Holy fuck that was difficult, I was very close to losing my mind on the very last boss fight, but I finally did it. I had played newer Halos on legendary before so I didn't think it was gonna be easy but Halo 2 takes it to a whole new level. Care to share any memories? This is definitely the hardest Halo campaign on legendary right? Also 343 did a great job with the remaster, the game looks amazing.

Jackals can eat the largest bag of dicks on the planet.

But overall a great, if a little short, campaign.

Managed it some years back in the PC release, it's tricky but I actually think I struggled more with Halo 3's campaign?

Halo CE and 3 may be a bit harder due to the Flood levels, but well done, 2 is a great game, now go Finish the Fight!

I finished 4 and Reach solo Legendary and thought I was hot shit. So went back to 2 in the MCC and could barely get passed the first level.

You're better man than me OP. Did all the other ones, but just went 'fuck it' with H2's campaign at around the midpoint I think.

My friend and I damn near went insane trying to beat CE, the only one we've played, on Legendary in co-op. Congrats, OP.

Finishing Halo: CE/2/3 on legendary was some of the most fun gaming I experienced as a kid. Halo 2 was definitely the most difficult, in my opinion.

Congrats on the accomplishment!

I feel like Halo 2's is the easiest. I think it's the only one I've beaten on Legendary in MCC. I had beaten 1, 2 and 3 on their original releases, tho.

Congrats, regardless, because it still ain't easy.

I have fond memories of playing Legendary co-op with my best friend in Halo CE, 2, and 3.

But Halo CE and 3 were way easier than Halo 2. Partially because Halo 2 "fixed" the easy aspect of co-op by making any death respawn both players at the last checkpoint, and partially because Halo 2 had much more narrow and linear level design. We had to memorize all the Jackal Sniper locations and it just got tedious at some points chipping away at the massive health pools of Elite Ultras. Still worth it for the rush.

Yeah, Halo 2's legendary difficulty is annoying to say the least. I did it back when it came out, but it wasn't that fun since you have to take it slow and sneak around, otherwise be prepared to be one shotted.

Definitely the hardest of the Halo games to beat on Legendary solo, followed by CE. Everything post-Halo 3 is pretty easy in terms of Legendary, with only ODST really coming close to the original two in terms of difficulty.

CE/5 are the only ones I haven't completed on Legendary.

CE was a lot harder, I found. 5 was just shit.

All Halo games on Legendary put up a damn good fight.

Of all of them, I found Halo 2 to be the most solid Legendary experience, with CE being a little on the annoying side and Halo 3 just a little on the easy side. I think the hardest part of Halo 2's Legendary campaign for me was High Charity. Every single room puts up a fucking fight.

As for the other Halo games, I remember ODST's and Reach's being quite good (Reach's last level was something though), Halo 4's to be rather annoying due to the terrible Promethean enemies (the last level is dreadful with all of those bullet sponge knights), and I find Halo 5's to be garbage along with the campaign in general.

Fuck legendary in Halo

Heroic is where its at, I love when a difficulty tells you "this is the way developers intended you to play it"

I think Gravemind is a little harder just because of how long it is, High Charity being one of the shorter levels means I usually have an easier time with it.

I remember beating it along time ago. I don't know how I did it other than taking the banshee to the final boss

Oh yeah, it might have been that level that was the hardest for me. I confuse them both since they're both on High Charity. Either way, those two combined were the hardest stretches of the game for me.

Halo Reach Legendary Solo will always piss me the fuck off. Those elites are OP af....didnt help that the game didnt give me the achievement and for some dumb fucking reason reset my campaign progress. I have never picked up Reach since then lmao

I've beaten CE, 3, ODST, Reach, 4, and 5 on Legendary solo. Never done it on 2. That's on my agenda now that MCC has gotten the big update. I beaten every level up to Delta Halo. That one is not too difficult, I just haven't done it yet.

Speedrunning strategies are your friend. There's nothing quite like sauntering through Assault on the Control Room with nary an enemy in sight.

2 is absolutely the hardest one. Only one I haven't been able to beat solo legendary.

I have no idea how people can do those LASO playthroughs, the level of skill and patience required has to be immense.

My only experience with halo was reach on legendary, i had maniac grim on my face the whole game through, something only Let It Die managed to do again.

The whole "hopeless" aspect of the campaign was enhanced by the difficulty.

You want to know if we're losing?

