What's up with so many outlets refusing to score games nowadays? Eurogamer, kotaku and now polygon? like wtf?

have some balls and learn to take some criticism when you are criticizing someone else's hard work.
Ummm it's because they want people to read the review and not just look at a number. I would say it takes more balls to not have a score, Meta might drop you.

It's not about "balls" (lmao) it's about scores being a dumb and reductive way to convey a review that boils it down to a single number instead of the points contained in the review. I know reading is hard for some though, but oh well.

Why you gotta be so condescending for literally no reason?

Have any of the reviews mentioned how long the game is? I'm very interested but I don't have time to read all the reviews.

We were right. It's going to land somewhere between 86-89. Congrats to Insomniac and Sony.

Looking good! My only concern is the bad side quests, why don't more devs make it a primary focus to make them on par with the main quests quality wise.

Reviews as expected - an open world game with open world trappings and a great story. I suspect Tomb Raider will be scoring around the same.

Traversal doesn't seem quite as good as Sunset

Meristation gave it an 8.7/10. They complain about it being repetitive (which game isn't?) and limited interactivity with the city. They think it just fell short of becoming just excellent, but a next game could become the franchise's Arkham Asylum to City leap in terms of quality.

I don't wanna be harsh on OpenCritic since it seems like they're lacking in funding but I really wish they were more reliable on the tech front.

I gave it a 3.5 out of 5 for Slant Magazine:

But there's no real sense that an everyday life exists somewhere down in the streets to be engaged with in any capacity beyond sectioned-off side missions and pop-ups that mark crimes like muggings. Interactions with civilians are limited to high-fives and listening to descriptions of suspicious activity that lead nowhere...Rather than a space to inhabit, Spider-Man's New York and the people in it are often little more than a backdrop for predominantly combat-driven scenarios and traveling between map icons.

I really, REALLY like a lot of the mechanics but I felt the open world was pretty static, which feels at odds with the character and some of the better scripted moments in the game. Also wasn't into some of the directions the story takes.

The sidequests aren't particularly great but I do think the mechanics (barring stealth) hold up well enough to keep them enjoyable, for what it's worth.

88-93 was the interval I expected, of course I knew 93 would the the hardest score to achieve as well, so 88 is great and I'm definitely looking forward to this game! Would be great if it moved up to 90.

I've always found the swinging and general traversal in Spider-Man games incredibly fun and I can have a good time even in the mediocre games. So considering this seems to be a good-great one, I'm excited.
