Just got to the first boss I'm having trouble with in Hollow Knight. Flukemarm or whatever it's called. Best strategy I can come up with is to just stand on a platform and shoot it, while fending off those things it shoots out, but every once in a while they just swarm me and knock me off the platform, and it just goes downhill from there. I think I'll have to come back to this boss later.

I just fought this boss today! Fortunately for you it's totally optional.

Bought Phantaruk today. Forever Entertainment always seems to get me with their "50% off if you own one of our other games," deals they have. It's hard to resist something that looks even moderately interesting when it's only $2.50.

It's...pretty decent! Seems like a neat little first person puzzle/stealth game.

This looks so good

Coming to Switch next year.

Yes, someone posted a topic or something. They called it a CatMechtroidvania. That was my laugh for the day.

Anyway, I'm into it. Looks awesome. I'll say the same then as now: Metroidvanias rely on tight gameplay and great level design. We'll see if this one holds up.

Crossplay on Switch won't work again until the latest patch is available on Switch. Nintendo needs to improve their certification process for hotfixes, otherwise this kind of situation will keep happening.

I see, thank you. How long does Nintendo *usually* take for such a thing? Also, how often do patches seem to happen to Rocket League
, if anyone knows these things?

We knew this day would come and here is. Game of the Day has repeated a game and casually the first one (The End is Nigh), so it could be the start of a loop.

If someone wants to recommend an overlooked game, can take this opportunity.

Gonna ask this again here hoping someone has a response. Has ANYONE been able to play online with a friend in Human Fall Flat? It even possible, or is it entirely broken? Me and my brother have tried dozens of times and can never see each other's game.
Online has just been added and most people who have discussed the game have bought it a while back and played local co op, which may be the reason you are not getting responses here . Did you try the developer's twitter?

'Puzzle Adventure Blockle' is secretly one of the best puzzle games to grace a portable console, that I think that I have never seen recommended in these threads.

Intense is such a brilliant and overlooked Japanese indie team, they also made the superb 'Picdun 2: Witch's Curse' for Nintendo 3DS, a crossover between a first person dungeon crawler in the vein of 'Etrian Odyssey' with the fucking 'Picross', that is.

Wasteland 2 looks super rough on Switch. Looks like an early Vita game. I know Unity is a dog and WL2 wasn't exactly a performance champ on PC, but oof. Hoping the release version is much nicer.

This is not cool, Nintendo of America.

Kris Steele from Fun Infused Games is one of the most talented video game designers in the current indie scene. But I will not even talk about the historical importance and context of some of his games, or why 'HyperShip Out of Control' is an essential classic praised by the critic.

I will talk about the importance of Kris Steele in the XBLIG scene, as one of the most well regarded members in this community of developers, and about all the effort that he demonstrated in the past to help to promote the work of other independent developers that today are releasing their games in the eShop, sometimes with luxurious physical editions.

Nobody wants a Wii U situation, with a lack of curation and with an eShop flooded by exploitative releases.

But something is wrong with your curation process, Nintendo of America, when someone with the talent and historical importance of Kris Steele is rejected by your system.

Damn, tolkir , your radar is always on point. Very happy to see 'Marble It Up!' listed as one of the featured releases of the month.

While by looking at the screenshots it can seem like other cheap indie game with asset flips and you know, marbles, like the hundred of cheap titles released with rolling marbles each year in Steam...

This game is created by part of the team that made the legendary 'Marble Blast Ultra' in Xbox 360, and it seems the best game with rolling marbles to grace a Nintendo console since 'Kororinpa' for Wii, that was to Wii the same thing that 'Etrian Odissey' to Nintendo DS: the best game in its entire catalogue.

Congratulations for other amazing thread with a crystal-clear structure. Nintendo should hire you to design the next eShop layout :)
If you like marble games, you might want to check out Road to Ballhalla :) I've released it last month on Switch (and all other major platforms). Despite stellar reviews it sadly launched completely off the radar for most people.

Obviously really looking forward to playing Marble It Up - the more balls on Switch, the better!

Doing the same, stupid thing they did with cosmic star Heroine I see, where they outright rejected the game and forced them to go via a publisher, and even then Nintendo totally ignored the game. Don't know why they feel the need to police things when literally every game under the sun from Japanese devs are allowed even if they're awful like Vroom in the Night Sky. :|

Thanks for your recommendation, I already have 'Road to Ballhalla', I purchased the game back in the release day in Steam.

Games based in physics and rolling balls are among my favorites.

Also I need to say that two of my most beloved games in this sub-genre, were released as exclusives in Nintendo consoles, 'Super Monkey Ball' and 'Kororinpa'.

Regarding 'Road to Ballhalla', I played the first levels and then got distracted by other games, but now with the excuse of the Switch release, once it's on sale, I will probably double dip, giving a second chance to the game.

Talking about games based in balls and the use of physics, 'Super Inefficient Golf' has been announced for September. It's made by the creators of 'RedOut', and the trailer is bananas.

It's a mini golf twist detonating bombs to change the trajectory of the ball.

