then they should stop reviewing games and go get a job at CNN.
I'm with you. I'm glad to see it's an open-world game that's not 50+ hours of bloat...I already play enough of those, haha. 20 to beat with maybe another 10 hours to complete sounds about perfect to me.I don't get the criticisms of length. Not everyone can sit and sink 200 hours into a Witcher style game. It's Spiderman, there's only so much original content you can fit in there without it just becoming a super repetitive grinding mess. 15-20 hrs is good for me. Same with people who criticised TLOU when it first came out. My playtime ended up at 22 hours. I took my time (probably died a lot) and soaked it up and it felt suitably epic without outlasting it's welcome. Others rushed through in 10 hours or so and complained. Meh. Can't keep everyone happy I suppose.
Want to see Metacritic go back up to 88, if only for that 88/88 symmetry with OpenCritic.
How peculiar!I find it a bit strange how people are posting that they're happy with the fact that it's the "best Spider-Man game", as if that's a high bar to clear. They seem relieved! Like, has there ever even been a Spider-Man game that's better than mediocre? Treyarch's Spider-Man 2 from 2004 appears to be the only one that's come close and even that wasn't a particularly good game outside of its web-slinging.
It makes complete sense if you read the review.I get you Americans are obsessed with trump. But mentioning him in a Spiderman review/game makes no sense.
This. You and the team deserve all the credit. Insomniac has always been great, and this is just another indication of that.

Average playtester takes around 20 hours or so with the "average" amount It side content on Amazing difficulty (normal)
I'll be disappointed if not.
I got one right for once.AndyVirus said:Realistically I can't see this falling outside of 83-91. Down the middle is 87, which sounds about right: between Ratchet and Horizon.
Some of you people would include this shit even in Nintendogs. SmhA Marvel character who has had several stories rooted in politics, who lives in New York, whose recent run was one of the most polarizing among the "diversity in comics" crew........... but you can't mention politics?
This is like saying "why would you talk about politics in a review of Metal Gear?!"
That was last year. I changed it to 84 around e3 I think. After positive impressions. Search my post history
