Glad to see the ending was well received, and we got some Bubbline. I'll make sure to check it out later.

I caught most of all the references and callback to everything, character cameos and whatnot, but they all feel like such distant memories. There's such a bittersweetness to this nostalgia. I relate a little too much to Beth and Shermy, in that it feels like most of this show is ancient history.

Which means it's time to watch the whole thing again

I did not like that finale very much. Finn and Jake aint do shit and that really fucking sucks. They did my boys dirty. Th ending was nice though and made me feel, hard.

What a beautiful ending to an outstanding show. I was really hoping they'd find a place for the closing credits song somehow but that was even better than I hoped.

So no Finn & Huntress Wizard?
I mean it could certainly still happen. The ending was completely open to pretty much any possibility which I loved.

Been keeping up with the series on and off. It was a fine ending, though it still kinda left me underwhelmed. Was hoping Finn and Jake would've done a bit more. I do like the "They lived their lives" bit.

It's funny how into this show I used to be and now I find myself not really caring all that much to see how it ends. Those first seasons are still some of my favorite ever but I guess the show simply outstayed its welcome for me at some point.

I'm a bit behind with Adventure Time, but I had to skim the spoilers with such an iconic show coming to an end -

Finished the finale and I'm so fucking happy.
Bubbline is canon!

Yessssssss! Between AT and Steven Universe, kudos to Cartoon Network for stepping up with the LGBT+ rep on-screen this year.

I liked that finale. It was nice in the way it tied up a bunch of story threads while also leaving the state of the world open. :)

I liked the ending, obviously i missed build up to the war, but i was surprised of how much stuff i understood from when i stopped watching, and that final sequence was heart warming, very cozy and nice ending.

Kinda weird Beth wouldn't know what obviously is her family's history tho.

This was a lot better than Legend of Korra. Marcy and Bonnie had seasons of build up and they actually embraced and kissed. An explicit confession of love would have been nice but the actions spoke loud.
This is better than Korra, because at least this had a kiss. The buildup I thought was way too much in subtext and external media, and not in the actual show though.

Between Varmints, Stakes, Broke His Crown, and Seventeen, off the top of my head, it was more than subtextual. The build up could have been better, admittedly.

Is it me or did Finn and Jake kind feel unimportant in the grand scheme of things?
eh, i didnt really get this vibe at all. theres a lot of characters that had to be juggled, but the entire war set up was completely diverted thanks to finn and jake's use of the nightmare juice and later jake inspires BMO to sing, which ends up more or less defeating golb.

Pretty open ended finale.

Although with some changes like humans back at Ooo, Simon and Ice King separated. Looks like Finn lived out a pretty normal life. Also Sweet Pea is HUGE!

I didn't expect to see the remnants of humanity from the Islands mini series to appear in the finale.

Wasn't a fan. I feel like the show could have had a much more impactful emotional climax but they just kinda threw in a couple villains toward the end and quickly resolved all the stray plotlines in the last 10 minutes. Most of them with that final song. I feel like the shows greatest weakness was that it didnt have a coherent overarching plot, and that made everything lack that suspenseful punch that all good stories have at the end.

I thought it was fine I guess but it was so lackluster for me because I didn't know what's been going on the past few seasons. What you said about the plot though is basically how I felt a few years ago when I dropped the show. Like they would start building up something that seemed pretty serious and then just kinda brushed it off whenever they decided to get to it like it wasn't anything special

I can see that, but the show focuses so much on them in general they needed to resolve things for the other characters.
It's amusing to think that Finn doesn't have an established love interest in the end, meanwhile Bubbline shippers got what we wanted. I imagine he probably ends up pursuing Huntress Wizard.

I feel that the finale was definitely lackluster from what everyone says but I did like all the closure that happened.

I did like how everyone was singing at the end minus the three. Also I feel bad for Betty at this point...

It's a thousand years in the future.

Also apparently the crew was going to incorporate The Lich into the finale but CN wouldn't give the crew a real final season.

I can understand people finding the ending to be lackluster in some regards. I think they did the best they could under the circumstances. The team presumably only new they had so many episodes left in mid to late 2016, which for an animated project is kind of short notice. On one hand, they could have used their time more efficiently but Cartoon Network put them in a bad spot. They clearly had other things planned but had to drop stuff to get the ending we did. Wish it had been feature film length. When in doubt, fuck Cartoon Network.

It pisses me off that they apparently aren't going to release the rest of the series on Blu-ray when there's literally only two releases left (Season 7 w/Stakes and then the last which is 8-10 and Islands). I bought 1-6 on Blu-ray so CN can kiss my ass.

I've followed this show since season 3 where I was at home with illness one day during a marathon and stumbled upon Adventure Time while doped up on a prescription for whatever infection I had...

That or Adventure Time just made me think I was drug addled at the time...

I'm sad to see this show go... I don't know what's up with Cartoon Network killing it ... But it's like someone taking a good friend away ...

It was as good an ending as I could have hoped for I guess, but I feel the show was killed early. There was a lot there to work with ...

I was pretty happy with this overall. The gum war obviously felt a bit rushed in due to scheduling constraints, but everything else addressed themes and characters they've been building up for years by now - Simon/Betty, the grass sword and Golb were all properly concluded.
Highlights:
Bubbline not only getting their big moment but being a proper couple and hanging out together in the epilogue. We've come a long way from the Korra finale.
Bubblegum' split-second flashback to Shoko when Finn is trying to convince her.
The way the show deconstructs a big battle scene into a trippy dream sequence/ epiphany then subverts that is basically AT in a nutshell.

Jesus it's been a run. Stopped watching after Flame Princess was introduced and that part where he goes to the space cube thing after the World is destroyed or whatever. Should go back and watch the rest.

It's a thousand years in the future.

I know, but i think if anybody's ancestors had participated in something so historically important they would pass that knowledge down, lol.

Regular Show had a much better ending

In many ways it kinda went the opposite direction than this, AT was a much more "fighty" show, and while RS had fights and weird stuff it wasn't usually the main thing, so RS ending with an epic fist fight while AT ending with STOPPING an epic fight is in hindsight a very funny thing.

Such a great ending. Also Bubbline is great but how is no one talking about the even bigger ship:

Lumpy Space Princess and Lemon Grab
