Yeah, poor Krasinski is only married to Emily Blunt and made A Quiet Place
I need to watch that movie at some point. The only place I've seen him outside of The Office was in 13 Hours... All I remember is that the move was ok and he was fucking RIPPED.

Also.... Sigh..... <3 Emily...

Yeah, she's the girl who was also in IT.
Ok

And that's another movie I need to see.

Speaking of Sharp Object... Other than the main cast (Amy Adams, Patricia Clarkson and Henry Czerny (I love that dude! Mission: Impossible 4ever)... The only two other actors I recognized were the police chief (Matt Craven) and Jackie (Elizabeth Perkins) and the reason I recognized them is because they were both in HBO's "From the Earth to the Moon" lol

Gotta hand it to Yakuza 6, I thought I knew who Haruto's father was and I was way off target.

I thought for sure it was Hirose, the old dude.

i feel like the last sentence could serve as a Madlibs template for any given HBO show. "hey, it's that guy from Oz/The Sopranos/Girls/SITC/Deadwood!" it's like there's some utility closet in the HBO offices they keep a roster of character actors stored in lol

Yeah it's crazy... Especially for those big shows from the early 00' like FTETTM (that was 98), OZ and The Wire... So many actors started there and ended up becoming huge stars.

uhm

when it comes to tv shows or movies

it portrays the characters. She's a shithead for using that slur, and that is what her language is meant to convey.

Come on guys. If a TV show has a misogynistic character or a racist, it doesn't really make them misogynistic or racist in real life. It's also obvious from the scene around it that this isn't meant to be a positive use of the word or something that's meant to be ok.

Can we start a petition to get Abby to stop saying "computer games"

That's like one step away from referring to every console as "the Nintendo"
I petition everyone goes back to the 80s/early 90s days of referring to games by their medium.

Nintendo is preparing a new cartridge for Super Smash Bros., while Sony Corp. is making a new Blu-Ray game of Spider-Man.

Nah, it's played for laughs and that character is never called out for it.

I think drawing a line between deaths this week and a single line in an entire show filmed months ago is a bit yikes itself. There's wanting people to be better and then there's being wilfully unreasonable.

The larger question is whether we want art to reflect what is existent or what we want to exist. I don't have any quick answers for that one.

The other character isn't laughing.

Is she a protagonist in the show? Or a dickhead?
I mean she's a dickhead.

But let's be real. Someone wrote this scene. Someone acted this scene. This is just contributing to a culture of transphobia - maybe they COULD'VE gone without having a scene in which assault and trans hatred is played for laughs - like "hahaha this character got beat up by a trans person isn't that hilarious fellow straight men". It isn't particularly plot relevant.

But whatever. If I wanted to be lectured on how I should feel about transphobic content by some cis dude, I'd reopen my twitter account.
