One thing I really hope is in here is something close to what happens in GTA games. Goofy NPC interactions that can give the feeling of life happening around you while you stand still. Theft, car crashes and altercations, gang fights that don't involve you, etc.

QFT. It's never boring to just walk the streets in GTA V because of all that. Seems were're already seeing some of that in the demo, so not too worried. What I'm concerned about is how they react to you, whether it's possible to just have fun messing around with civilians. (Please none of that Deus ex nonsense where they don't react at all when you throw boxes at them, or their other state is, at gunshots,to run to a corner and cower, and then not react to anything else.

These gifs yo. The attention to detail in this game is off the chain.
Yeah like GTAV I love those random events so I hope this game has moments like that where stuff is happening around you like the police chases, people getting robbed and more.

Even things that weren't in the area of cyberpunk or fictionalized dystopian art had this as well.

There's a reason that Yutani is a part of the Weyland-Yutani Megacorp in the Alien franchise.

I can't tell by your text if you are aware that the Alien and Blade Runner films take place in the same universe. Some people know some don't but they've placed little Easter egg clues here and there. For example in the 1999 Alien dvd extras its stated Captain Arthur Dallas previously worked for the Tyrell Corporation. There's other audible and visual clues in the films themselves as well.

Judging by the footage, Holiday 2019 seems like the sweet spot for launch

That would make sense, so I'm (sadly) thinking holiday 2020.

You have to add 1 year because nothing in video games comes out on time if given a choice.

Like, CDPR will probably think the game is mostly done as holiday 2019 approaches, then they'll be like, ya know what, we just need a bit more polish, quality first, we wanna be like rockstar, taking our time is paramount, and so they'll delay it a year.

Anyone else feel like the press blew things out of proportion when they were talking about this game during E3. I mean the game looks great but is it really something that will redefine a genre. The Witcher 3 was amazing in every respect but I don't know of many developers outright copying things from it. If anything the witcher 3 took a lot of elements from other games and just did them very well.

BOTW and Horizon both have elements that could have been inspired by TW3. The major strengths of TW3 are in its characters, writing an world design. Those aren't things you can really copy.

Just finished watching it. Gameplay looked great but I hated both V and Jackie's personalities. I really hope we can change V's at least. And I hate it when spoken dialogue doesn't match the dialogue options at all in tone.

Other than that, looks like CDPR might have another GOTY.

Gotta get those clicks.

I don't see how it's disrespectful at all. I mean someone in the trailer actually spoke Norwegian and I felt that was cool as a Norwegian. I mean like in blade runner would anyone say Asian cultures where disrespected in that?

Of course they were ! Squares in kanji graffiti's all around were drawn with 4 strokes and not 3 ... 4 ! the heresy !
I am kidding :) of course not.

(sorry bluebot for the past message i forgot to delete on first submission)

This game reminds me of what gaming used to be like in the 90s early 3D era. As did Witcher 3;

It's this wonderful technical showcase of not just mine but the developer's technical ambitions for what can happen in a game, and something that uniquely pushes the boundaries on those technical limits, and that alone makes this game seem so exciting to me... And the pc Core i5 8500 x GTX 1060 I'm ordering right the fuck now.

you're gonna need a more powerful PC than that to run it.

what you see in the demo is only 1080p and it's running on an 8700K, 32GB, 1080 Ti. CDPR games are always demanding on PC. my 1070 still struggles a little with Witcher 3 at 1440p 60fps with hairworks off. i mean it's playable but the framerate isn't solid (6700K). I'll definitely need to upgrade my PC for Cyberpunk and even then i imagine it will not be enough. if they include ray tracing then we're all fucked :)

I don't care for resolutions that push the price up. I live in a blissful unawareness of how good 4K is so I've been sticking to the best 1080p displays you can get. I think 1060 will be fine, maybe with the sacrifice of a few settings or resolution scaling. I'm slightly worried about the CPU though.

You can take it out anywhere, but we do block firing in specific situations (the gun cocking at the start is the player holding the fire button).

This is interesting. Are we talking about more story specific situations or free-roam?

btw. game looks fire, but please don't forget about blood spatter, it would be very nice to have that blood in the air (when popping of legs and heads) actually go somewhere on the ground/walls, at least some of it. :p

Keep up the good work~

What's twitch's and youtubes policy on genitals? Could imagine that might be a reason why they avoided any full frontal nudity in this demo
dificult to say..some youtubers have pixeleted the boobs in the demo, some other left them in

for sure youtube doesn't actually do anything until they receive complaits or something like that...on youtube you can find old exploitation movies that are full of nudity and yet they are still on their servers because almost no one sees them and the ones who do knew exactly what they were looking for and have no reason to complain.

https://www.gamerevolution.com/feat...nk-2077-uses-asian-culture-as-window-dressing

Much like the taxi driver controversy, such impressions always seem a bit premature to me - but I get that if you have a website you have to keep it going somehow.
This seems bit weird, especially considering the game is atleast one year maybe two away and we've seen 45 minutes of it. We don't quite yet know how Norwegian, Chinese, Nigerian, Ukranian, Icelandic, Turkish, Russian, Australian and Peruvian cultures and people are represented in the final game. Which the article does acknowledge. I of course hope that they all fit in and are respectfully, equally and accurately portrayed.

