Yakuza 1 was the one with timed sidequests right? Did they update that in Kiwami so you can do them whenever you want? I'm okay with the amount of content in 1, although I wouldn't mind them adding more of course but I'm probably going to just do the story stuff.

I don't remember any timed stories. I think the last time the series had missable sub stories was in one of the ps3 games, like 3 and 4 I think. Some had stories that disappeared if you didn't do them by a certain chapter. It'll be interesting to see how they handle things like that in the remasters.

i was planning to buy this from GMG too but their refund policy is kind of confusing

https://www.greenmangaming.com/refund-policy/

if they're emailing you a steam code does that mean there's no way to refund it, even if you never activate it?
It's not that confusing really. Right now you would be pre-ordering the Steam key so you could get a refund so long as they don't send you the key. From my understanding the reason for this is because they buy the keys directly from SE, Valve gives SE (and devs that use Steam) the ability to make Steam keys, SE sells these keys to places like GMG (I'm guessing for a fixed price, not sure if as time goes on if they drop the price at which they sell it to GMG) and since Valve doesn't take a cut of the money made of these keys SE can sell them to GMG for between 70-50% of what they go for on Steam. The issue no is that if GMG send you one of these keys that they purchased from SE it's now a used product/ they are not going to just reissue keys sort of thing. So if they did a refund that key would no longer work (they would revoke the Steam key from your account and this has been know to happen in these cases). And now GMG made a loss on that key since they can't just get a refund from SE for the keys.

Does that sort of make sense? It's my interpretation any way so I could always be completely wrong

I recently got another job so I can buy games again!!! I guess I'm buying ZoE2 and 428 day one after all

So is 25% on GMG the best deal for DQXI? I was gonna wait but the closer we get to release day the more I'm tempted to just get it anyway.

Now that I finished the main campaign in Shenzhen I/O, I went back to Yakuza 0 and I can probably power through the last few chapters this week-end if I stop wasting all my goddamn playtime buying real estate and running a cabaret club lol.

Rise of the Tomb Raider - Uzzy

Swan diving off of really tall things has always been one of Lara's most graceful moves, so before Shadow of the Tomb Raider releases, why don't you show off how graceful you are by completing the following tasks in Rise of the Tomb Raider.

The Challenge:
Get the 'For My Next Trick' and 'No Guts, No Glory' achievements, and complete the 'High Diving' challenge. These are all accomplished in the Geothermal Thermal valley.

List of people who have completed it (send me a PM if completed!):

Some time ago there was a pricing error and it was something like $35USD, the most recent best deal was $41 USD on GMG
Can't see it getting much cheaper unless it suddenly pops up on Voidu.
As far as I can tell SE doesn't sell steam keys to them, if you want a good deal on SE games then the only option is GMG

They do seem to have Tomb Raider, Life is Strange and DQ Heroes II but no FFXV, so who knows what's going on.

Actually it could just be a reginal thing, I'm from NA and I don't see any of that on their store so maybe they have EU keys? Since I do know that some publishers make their keys restricted to certain areas

Alright, thanks. That's what I thought but I just wanted to make sure I wasn't overlooking one somewhere else. It's a bummer I missed that voucher on GMG, though, because at 41USD I'd be saving almost 30 bucks from the CAD price on Steam. As it is, I'm "only" saving ~20 bucks.

Oh and I kinda hate that GMG lists console games. It's like the third time that I search for DQ and get a mini heart attack because Dragon Quest Builders shows up in the search results lol.

I understand what you mean and also to be fair GMG is expanding and also have PS4 stuff, I don't think they always had that but I would assume that some people actually buy those code from them as well. I wonder if they will add Xbox Live and eshop later on.

I was wondering why SE didn't port DQB to PC, I'm guessing that they saw the sales numbers of the other DQ spin off and thought they were too low? Or maybe they didn't want to compete against Minecraft on it's home turf? If DQXI does more than decent sales wise we might get DQB2, I heard that has co-op and multiplayer so in theory that should sell well, well better than DQB1 ever likely will since I could imagine a lot of people complaining over the lack of multiplayer in the game

In case anyone is wondering, the bizarre "Tasks > Invisible" thing on Steam's taskbar right click menu is referring to "invisible" friends status.

I don't think it was there before and it confused the heck out of me.

I always assumed the only reason we even got Heroes was because it was made by Koei Tecmo and they already have a "shit out port" button ready to go. No reason to keep them from pushing it. I think the team that made Builders either had no experience porting to PC or no interest in doing so. I got a little hopeful again when the Switch port got announced but I think that already came out and then nothing. At this point I'm just glad we're getting DQXI. I don't even want to get my hopes up about ports of the older mainline games.

There seems to be some truth in that, from what I have seen KT games on Steam are some of the worst selling games form a "major" Japanese publisher. Some of XSEED games have low numbers but that's because all of those are niche to begin with. Even some of NISA stuff looks like it sells better than what KT sells.

Funny, KT seems to like PC even though some of their games hardly sell (Nioh is actually one of the best selling games that KT has on Steam, hopefully Nioh 2 gets released on Steam), then you have ATLUS who has some games that potentially could sell a lot (maybe not the OE games since it looks like DRPGs done in that format are just not that popular on Steam). I don't think KT actually even puts Denuvo on their games and I'm guessing that's because they don't want to spend any more money then is needed for the ports, which might explain the quality of some of them.

