Considering the level of knowledge in video games many GS employees have, these are pretty worthless comments. Most of them probably didn't even know what the game is about.

I wouldn't trust a thing Gamestop employee say. From their gaming taste to their honesty to customers.

Every reveal of RDR2 so far has been incredibly unexciting to me, it's all more of the same, and apparently nothing happened in the last eight years. So when they say Rockstar just showed them 15 minutes of horse riding and asked them to be excited about it, I believe it.

'Rockstar Equestrian Simulator 2k19' made me laugh.

I can see though why 15 minutes of horse riding would be boring to watch, things like that are usually better received when actually playing the game and soaking in the environments.

It's not all bad, though.

"I thought RDR2 looked great," said a Gamestop manager. "Definitely GOTY contender and I'm not going to judge by one mission. Anyone who enjoyed the first one is probably [going to] love this new one."

So what he's saying is, the mission really was shit?

Well, they're watching a demo of 15-minute horse riding, of course it'll be boring. Other than looking at the landscape, what's there to see? I'd be bored too if I watched it.

Now if I'm actually playing it, that will be a totally different experience.

Exactly. Context is everything. Everyone loves that bit from the first game where you're riding into Mexico while that wistful Jose Gonzales song plays, but it doesn't mean anything outside of its place in the game; if they'd shown it in pre release footage, everyone would be bored silly.

It is highly disrespectful to disregard the opinion of someone because of where they work, especially when it's just to defend a game from your favourite maker that you haven't even played or seen yet.

Genuinely shocked that Eurogamer thought that this constitutes a worthwhile article.

Those gamestop employees sound like me playing RDR1 when I was 18.

Just a boring, padded out game with decent graphics but a very heartfelt final act to its story.

But all my friends loved it so I acknowledge it is a me-issue.

Red Dead Redemption as a series is good because it's Rockstar spending their obscene levels of detail and money on something that takes itself seriously rather than plastering everything with dick jokes.

There was a lot of riding horses in Red Dead. With the map being way bigger there will be even longer horse rides.

This is really encouraging for me since for some reason i was worried they are going to get it a lot more actiony than the first one. Something happening every few meters. The feeling of loneliness while you ride for a while with nothing in sight was one of my favorite things from the previous game.

GameStop expo attendees seem about as clued up about games as GAME UK employees. I'm gonna guess they were all COD dudebro types.

So it was a slow-paced mission and they're being incredibly hyperbolic? Okay. Sounds like the other dude has the right idea when he says don't judge the game from a single demo.

Just like the first.

I was really regretting my purchase back when it came out because of that slow start. Glad I stuck with it though.

I'm still excited for the game but I can see how a demo focusing on the quiet time of traversing the open world might be boring. There's a big difference between playing a game and watching a demo of it, and if Rockstar failed to bridge that difference well then that's on them instead of the Gamestop employees.

People on the Internet apeaking in hyperbole? Shocking.

Seriously though, I don't think much value should be placed on a handful of comments about a hands off demo.

RDR2 doesn't sound like a game that would live demo well. Even RDR1 depending upon where you threw someone in could look incredibly boring for a 10-15 minute chunk of the game.

Interesting that Eurogamer went with that title instead of "Can't talk but rest assured it will be the greatest game ever made".

The first game was super dull too. Wouldn't be surprised if the second is more of the same.

Edit: ^ Haha, beaten.

That sounds a lot like how the original game was and how all Rockstar games feel really. Rockstar gameplay is always a tad boring but the world and atmosphere usually elevates their games.

I mean, I'm just going to push a boat out into a lake and fish for 10 hours anyway.

Maybe after I'll walk from one end of the map to the other, and I mean walk.

Current A.D.D generation need guitar riffs , massive red iverlays , 20 medals popping up on screen every few minutes to be satisfied.

Sounds exactly like the first and like just about every gta game . Lots of walking between missions .

Keep in mind these attendees are store managers and already exhausted from a week of wagon circling and seminars, not the passionate rank and file Game Advisors that can easily get hyped over any new game on the Five fo Drive.

Why is this controversial, exactly? Watching a demo where the player is just riding a horse for 15 whole minutes does sound boring, that's a terrible demo.

I believe there is more to it than meets the eye.
Lets talk about the attendees. Are you sure that they were in good mood at that time? Maybe they just had a long day so their mood was kinda down? I once fell asleep in theatre for watching Harry Potter, it wasnt bad but i was tired since i just had a flight hours before. Maybe this is similar to that case?

Not to doubt the wonderful Rockstar machine, but haven't there sort of been rumblings that the game got reworked a few times over because it wasn't engaging (or innovative? Something like that.)? People will love this game but I won't be surprised if reaction is more mixed than usual for Rockstar games.

i love this type of gameplay, the amount of hours i spent just wandering around Skyrim and cannot wait to do the same in RDR2

Unfortunatly this is probably a reflection of the 'Fortnite' generation, instant action, instant gaming, loads of colors, shots, explosions........pfft bore off

Im actually quite curious to see what's gonna happen when this comes out.

We have right now a full generation of people who never played the first red dead redemption (much less Revolver) but have gornw up knowing GTA 4 and 5 as their "First big game" which some of them have been playing for years which will go on to this day. Now, all these people will change to the "new hotness from the same team that did GTA 4 and 5" and they will find this.

I have no idea what will happen but i can predict we will see the 2 groups that we always see... the people that defend it cause they can't accept the huge title fro mthe big company they are so invested with just not being as good as they hoped it would be... and the people that attack it just cause it's not the same as the previous game they played before this one. And of course... the people that will shit on it because this will be the popular thing to shit on.

What im saying is that the first 3 months of this game being out are going to be a shitshow regardless of the game's actual quality.

I didn't think the gameplay they showed looked particularly unique or interesting to be honest. I'm sure it will be good though, just not the 10/10 that a lot of people are expecting.

The deliberate pacing of RDR, with the long travels trough the wild was one of the reasons that game shone.
