I guess I'm weird because normally when I listen to music, what I need to begin enjoying a song is an enjoyable beat or melody. Without that it won't matter to me what the lyrics are, it's already in the ground. Once that's established, I can enjoy some of the worst lyrics so long as the beat itself is good. But if the lyrics and beat are both great? The best. I'm really enjoying this album because I appreciate lots of the beats. Lyrics are okay when I can understand what's being said. As opposed to Revival which had not a single melody that was fun to listen to.

Nah, what?

Like you wrote this whole thing about " he can't write catchy songs no more, all he do is rappy rap " and its like " Maybe... people like that " Maybe people like his less pop " Stadium rap approach " I mean that would explain why people prefer this over his last output. Your whole post sounds weirdly upset like you are waging some war against eminem and i'm just like " Maybe... people just think his music is neat , that's why people vouch for him " and that's... it?

I think I loved Revival more than this overall, but the great songs on here were better than the great songs on there

That opening track was phenomenal

If the album had been 10 songs (stopping with Fall), it might have been his best album of the decade imo but Venom is...well,. And I'm not a Jessie Reyez fan

I went into this with the lowest expectations. That being the case, I'm pleasantly surprised. I've been jumping around and I've enjoyed most of the tracks I've heard. Even that Venom track for some reason. I loled when I heard that chorus tho but I'm into it for some reason. I didn't think Em had this in him anymore.

Yeah lmao the chorus sounds so damn funny. It reminds me of a child trying to say the word so fast because they don't know how to quickly pronounce it.

The album is actually pretty good and I haven't liked an Eminem album in over a decade.

I like that the album is only 11 songs (not counting the skits). I can't deal with 18+ track albums anymore.

This is easily one of my favorite Em albums in I don't know how long. I've only gone through it once, but the top half of the album standouts for me for sure.

Chicago
How many more times can he pull that corny shit where he spends half of his new album trashing his last album? At least it's unlike when he trashed Relapse on Recovery because he's right when he calls out Revival for being garbage.
Dre didn't have any input on this. He's just the EP.
Ah, maybe there's still hope then.

Haha yeah it's common with him, which goes to show that he quite often thinks a lot of his previous material sucks. I wonder how he'd rank his own albums or what are some of his favorite tracks.

Now that I've finished this album, what are some other good albums from other artists that have released this year or last? I haven't really listened to much hip hop since Forest Hills Drive by J Cole, which happened to be my favorite of the genre in a very long time and probably still is.

He could solve this problem if he'd just take direction from someone with an ear for musical composition. There's a clear reason why his first three albums are what they are. There's nobody around him telling him he's not good at doing it by himself. He's just picking beats and rapping like a random Soundclick rapper in 2002.

Probably my favorite release of his since The Eminen Show, which is really not saying much but it's nice to hear something listenable from Eminem.

Yeah, I do think that's his way of choosing something to rap on, although with this album there's a big departure in melody and beat from his previous two albums. They're much better IMO.

It's a lot more listenable than Revival was overall. Eminem is just, I dunno, a kinda gross nostalgia thing for me since I was the right age when he was 'good', but even with that Revival was just too sonically disgusting to listen to. With this, I won't be listening to it for long or anything, but I actually like some of the beats and his voice isn't constantly annoying on this, it's only intermittently annoying and occasionally nice, and the lyrics aren't as frequently cringeworthy.

So yeah, I guess it's an improvement but it's not like this is some kind of rebirth into great new music we should all hear. It's just a respectable effort by someone in their later career who doesn't have anything interesting left to say and is playing catch up with the yoots. I don't really give a shit about the melodramatics of pop music feuds and that is a lot of the lyrical content on this so while he is rapping in a way I like more here, what he's actually saying is still boring to me. I can see how it would be fun for someone who follows all of that stuff.

Budden won't respond. Budden is retired.

Not only that but Budden don't want that smoke. Budden knows em would kill him bar for bar. Hes stated say multiple times. But it wont keep him from expressing his opinion on things

Also Budden and Em are friends through friends and Em use to be his boss.

Not gonna lie, that Venom song is quite catchy. It's not amazing but it isn't shit either. Was expecting shit tier. Glad it wasn't. Also, it sounds like it's a song that's played right when the credits roll.

We have come a long way that Eminem has to diss people like Budden or Akademiks on a track ...lol he big mad.

And yeah ...we knew that D12 was dead....it's freaking 2018 lol.
