Truth be told, if I were Mitsuda, I wouldn't want to be credited for the hackjob that was the PS1 port.

Yeah. For years, people have been boosting Kato as the "writer of Chrono Trigger" and Horii rarely gets mentioned by anybody. If people knew how involved he was with their "greatest RPG ever made," maybe they'd be more willing to actually try a Dragon Quest game.

Thankfully I'm waiting for a bit after launch to get Spiderman since I'll be buying used (got >£50 in CEX vouchers) so that won't be an issue for me. Having given up on Octopath and since Kiwami 2 should be done by then I should have a free enough palate for a massive JRPG like this.
I can see it. I can see more of an overlap of fans deciding between Octopath Traveler and DQXI, than overlap of DQXI/Tomb Raider/Spiderman fans.
A little salty they didn't release it this Tuesday or today, though. 3 day weekend!
I'll try! It was totally in jest obviously... I'll be grabbing DQ11 on PS4 at launch but probably renting Spider-Man later down the line. I'm definitely more of a DQ kind of guy than a Marvel guy.
All this hype makes me really wish I had the time to go back and properly play all of the other games in the franchise. I 100 percented DQVIII on the PS2 but my only other experience with the franchise was renting Dragon Warrior 1 on the NES 30 years ago and not getting very far. Maybe one day soon I'll back and play Dragon Warrior 1-3 on the NES at least if I ever find the time.
Well the day's almost over and still nothing, so unless they somehow get it to me same-day on Tuesday, I doubt I'm getting it on release day. :(

so people who have ordered from GMG, once they email you your code, do you have no way of preserving your 7 day refund option? there's no way to pre-order and like, avoid revealing the code until you want sorta like how humble does it?
I have ordered many games from GMG and have always had plenty of time to download the game. I'm guessing we should have them on or before Sunday.
Right there with you guys. If it doesn't ship today no way we're getting it Tuesday with Monday being a holiday(at least in the US). I'm probably going to have to get a regular copy if I want to play Tuesday or Wednesday.

I really want to preorder it on GMG for the discount but am worried about PC performance of the port, regardless of the requirements suggesting 60 FPS. I also have a PS4 Pro and saw the stuff about the grass and things getting blurry because of the checkerboarding.

Got the same issue. Though, I can play on my 4KTV but I'm fearing a bad port. NNK2 was okish port, PC HDR saves it. But in that case...
