The Maps You'll Be Fighting On – and The Game Modes You'll Tackle
The snowy Norwegian landscapes of the Arctic Fjord map return from our recent Closed Alphas, and here you'll be able to play both Conquest and two "days" of the Grand OperationFall of Norway. Those are in-game days, by the way – not the 24-hour kind. Grand Operations contain several of these days, with one game mode featured in each.

In Fall of Norway, Day 1 will be spent in the Airborne mode, where you'll paradrop down to the battlefield and be on either side of a fight where explosives are deployed on control points. Day 2 features Breakthrough, where your team either attacks or defends vital sectors. In this mode, stay aggressive and tactical as an attacker – or use on-the-fly planning to keep the enemy at bay when defending.

Then there's new scenery to explore: Rotterdam. You'll fight in the streets of the Dutch city in its pristine, pre-war state before battles left it in devastation. Deploy on this map and try the signature Battlefield game mode: Conquest. Returning to classic rules, Conquest is a 64-player fight where two teams fight for control over key flags on the map. Hold the majority of these points to drain the opposition's score and win the day.

Company will embark on a journey through themed, different chapters of World War 2, filled with events. With each chapter of Tides of War, players will have all-new ways to play while also being able to earn the latest and greatest themed Battlefield V vanity items. The Open Beta will be your first early look at how parts of the Tides of War will work.

You will take part in the Shock Troops Chapter Event, and by completing its challenges during the Open Beta (but before September 9) you can earn the unique Tides of War Beta Dog Tag. The Dog Tag will be awarded in Battlefield V if you decide to get the game. Note that the Shock Troops Chapter Event will only be part of the Open Beta, not the final game.

You should know that the Shock Troops Chapter Event is just a small taste of Tides of War – much, much more is coming. Make sure to give us your feedback on how the flow of playing these challenges feels like.

How confident are we that the times are correct?

When they posted the official times for the reveal trailer launch, they got them wrong (DICE posted times as being CET when they were actually CEST, etc.).

EDIT: I see that their poster just lists the UTC times. I guess they don't trust themselves any more :)

Small overlap with BLOPS 4 Blackout(Sept 10th), no doubt intentional and maybe smart get people into the game before the BLOPs beta starts, maybe keep them and get them to miss that beta.

Holy shit. This like DICE LA when they took over Battlefield 4 and fixed all over again. Love it.

Something Im still really eager to find out, but there seems to be no info:

-What are the gameplay attachments, if any, in this game (Outside scopes)?

I know theres some weird skill tree that freely gives u faster reloading and rapid fire, but can you individually customize guns to attach a rapid fire mod or a faster reloading mod?

Is the skill tree a perk tree? Will we have attachments that give us a bigger magazine size, or increase ADS speed, or speed up movement while aimed in, improve hipfire, and all that other traditional content? I assume grips are at least in?

Or is everything tied to the skill tree where in you have to spec the guns to fill a certain role, and then respec to change the performance?

Oh great, I can get in on the same day as Forsaken! The hell is EA thinking? Should've been Monday.

So if you preorder, when can you use your code?

Honestly, what does it say about a company if they put out a poster for their reveal trailer event, and get the times wrong, and then put out a blog entry detailing their public Beta start time, and mess the times up again? I know these are small things, but this doesn't exactly fill me with confidence that this company is all about attention to detail.

What sort of time formats are these?

OK, this gets better and better.

Does anyone actually know when the Beta starts and finishes? Because the quoted image says very clearly that it starts (for early access) on September 4 @ 0800 UTC, and finishes on September 11 @ 1400 UTC.

But EA DICE now have an official Event on the PlayStation Network, and it says very clearly that it starts (for early access) on September 4 @ 0400 UTC, and finishes on September 11 @ 2100 UTC.

Maybe it's just me, but if you want to improve your communication, maybe communicating the correct start and finish times for your big public Beta would be an excellent place to start. I wouldn't have thought that was overly difficult, but here we are.

Say what you want about this game, but gameplay wise this is looking mighty fine. The PR is a disaster i agree but the rest looks promising.

Right when Spider-Man drops. Merp, guess I won't be trying this one out before launch.

Honestly with the delay and the frankly astoundingly detailed patch notes, I'm starting to regain my faith in this game. Every issue I personally had in the closed alpha is being aggressively addressed, and I can't wait to squad up with my friends.

Did they rename the Narvik map to arctic fjord or is that a translation thing?
