Does anybody else have the issue of game updates not automatically downloading when the system is in rest mode or whatever? i turn on my console, and see i have updates for 9 games. Why aren't these automatically downloading when the console is in stand-by?

I'm using an external HDD and the "When Xbox is off, turn off storage" box is unchecked.

Anyone else had their X shut down while playing Everspace in 4k?

I've had this happen in the opening cards in Battlefront 2 - a known issue - but not in other games.

My console is well ventilated and doesn't get very hot. I replaced the thermal paste a while back and sound and heat aren't an issue.

After the Everspace shutdown and restart I got the X screen warning about ventilation etc, but my console really didn't overheat.

Anyone else have the issue where the fields for Download speed, Upload speed and Packet loss are all blank when you run Detailed network statistics?

The only results I get are Latency 75 ms and MTU 1480z

So I've been thinking of picking up the Battlefield V Xboner X in October to replace my ancient 2013 gargantuan release day Xbox with a semi-broken disc sensor that makes the console turn itself on if there's no disc in the tray. Does anyone know if that's still set to release in October like stores are showing or if it's also been delayed like the game? So far I'm under the impression that they're still releasing in October with the redeemable game code that will unlock it in November like a normal pre-order.

I realized that I likely can't train my family to open the entertainment center so the new One X can breathe. I added Microsoft's extended warranty with accidental damage coverage. Was $50, but I bought the MS bucks discounted so cost ended up $40 for 3 years.

Has anybody here had your X overheat or shutdown while playing destiny 2? It's happened multiple times in the past month and I researched it and have seen multiple people complain about the same thing with nothing being done about it

So i just applied some Arctic Silver 5 to the APU on my Xbox One X, the paste that was on there was already flaky and dry so im not sure what type of paste they are using but must be cheap stuff what ever it is.

This is what the thing looked like when i took it apart.....

cE4MOFg.jpg

all cleaned up....

and then with the thermal past applied...

0GAV2bu.jpg

Havent properly tried it out yet just leaving the Xbox idling on the dash so the thermal paste can settle thoroughly at the moment

Hi Resetera, I've been planning to buy an X1X later this year, and started researching into whether it had problems (owned Xbox original, 360, and now PS4, faced problems in both xboxes, so thought about doing some research before I buy).

My question now is, exactly how much of a problem is the thermal paste issue in X1X's? Are there different model numbers/bundles/editions where this problem has been solved? After searching online for the past several hours, it seems like a lot of early adopters faced this issue, mainly with the Scorpio edition. However, unlike the 360 I haven't been able to find any serial/model numbers for X1X and the differences between them.

Since I'm new to this OT, and not very much versed in the updates that X1X had in the last year, would be very much appreciated if someone who is can help me out :)

Whenever you decide on getting an X, you can toggle an option in Settings to download the enhancements first on your regular Xbox. That way you can transfer the downloads over to the X via an external hard drive or network transfer instead of needing to wait to download the enhancements after getting the new console.

Are they automatically downloaded once you get an x though ?

Bought the X yesterday as I got it cheap after trading in my launch PS4 and some stuff.

Gotta say I don't like the UI at ALL (this is my first time with XB1, used to have a 360.) Seems pretty messy and can be difficult to navigate, but oh well.

Don't really even know what to do with it yet aside from playing SOTN, RDR & Witcher 2.

Try to use the controller shortcuts for navigation. Left/Right Triggers go up and down lists, Left/Right Bumpers allow you to move left and right on tabs. Xbox button brings up menu and from that you can pretty much access anything quickly. You can also setup your own groups of items which is great if you have lots of games. I have games setup in groups as Online Multiplayer / Local Coop / Shooters / Driving / Sports etc.

Im sure youll be able to find a 5min quick overview on youtube.

Get Gamepass if you haven't already. Many games on there from this gen which you missed since you never had an XB1 before.

Yeah, got that and EA access as well for whatever reason. I've
actually never played any significant amount of any of the Halo's and Gears' games so I've got a bunch of stuff to do.

Did Tekken Tag Tournament 2 get removed from Gamepass? They should show that on the product page.. right now it is just asking me if I own the game or not.

I really want to play, but $19.99 is a stupid price. :/

In a bit of a bind. I installed Pinball FX3 and it only found 3 of the 20+ tables I had on Pinball FX2 on the 360. Wrote Zen and they told me to just find them in my purchase history. Problem is I purchased MS Points and then used that to buy the DLC tables and those don't appear to show in purchase history. Is that normal? So then I figured I could just go to my list of owned items but for the 360 it only lets me select the "Game" department, not "DLC" (like you can with the One). Lastly I figured I'd go look in my download history but can't seem to find that anywhere, all of the help pages are out of date.

So, is there any way for me to get proof of the 360 Pinball FX2 DLC tables I own? I'll be damned if I'm buying them again. Thanks for any help!

What's the best way to get the 4k HDR screenshots I have in the console? Definitely not by sharing them to twitter nor saving them from the phone app

They have got to fix this WiFi thing.. I have 3 X's and basically anytime I use "instant on" there's a really good chance that I won't have a network until I hard power cycle.

It happens with all 3, so it's not just a broken device. I'm hearing about it from a lot of users, so it's not my network. The occurance today wouldn't even let me into settings at all until it had been power cycled.

I just got an Xbox One S, so happy. Question for the technical peeps: using my free trial of Game Pass, if I end up buying a game physically that I downloaded from gamepass, do I have to delete and reinstall the game and download patches when my trial runs out? Or will it convert the already downloaded game to physical? Thanks!

