I definitely see this hitting 90 now. Netherlands & Brazilian reviewers loved it.

Looks like 85-88 team won. Edge score will decide which one will end up with higher meta this month this or DQ11.

Man gamekult are harsh with their reviews.

They just make use of most of the 0-10 scale unlike most other publications out there who rate everything from dross to masterpieces on a 6-10 scale.

7 is not a bad score

Good we need more of this in the industry. Enough of giving everything a 75 average or higher. That's not representative of the actual quality of most games in this industry.
Yeah I would not call them harsh, in their words a 6/10 for example is still a good but flawed game. A 7/10 to their eyes is a pretty good game but lacks something to be excellent. From 8/10 you can consider it's a masterpiece or a future classic. A 10 would be the god of video games, which is why they never gave any game a 10.

The encouraging takeaway of Spider-Man's weaknesses is that Insomniac got the hardest stuff right, imo, and the rest is easily fixable in a sequel.

Seems the harshest reviewers are big fans of GTA. Didn't expect that the open world would get compared directly to GTA V. Also seeing lots of criticism that the combat is similar to the Batman games, but that's one of my biggest draws.

Haha, first post in the review prediction thread I said 88 on the dot.

Will most likely change, but still.

88 is damn damn good.

I dunno. Almost every game I play is better than a 75. Games have been very high quality lately.

That just means you need to be more critical.

and I'm not referring to spiderman by the way. I haven't played it so I can't say one way or the other. It was a general statement of the entire gaming scene and how overly kind everyone is with scoring.

Good reviews. About what I expected with Insomniac's track record and how reviewers are a little harsher now then 15 years ago.

I'm down for the ACG, SkillUp and EZA reviews. They're definitely my go to's for game impressions. I don't put too much weight in aggregate. That said, this is looking likely to hit a nice late 80's range for Insomniac. Congrats to the devs :). Certainly looks like a crazy amount of hard work has gone into this, and for the most part has paid off splendidly.

I gave it a 3.5 out of 5 for Slant Magazine:

I really, REALLY like a lot of the mechanics but I felt the open world was pretty static, which feels at odds with the character and some of the better scripted moments in the game. Also wasn't into some of the directions the story takes.

The sidequests aren't particularly great but I do think the mechanics (barring stealth) hold up well enough to keep them enjoyable, for what it's worth.

I completely appreciate your negatives, but you have to appreciate that the kind of bustling life you speak of that you want in an open world game is simply an unprecedented ask that pretty much no studio in the world bar maybe one or two, actually have tbe manpower and budget for with this type of game.

The only games that really have that level of focus on those things, are games where those things are a core focus, eg open world urban crime or life sim games (GTA, Yakuza, Persona etc), but since Spider-Man's focus isn't at a ground level nor replicating what is essentially a life or crime sim, it doesn't really make sense to have so many resources focused on that sort of thing. It would only detract from the actual super hero elements and gameplay.

Wow, I practically nailed the Metacritic! I said it would be 87 or 88, and it looks like it will end up at either of those numbers.

Amazing scores, still.

Awesome scores, although easy allies is all that I needed.

Now to knock down Best buy's doors on the 7th
