Got to sleep, forum is under maintenance for changes.

Wake up, forum is under maintenance to reverse changes.

What happened in those few hours?

-They announced a forum restructuring.
-Everyone tells them it's a terrible idea and not to do it.
-They do it anyway.
-Everyone finds the new structure terrible and lets the team know (again).
-They undo everything.

You would think mods on an internet forum would understand the Streisand Effect especially with where this forum originated from.

Thank fuck they opened one thread though.

They made an announcement thread, that's all well and good, but we should be allowed to have a discussion about it. Not just "this is our statement, that's the end of it." Just my two cents before this gets locked.

EDIT: Oh this was locked then unlocked? Alrighty then.

So is this the official "discuss failure" thread now?

If so should proly have chosen a thread with a better title.

And also not filled with shitposts.

Well, thanks for reopening, I was already getting the wrong message by every single thread being locked, at least having one to discuss about what happened is necessary

I'll copy-paste the OP of my thread that got locked (which I think would have served as a much better thread to talk about this than the current thread with its title and OP)

It seems clear that the change overnight was rather misguided. What's more misguided is the way these decisions were made and communicated. I don't want to unfairly shit on the admins, but many members were upset for a while and saw this coming. First there was the feedback thread, which was locked away and hidden rather quickly. Then we had the announcement of the restructure, which had a pretty small time window for people to react, and admins didn't seem interested in feedback. What made things worse was the message that they spoke with "prominent" members of the community to get feedback, which made people feel alienated. And clearly things didn't go as they planned.

I feel like this could have been avoided with more transparency, less rushing of things and in general having more open conversations about these decisions. Can we please have some constructive discussion here about how things will and should be handled going forward?

So I'm trying to understand here...when they said "prominent members," were they talking about prominent OT makers or just "famous" Era members?