Congrats on the purchase - an xbox + a few months of game pass is a great way to experience the platform, especially with Forza Horizon 4 out so soon.

In my experience, you're good. I've mixed & matched various games between disk installs, online trials etc, and had zero trouble. But I can't say it's a 100% across the board experience because I don't know if it's a system wide 'rule' to keep the installed package the same - I suspect it just 'works' for most titles that don't have any weird title configurations.

Thanks! It might sound super silly but a reason I got one was because I missed playing a lot of my 360 games and even the Xbox Original games I still have! Such as Blinx and Knights of the old Republic. Also Rare Replay.

And thanks! Guess I shouldn't worry about how much I download then!

Downloaded games and disc games use the same install. No need to reinstall if you have one of the versions already installed. So if you download Halo 5 from Gamepass for example, and your trial runs out, and you decide to buy the disc and play, it'll just work.

well my xbox one x was stolen unfortunately. Pretty devastated as it was my only current gen system and I used some of my tax return to buy it. At least I have my 360 in storage.

To anyone else with an LG B7 (or even similar I imagine), this is driving me nuts and it should be so damn simple.
What button do I need to press on the remote to see the current image settings? Like just a quick glance at what resolution is currently being output, hz, etc. etc. I saw it once and cannot find it again, and it is driving me nuts.
I just want to see the current video settings for whatever is currently being displayed.

AD/SAP button or DATA button?

AD/SAP button or DATA button?
Yep, well kind of sort of. Have to press the SAP button, press Info, then press the top of the screen, the press the info at the top of the screen to get it to display the details.
Alternatively I can get the pointer to come up by activating the scroll wheel, press the top of the screen to get the info to come up, then press again for the details. That also works.

I swear it was easier at one point in time, but oh well, at least I figured it out. Was literally driving me insane. It also helped me troubleshoot my Apple TV. It is upscaling everything even though it is not supposed to. It is not a bad thing as things probably look better as a result, but just strange it is not doing what it should.

Thanks again for the reply. Helped me eventually figure it out.

Probably a stupid question, but is there a setting I'm missing somewhere to have my TV automatically turn on when I turn the xbox on? I tried searching and everything I turned saw required Kinect. Is that really the only way?

I have the input in my TV's settings configured the same way the Switch and PS4 are so I would assume it's an Xbox setting I'm missing.

Replying to my own query lol, in case there's someone with similar queries in the future:

So I bought an Xbox One X, and the manufacturing date was May 2018. As the retailer where I bought it from does free repairs anyway, I went ahead (at my own risk) and opened it up to change the thermal paste. Sure enough, the paste was dry and hard, so I changed it.

The Xbox has been working fine so far :D

Seems like I found out the hard way that my Sony TV doesn't support HDR with Xbox One X. It's odd because:

- It's model number is KDL-43W750E, and the Sony website specs says the HDR is HDR10
- I've set the HDMI mode to Enhanced. It says that Enhanced allows it to display 2k HDR content (the TV is not 4k but 1080p)
- Some users say that Sony TVs support HDR in HDMI port 2. There's only 2 ports in this TV, and I've tried both
- I also had a PS4, and it automatically switched to HDR mode when HDR content came on. E.g. Fifa 18
- The Xbox at least recognizes HDR to some extent - when I set the HDMI mode to Advanced, in the video settings of Xbox One X, the "Allow HDR" checkbox changes from greyed out to active. However, even if the checkbox is checked, in the 4K TV Details it still says that HDR10 is not available, games won't show in HDR etc etc
- I've also tried out the Insects app. Nope, HDR toggle with the Y button is greyed out

TV is probably HDR8, but then why would PS4 support it and not Xbox One X? Also, why is "Allow HDR" available with the "Enhanced" HDMI mode then?

The Xbox reddit might be able to help if you dont get any luck here. You may need to find someone with the same TV as you who figured it out. Sorry :(

I think that my X is somehow "dying" ?

Couldn't install FH4 to my internal without the "Installation stopped" message popping up everytime I try to hit "Install". It would install 12% of the game and just stop, and then pressing "Install" triggered "Installation stopped".

(Stuff like that started to happen with updating some games just a couple of weeks ago)

Installing it right now to my external. Everyhting is going smoothly.

Internal hard drive RIP ?

Yup sounds like a dying internal HDD. A E102/105 error will probably pop up soon

Question about how XBL accounts work? Is it possible to use the same account on an Xbox and a PC at the same time? Or when i sign into the account on the pc, is it going to kick the xbox off the account?
Mine is always signed in on the PC and the Xbox One X. Do you mean this to be anything other than signed on? Playing the same game on PC and Xbox at the same time? etc.

For example... Sea of Thieves. If I'm playing it on the console. Then try and play the game on the PC, when it signs in the game on the PC, it will tel you that you're already signed in playing on another device. Do you want to sign and here and it'll sign you out on the other device.

Just having both accounts going at once is not an issue though.

Was wondering if it is possible to play the same game or even different games for that matter?
Just edited my previous post just in case this question came up lol. Quick reply is, "no" for the same game. I'm playing Sea of Thieves on the Xbox One X, and the Forza Horizon 4 demo on the PC at the same time, same accounts.

For people that also have a PS4:

How do I delete save files on the Xbox similar to that? The only option I had was clear local saved files and not controlling individual saves on a specific game...
