1 day and 8 hours on my Steam account, so I'll start playing an hour or so tomorrow night or later.

I really hope that the PC port is not broken, I don't want to wait fro another day or two if I change the game to the Ps4 version.

Wish Steam games released around midnight by default. It's kinda goddamn annoying that games unlock at 7 or 8pm for me.

That said, I have a planned dinner tomorrow after work around 5pm-ish, so I guess it doesn't matter that much in this case.

How often are we going to see the loading screens, actually?

If it's anything like the last console DQ game (VIII), I guess the zones would be huge enough that we wouldn't get to see loading screen that often.

Zones aren't as big as in VIII. They are also more enclosed, guiding the players on their path. The world doesn't feel small or funnelled though. There's a perfect variation of narrower areas and wider areas, some get pretty big, like the Heliodor field or the Gallopolis field for example. There are also usually lots of branching paths and gates to other areas. I often feel a little overwhelmed by what to check out and what to leave for later, which is imo a good feeling. There's lots to come back for.

Loading times you encounter from zone to zone and before entering or exiting a city or dungeon. If you move fast through the world you do encounter them fairly often, but they really don't take long. I didn't check the exact times, but I would guess it usually takes less than 10 seconds. Sometimes maybe just 5-6 seconds even. So far I never felt annoyed by it. The game also boots up surprisingly fast, especially compared to games like The Witcher 3, Horizon Zero Dawn, FFXV or God of War, they load for ages. Here you are in the game in maybe 10-15 sconds, again just a guess though.

How difficult is it to get the extra outfits in this? I really want the one for Serena in the Kotaku review...

For some it's as simple as just buying it from a shop (Serena has an early one from a shop) and for other's you'll need to obtain a recipe book and forge them that way. You'll find Recipe Books from chests, bookshelves and as part of a quest reward.

I loved Toriyama's original style, specially the artworks in games such as ChronoTrigger, the color palette was so natural and warm. Lately though he (or his staff) rely so heavily on the use of digital software to drawn and color that to me lost all his appeal. Just compare character artworks for the first 3 DQ vs 9 and upward. Such a pity...
I get that when it comes to artworks, but for the games we've only ever got the digitised version of it in there so it just amount to worse looking game covers now... Which we're already guaranteed to get an even worse version of in the west.

I'm really hoping this is a home run for me, I think the last JRPGs I played which I truly enjoyed were Lost Odyssey and Xenoblade Chronicles. Hated FFXV, Xenoblade X/2 and Ni No Kuni 2. Waiting on a sale for Octopath after playing the demo too.

I dunno about the fanbase but the free movement/camera is a godsend for me. i just realized your character doesnt do the whole un necesarilyl long jump to the enemy >camera tilt> attack> jump back routine if youre using the free movement and just walk up and press attack

Interesting. Someone mentioned the classic camera is still considerably faster, but I guess it depends on where your characters are standing. I'll have to switch between the two to see which one I like more.

Well its not like ive been comparing them with specific time counts. Just running up and attack feels a lot faster than waiting for all the animations to play out. And yes, your character will jump only if theyre far away.

It SEEMS like running behind an enemy to attack increase crit chance. Its happening way to often when I do it with any character.

Mmh, are there forged items with very rare ingredients that require a faq ? (I think I recall the end gear of 8 being a pain to forge).
And I suppose there are multiple endings, do we know yet how difficult the good/true one is to attain ?

Basically this being a 100-200 hours game, I am doing some reco before biting the bullet. Not really into multiple playthroughs in general and on games of this size in particular.

Any word on if the PC version will officially support DS4 (icons and such)?

Have a side quest around 9 hours in that's driving me insane!

It's the quest to kill a Spitfire in the desert using Hero, Erik and Serena with the 'Wild side' pep move. I purposely got Veronica killed and set everyone to follow orders and basically do nothing but defend so they get hit over and over and heal each other. About 3 times now I'll have 2 of them pepped up and the 3rd will go pep the turn after someone's fades. Another time I had everyone pepped up ready to pull off Wild side and the Spitzfire roared and knocked Erik to his feet which lasted for 2 turns and then 1 persons pep faded. It's so infuriating but pretty funny. Will try it again later.

My special edition from the Square-Enix online store arrived today.
It is the most beautiful SE i have seen in latter years, the artbook feels like one of those manuals from back then when manuals still incluided information about the game world and the protagonists. <3

I just need to finish Persona 5 first before i am going to play it.

Wait until you get the fifth party member and then you can switch someone out for the 5th once they're pepped up which allows you to control it more.
