I am not sure what is weirder. The fact that a principal did a pole dance in front of a 5 yo audience, or the fact that people (who cleary did not watch the video) are defending it, explaing how pole dancing is also a sport.

To be fair, pole dancing can be done in a non-erotic context

...the pole dancing in that video however...is not that.

The people defending pole dancing as a skillful art and not necessarily sexual, have obviously not spent 5 seconds watching the video of a provocatively dressed performer making provocative gestures to a Britney Spears (?) cover song with dozens of 5-year-old s seated around.

Pole dancing is just fine as an activity if that's your jam. Good work out, takes skill, and maybe its how you tap into a part of your personality that you enjoy tapping into. That's cool, I support you. But that's not what this is.

If I can liken it to something else inappropriate it would be like having a hardcore wrestling match in front of a bunch of 5 year olds on their first day of school. Sure, hardcore wrestling can still be an appropriate form of wrestling, it takes skill and hard work to be a good wrestler, and pro wrestling is as much a performance art as everything else. But it not only makes no sense from an educational perspective, it simply isn't right to expose children to something like that.

Don't bother, they won't care, they're fixated that pole dancing=sexual erotica and it doesn't matter how many times you say "yes she was in the wrong, but that doesn't mean pole dancing is bad" it won't get trough them.

People were judging what's in the video. She takes clothes off and throws them into the crowd of kids. The number of people saying all pole dancing is erotic is very few if not nonexistent in this thread.

Yeah, pole dancing isn't inherently erotic, it can be a regular dance or sport performed by a person of any gender. I don't know what the -

I get that the focus here is on the pole dancing, but what's the deal with having ten days of military activities and displaying heavy weaponry in kindergarden? This is seriously strange.

Pole dancing in itself is just another type of performance, I don't see why people should immediately paint it as sexual or inappropriate. It's just a form of dance.

Pole dancing in and of itself is not sexual.

But what's going on in that video is absolutely a routine you only see at certain "exclusive" clubs.

What the actual fuck? This reminded me about an incident regarding a school teacher doing a lap-dance for someone's birthday.

At least the principal was fired.

Strange. The dude also mentions days of military activities and a machine gun on display lol! Sounds like traditional communism. I cannot for the life of understand why they thought it would be a good idea to have a pole dancer.

I could be mistaken, but I think there has been a push towards more traditional authoritarian / communist practices under Xi. I believe Tisnghua University - one of China's most prominent - now has compulsory military service of some sort.

Because it's pretty erotic and not exactly appropriate for a school setting..i do agree that it's one hell of a performance though. Like major props to the people can perform all that stuff.

Idk how this flew too. Like wtf was going on at that school? That alone made me think it was in the US. Took me a minute to realize it wasn't.

You know what kind of kickstart a bunch of 5 year olds need in the world? An intro to pole dancing!

Im surprised any one cared really. China and America are very different

With that said, kids definitely do it. A frirnd of mine teaches dance and pole and she posts kids doing it on her feed

Pole dancing isn't inherently erotic, true, but come on, look at what was involved in the routine. That was definitely sexual. It may not have even been intended to entice, but, like, sheesh.... Very inappropriate. Can't fault the school for firing her.

Is it wrong I'm more offput by the "military displays" though?
