If it helps, he was a special unlockable character in X-Men Mutant Academy 2, making him an honorary mutant. Also Mutant Academy 2 will surely be tested for science right?

there's probably a questionably "phoning it in" component, but my understanding is he also absolutely does just want people to go to his concerts and buy the orchestral soundtracks because he makes all that money

as someone whose prior DQ experience is uhhhh Rocket Slime, it's gonna be weird
it looks like the orchestral soundtrack has several songs from the game combined into one track without distinctly cutting between them, so they'll need to be edited into different songs somehow, and there's also reused songs from older games that may have their own orchestral versions that'll have to be sourced
so it might happen but it's not gonna be a smooth experience, at least at first

Monster is one of my all-time favourite Eminem singles. In fact TMMLP 2 was one of my favourite rap albums of recent years. It was also critically very well received, for what that's worth.
Sure, he's had more misses than hits since Encore but to reduce Eminem to 'early 00s edginess' is way too extreme. He's a near universal pick as a top five rapper of all-time. Top ten at absolute worst.

Kendrick Lemar is seriously talented but something about his nassally voice makes him sound like a sinister grandad on most of his songs, to me.
I think with the way rap has structurally and lyrically evolved so fast over the last 30 years it's hard to really compare artists like Grandmaster Flash or old LL Cool J with even Biggie or Tupac, let alone the sort of complex rhyming schemes of an Eminem or Lemar, not to get to real or nothin'.

Eminem is the greatest storyteller rap has ever seen. I think when he's gone people will look back and realise just how good he is and how unique his ability to tell a story while filling it with interesting and complex rhymes is.
Lose Yourself is quite literally the best rap song ever committed to tape IMHO.
He's my favourite rapper of all-time and would be my personal pick for the best of all-time too.

The opening verse on Lose Yourself is fucking incredible. Every single bar is full of internal and external multi-syllabic rhymes, while at the same time it tells a very clear story.
I'm one of those basic people that loves Lose Yourself and Stan but am not much of a fan of his other stuff. When he tells a story, he's great.
I mean I started talking about it because we were talking about Spiderman and I brought it up because today he said he was doing a song for venom.

his material that was coming out between 97-02 was really impressive. the stretch from his horrorcore shit on the Slim Shady EP til the drugged out madness of Marshall Mathers LP is pretty impressive - really clever wordplay and flow, and he manages to channel his voice into something that sounds cutting instead of grating