I had the patience to do Reach on legendary solo
I was playing thru CE on legendary solo tho with MCC, or trying to.
Got stuck on the ship on truth and reconciliation.
Lmfao, sapped all my motivation getting dropped by those invis elites.
I forgot if i ever made it past that part or if i lost the check point at some point

Halo 2 Legendary was definitely a taxing experience; Master Chief's first couple of levels are insane due to the sheer numbers of enemies sometimes, or those goddamn Jackals (I still can hear the sound of that laser rifle in my deepest memories). Arbiter's levels can be cheesed for the most part (hell, you're better off running through Flood levels rather than straight up fighting).

I tried Halo 3 on Legendary and straight up gave up when I reached Cortana. That level can eat a bag of dicks.

Edit: PTSD WARNING

When it first came out I played it on legendary solo and at the time I kind of regretted playing it like that as its incredibly frustrating lol those dam jackals with the sniper riffles....

I've only ever done it once as a kid and I never wanted to go through it again, and i've beaten most of the Halo games on Legendary.

Halo 2 was definitely the hardest for me to solo. Think I ended up using a lot of tricks speedrunners use.

Halo CE is tough as blls on legendary, too. I felt like Halo 3 and onward were a lot more manageable.

Halo 2 was definitely the hardest and I still have yet to finish it. I always run out of ammo in the worst spots and the enemies keep coming. Compared to 2, the others are relatively easier, even 1. 3 and 4 are a breeze.

I got stuck on Delta Halo at the gondolas part for a good 45 minutes. I had no marines during it and I didn't want to restart the level. It was by far the most frustrating part.

Gravemind was also a pain.

I just cheesed Tartarus at the end with a Banshee.

A good video about it, lol.

Ugh, I never wanted to think of H2 Jackals again. Those Snipes were just the worst. Can't even think of peeking out without getting your head popped.

I actually found the Tartarus fight to be one of the easiest parts of the game. All you gotta do is keep moving and run away and take pot shots at him whenever his shield's down.

For me, the very first level was the hardest. The Cairo Space Station. Holy shit is it hard. You don't have access to nearly as much ammo or guns as in later levels and it's just brutal. I had to get real creative with grenades to get past some of the encounters. The room with all the Elites hiding behind the cover in the middle was the worst. They'd just eat up your ammo, then hide and regenerate.

Did all the games solo legendary many years ago myself right around Halo 4 launch.

Halo 2 stage 1 I found might have been the most difficult. Other moments were close, but the max armored elites that pour into the hangar...even with perfect base tosses into the pod bay doors were often not enough. As surprised how smoothly most of the game felt after aside from a few other speed bumps, but that level 1...

The bit were you spawn in High Charity with Brutes and a needler. Needler that bastard, grab plasma rifle, kill grunt, get ammo, get up on platform in about 5 seconds then the remaining brute rages biding your time picking off the remains enemies, give us a checkpoint!

Also, who doesn't jump on the roofs in Outskirts to get the jump on Jackals? One of the few times were level design in Halo 2 actually went somewhere and it wasn't far at all.

Best bit, take out a few jackal snipers and if it doesn't happen to be the jackal you didn't see that kills you then the camouflaged Elite surprise will get you as you advance forward thinking it's safe. Hello checkpoint.

Halo 2 is the only Halo I've haven't beaten on Legendary. The amount of damage the enemies do is seriously unfair - if you get in their line of sight, you'll probably be dead in a couple seconds. I never got past the Cairo Station escape pod launching room. Had to downgrade to Heroic. Even then, the Jackal snipers were probably the worst design decision in the entire series.

Congrats! I've completed all of the Halo games by myself on legendary and Halo 2 is by far the hardest. The jackal snipers, like many have said, being the biggest issue.

Well done TheDanger. That's impressive.

Halo on Legendary was my personal bridge too far. I've done all the Bungie titles on Heroic, both solo and with my son (which was awesome). It was great fun. In fact I'd say it's how Halo was meant to be played! But I tried Legendary, and no. Just no.

Cool thing about Halo 2 is that every major area with loads of jackal snipers (Jackal Alley, Jackal Valley, Jackal Galley) can be skipped with some measure of ingenuity.

Doesn't make Gravemind any less shitty though, especially that opening goddamn. You wanna know why Microsoft cut Bungie loose? Play the first few minutes of Gravemind.
