Ummm it's because they want people to read the review and not just look at a number. I would say it takes more balls to not have a score, Meta might drop you. What's up with so many outlets refusing to score games nowadays? Eurogamer, kotaku and now polygon? like wtf?
have some balls and learn to take some criticism when you are criticizing someone else's hard work.
I would add "PS4 console exclusives" if you do. A few of those games are also on PC.
Amazing to know.
It's not about "balls" (lmao) it's about scores being a dumb and reductive way to convey a review that boils it down to a single number instead of the points contained in the review. I know reading is hard for some though, but oh well.
Everyone not including you lol. Told you so ;p
Just use the British system mate.
9/10 is the equivalent to an A+. Get that in University and you'll be literally flying into a top-tier job.
I know, felt like a 10 to me personally.Wait, GoW has a 94 metacritic rating? That does not align with my opinion of that game at all lol.
The real review I'm waiting on is how much of a jet engine it makes a PS4 Pro sound.

Because they're the smart ones. Scores are terrible, reductionist and provoke terrible "analysis". The hard on this site has for meta critic numbers is one of the worst things about it.

First-class honours degree-haver chiming in. I'm unemployed three months since graduating.
Nope. The grading system differs wildly between the US and European countries. So basically:
-Euros score it lower because spiderman is not a big deal over here
-Americans score it higher because marvel superheroes is a big deal
Best game of the year for me. Don't see how on Earth it isn't at least a 90 MC.

Without a taunt button you can't convince me of that. To be Spider-Man I need to be able to talk shit on demand. It's like Batman without batarangs.
But there's no real sense that an everyday life exists somewhere down in the streets to be engaged with in any capacity beyond sectioned-off side missions and pop-ups that mark crimes like muggings. Interactions with civilians are limited to high-fives and listening to descriptions of suspicious activity that lead nowhere...Rather than a space to inhabit, Spider-Man's New York and the people in it are often little more than a backdrop for predominantly combat-driven scenarios and traveling between map icons.