Crazy stuff :)

Any recommendations for a cheap game that isn't a metroidvania or a 2D retro platformer? It seems like those make up 90% of the Switch library and I'm looking for something different. I have Rocket League and Okami but other than that my Switch is collecting dust :/
I think Mario + Rabbids, Splatoon 2 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe all have significant discounts right now.

Valkyria Chronicles 1 Remaster will launch on Switch in October for 20 dollars. South Park: The Stick of Truth launches in September, I also think it will be 20 bucks but I could be wrong.

While I appreciate to finally have the arcade version of 'Balloon Fight' in an official console port, the NES version is vastly superior to the arcade one.

To begin with, the physics of the game are much improved thanks to the magic of Satoru Iwata. Indeed, how he adjusted the movement in this NES port with a new decimal algorithm is considered among his greatest achievements as a programmer.

And secondly, it has the Balloon Trip mode, exclusive to this NES version. That is something like the blueprint for 'Flappy Bird' or 'Canabalt': the godfather of the endless runners. Being a landmark in video game history.

Third, and not less important, I prefer the single screen layout in its main mode, because it makes much more easy to create complex strategies for scoring. Because you will always see the complete scenario in the screen.

The arcade version of 'Ballon Fight' is cool as an historical curiosity, and an obscure piece of Nintendo history. It's great for preservation to also have this Hamster release.

But as a great fan of Satoru Iwata, the NES version, that will always be linked to his person, it's the way to go.
I'm actually a little surprised Hamster didn't hurry to get all their Vs series titles out before NES Online hits. I know the games are different but still, I'm sure a lot fewer people would've bpught Vs Super Mario Bros if they'd had the "free" NES original with online play already.

It has an explanation: the quality control of Nintendo.

https://nintendoeverything.com/hams...s-for-switch-working-with-nintendo-much-more/

By reading how the process of bringing 'Mario Bros' was, I can perfectly understand the slow pace of these releases.

Hamster formed an inspection team to thoroughly check various sides of the game. For example, not only gameplay, but also the audio was inspected. In the latter case, they asked game audio specialists to compare the original and Arcade Archives versions and adjust parts that felt unnatural.

As the Arcade Archives version is played with a LCD monitor and modern speakers, the upright cabinets owned by Nintendo proved to be a very good basis of development and comparison. Nintendo also pointed out if there were any slight discrepancies in the audio and colors (especially Luigi's shirt color), so they had to repeat these minute adjustments until they reached perfection.

Working with Nintendo is not an easy task, they are very exigent.

So kudos to Hamster. They have demonstrated to be among the best teams in the world working with emulators, by satisfying event the exigent criteria of Nintendo, not less.

I'm interested in Undertale and maybe Observer if it will be released this month.
Marble it up! cater also to my liking but I find it weird that you control the ball instead of the plane (maybe I'm just a Kororinpa purist).

As for last month purchases, I was a bit disappointed in Minit.
Minit has lot of charme and character and the premise of being constraint by 60 seconds play session is interesting but I thought that those gimmick couldn't sustain the game.
Minit feels more like a nice experiment than a game I would like to play and it lives and dies on its gimmick and charm of the world.

Is there a round up or list of what Switch late ports are already on PS/X and what improvements or additions they have over the PS/X versions and what price point each is?

I'm thinking of games like Bastion, Transistor, Hyper Light Drifter, Dust, et al. These games look good to me and then I realize I maybe should see if they're cheaper on XB1 since I have that system. I got it for $70 or so a couple years ago for Ori - totally worth it just for that amazing game - but I don't think I've played any other game to completion on the system despite trying a few out. So I forget to check out stuff on there.

Also, this is the screenshot of Dust I always see online. Do you fight deer in this game? Deer are cute and I wouldn't like a game where you fight them.

Nah, they are one of the passive wildlife you'll encounter. You do fight wolves but I wouldn't call them cute.

I don't know how is in its multiplayer part (and a lot of friends have recommend me this game as one of his favorite games to play with casual friends), but the single player score-attack part of 'Astro Bears Party' is one of the finest takes in the Snake formula that I have played.

It combines with wisdom some simple but very clever ideas, to create a superb addictive score-attack game with a fantastic sound design that you can't stop playing. Seriously, the idea of making of the sphere a transparent surface, so you can anticipate each movement with a 'Super Mario Galaxy' inspired layout, in combination with the jump button and an ultra-risky dash movement, is bananas. The guy who designed this mode is a really talented person with a a great vision of each single element making of an arcade game a fun experience.

Also, by using the search function, I find that the game was recommended by bytesized . I'm glad to see that his taste is always on point :)

For a fucking dollar, very recommended.

And while I dislike the "marketing" strategy of having games in eternal fire sales to obtain visibility, kudos to QubicGames for releasing two superb arcade games, with the other one being the Switch port of 'One Strike'. One of the arcade sensations of 2017 when it was released in Steam, and praised by important sites such as Rock Paper Shotgun.

It's tight, it's tense, it's highly exhilarating to score a victory with a minimum of moves made and, that perennial favourite of mine, it's a single idea realised with great aplomb. The pixel art is characterful and distinctive rather than slavishly retro, too.

Come back when your nail is at least level 2, the fight becomes 100% easier

You should also consider going into the Greenway first, just sayin