Yeah I really don't mind this type of critique. It can be really insightful and I like to read stuff like this. I'm not in the "no politics!" camp. But part of the article seems really unreasonable. Witcher 3 did have a Sauna in it (mispronounced in the English dub, it's not "soona" you fuckers!), this if of course Finnish culture. In Skellige there also were books which mentioned some Finnish names. I also thought this was cool, since games or any non-Finnish media rarely gives any representation or even nods to Finnish culture and people. But Finnish culture was used just to give the world bit of flavor, as the game was mix of many cultures and mythologies from different European countries to Arabic. Mostly Polish and Slavic though. Lot of Nordic influence in Skellige, yet they speak with Irish accents. Finnish culture didn't play a big and meaningful part, it was used to dress up the world. They simply can't give every culture and mythology equal representation they drew from. Just like with Cyberpunk. Nor they could represent every European country even though they took inspiration from others. As the article writer seems to suggest that ignoring other Asian countries and cultures would be problematic when having Chinese and Japanese influence present in the game. We've also had someone in this thread suggest that latinx isn't represented dominantly enough. The more diversity they have, more problems will seem to arise. Will this turn into battle royale of cultures, fighting over who gets the biggest chunk of representation in the game? Until there's just white yankees left.

The article writer does bring up Blade Runner. And I'm sure there's been article or two written from this same angle about it too.
This guy's store is a trolley? Lol. But I really want to know what's on that tape haha.
Pee pee tape! Also:

Okay, I had to do a double-take.

No, 'backwards' is not some kind of ableist reference to being cognitively impaired. Don't know why you asked if you were just going to assert that it is, immediately afterward.

My question was rhetorical- saying someone is saying "borderline backwards ramblings" is like one step away from calling someone "retarded" or something equally as offensive.

I bet a 1060 will be enough for 30fps. As usual with PC games, it's highly unoptimized right now. If this game comes out and a 1080ti still struggles to reach 30fps at 1080p like it does today I will be very surprised (and disappointed).

After PoE 2? Pass. It was okay, but nowhere near what PoE 1 delivered while on top of that just felt incomplete in many ways.

Please explain. PoE 2 i felt was better than the original in every way. And i thought the origin as l wss pretty damn good.

Personally id be all in for an obsidisn plus harebrained schemes shadowrun joint. Maybe suth the divinity engine.

I though that there not being a 3rd person camera was a mistake, then I watched the gameplay demo. FPS is the way to go for this game. It just oozes atmosphere.

I'm a bit sad that this demo didn't do much for me. I recognize all the ways in which it's impressive, and it's obvious that this game is poised to be Skyrim or GTA levels of huge (both in terms of scope and success). However, the dialogue and characterization in what they showed was just so poor I can't believe this is being done by CDPR, and I'm not even talking about the cursing.

At least the combat looked good. Just hope they manage to tell a memorable story, because it would be a damn big waste of effort if they didn't.

From what I read and saw from the media before seeing the gameplay demo myself, I'd say no they didn't. But it's likely we've read and saw some different things, so I'd need concrete examples to answer if what you saw was blowing things out of proportion.

Aonuma has said in an interview that he played Witcher as research for Breath of the Wild, also Far Cry and Skyrim and that he was finding ideas from those games. Also it's common sentiment that Witcher has influenced the new Assassin's Creed games in a positive manner. How and how much Cyberpunk77 will influence future games is of course yet to be seen.

Tagging this all just because.

  • Main story is very short and doesn't have that much narrative depth, on top of you being basically just passive observer to events you have zero influence over. Even other Gods are just passive observers at the end. Brings into mind latest Deus Ex game in a way, as mid-step game / story that is meant to pay off in 3rd game if it ever happens so it ends up being not so satisfying on its own.
  • All companion quests are maybe half done, at best. Moment they start to go somewhere and get really interesting they just... end, like running into solid concrete wall. I know devs gave whole "We didn't want to focus on them as they are so much work and focused on other things" explanation for them being so bare bones when compared to PoE 1 ones, but it's what it's. Incomplete quests without satisfying end. Serafen has best ending, but even that feels like midway point.
  • Ship stuff was just tacked on and could have used more time in oven. Which I heard they have basically redesigned since in patches.
  • You could exhaust all dialogue with companions very quickly at events of game didn't really seem to open anything new so after a bit I just stopped visiting them.
  • Outside of few core content islands for main and side progression content was bounties and just looting fruits from tiny island. I may have missed something major, but that vampire island wasn't even connected to anything? It was just there to explore optionally for arguable one of their best side stories in whole game.
  • Choosing between factions ends up being quite binary without much gray area to blend it. Not related to quality of game, but just how I feel about all 3 major factions: bag of dicks and none deserve such huge influence over region that city will provide. Edit: Also forced screwing over Rauatai by killing their leadership in region if you went in solo? LOL
  • Dragons kinda were there, I guess? Payoff with them is in killing them? Maybe I missed something here, but didn't seem like saving them had any narrative purpose or impact.
That is stuff that I remember from right top of my head.

I would leap all over cyberpunk cRPG game if it was made by Larian.

They've said that clothing has stats, but we've yet to see V in a different outfit in some other form of gameplay.

I'm also curious if we at least have a mirror as we'd do irl to check ourselves out as we try on clothing.

Nice to see you here, Kyle, and congrats on the fantastic demo. I can't wait to play it!

Since you're involved in the gameplay, one thing I wanted V to do when she walked down the bridge (~41:40 in) was jump from railing to railing to dodge the enemy's gunfire. Is something that acrobatic going to be possible, or is that expecting a bit too much Ninja Gaiden?

The only thing I disliked was the wall jumping and praying mantis ability bullshit shown towards the end of the demo. It felt like too much and just wasn't needed.

Everything else looks fucking great. Well, other than the shadow pop-in but hopefully next gen consoles can fix that.

How is it bullshit? That kind of augmentation is only the tip of the iceberg for Cyberpunk

I'd imagine it's going to get even crazier. The endgame powers will be really powerful and interesting.

Kyle Rowley Great to have you here. If you can answer, will hacking be a full-fledged playstyle in the same way that direct combat is? That hacking interface was just gorgeous; I'm hoping hacking is more than just a minigame like it is in Deus Ex