KT have built themselves a reputation of bad ports, have insane pricing in some regions and their games never really go on good sales.
It's not particularly surprising to see them not do well, though it's a shame because I'd like some of their output and their ports have been getting better, I think.

Seriously their newest releases are priced 70 fucking Euros. Dynasty Warriors 9 and AOT 2 are literally the most expensive 'regular' games on Steam in Europe (there are about 5 or 6 hardcore simulation games that are more expensive), which is just laughable.

Yeah, Nioh was a decent port as far as I'm concerned. And they eventually fixed Atelier Sophie's low res assets. Almost a year later but better late than never, I guess.

The pricing and lack of good discounts is definitely an issue, though. I thoroughly enjoyed Atelier Sophie and Attack on Titan and would love to play their sequels but I'm not paying that much for them. Especially this long after launch. Even Blue Reflection, which was a major bomb, hasn't dropped to a reasonable price yet. They could be doing much better if they actually gave a shit.

So, I saw some people got recently blacklisted by Giftbot. Considering I had a month cooldown after "winning" the Chairmanchuck giveaway and I recently entered a couple of giveaways for trash games just to see if the jail time ended and won nothing, I wonder if I got blacklisted too. What is causing the blacklist anyway? Is there someone still able to win something from Giftbot? On GAF I gave away thousands of games, here I simply hate giving away stuff because there is always something wrong with Giftbot, like it being down, something wrong with the submission format, dupliacate giveaways etc.

I'm just peaking out of the dank wow hole I've been living in to say that if that duck boar xcom game isn't good I'm slapping someone.

Probably a Australian, they deserve it the most.

The GiftBot seems to be down

FYI, giftbot is currently down, dealing with some database issues. Will update when the issues have been resolved. Apologies for the inconvenience.

I don't think I'll be getting VC4 soon due to my backlog :/
Hopefully it'll have a nice discount come the Winter Seal.
...and MAYBE I'll consider getting Ys 8 too if it goes for 33% off at least.

NISA hasn't discounted the PS4 version in a year since release. Not even by 5% off.

Sorry for the problems, I've been swamped with IRL work and the db issues need some more time. Fingers crossed I'll get it fixed up this weekend.

What if I already gifted one thing. Do I need to wait? Last time it was in maintenance I just gave away the keys without Giftbot and then 3 days later a giveaway was created.

Also please add some "trashbot" command for people to raffle away bundle "trash".

Send me the URLs to the PMs you sent to Giftbot (the conversation id is what I'm looking for) and I'll make sure they don't get posted when it comes back up.

EDIT: And yes, I just need some time to work on this. There are a few things in the pipeline that have taken precedence and that's why there's been delays. I appreciate your patience :)

So or Jo? I found So was actually not that hard, if you are able to evade his cannon attacks, and at the helicopter stage you really just need to look out for those gold whatever-they-are thingies that make you (or him!) invincible.

With So, there really isn't any easy thing, you just need to be able to counter his combos, evade when that is impossible and simply outfight him. Even in Normal that was super hard (I'd make sure you have that stone equipped that brings you back to life once)

Well, I've finally finished Yakuza 0 (with a ~85% completion and all substories completed) and over a 100h (according to steam, and i can't trust the ingame time because early on i crashed when I was doing the pocket circuit side quests).

I didn't expect that I'd end up playing so much, but man I've really enjoyed the game.

I guess they thought it would be too easy with a cursor? No clue, really.
You might wanna reduce the difficulty for that section. On Hard, you have to do all of it on the same life bar, and it won't reset for the second part of it. It's a fun section, but not when you need to do it 5 times.

I'm playing on Normal anyway and I completed it already.
But I loathe aiming with a controller. Fucking hate it. And aiming with WASD is even worse. I'm going to complain loudly on the Steam forums in a while. Because, seriously.
Fuck this shit.

Weekly recap of a prodigal son returning to the PC gaming:

# I'm still playing Civ5 for the first time. Put in 7 hours so far.

"Hey Sid...you...uh, you got any more of them turns? C'mon man, I just need one more turn, you know I'm good for it..."

dave-chappelle-junkie-yall-got-anymore-of.jpg

source.gif

# Added these games to my Steam wish list:

Insurgency: Sandstorm
Warface
Tyranny
Expeditions: Viking
NITE Team 4
Spire of Sorcery
Pathfinder: Kingmaker
Six Ages: Ride Like The Wind

# I got EU4: Muslim Adivors Icons DLC for 50p from Humble. Paradox are gonna clean me out...

Side note: I listened to a Paradox podcast a couple weeks ago where the hosts were interviewing someone high up who works for the company, and the guy was unrepentent about their DLC policy, he literally calls critics 'whiners' and says the first thing Paradox thinks about when designing DLC is asking "is this feature essential to the game? If so, put it behind a paywall." The hosts try to interject and give the guy a way out of the hole he's digging, but he's like "no, no, if it's important we put it behind a paywall. Of course we do, we want them to pay for it."

I'm paraphrasing the guy, but it's basically the jist of what he says, and it made me laugh out loud at how he gave no fucks at all. I mean, I get it, they're a business first and foremost, what they do absolutey works, and it funds more games and DLC, but...some decorum please...
