By revenue nes classic didn't win. Which is the more important number.
It probably won by the most important number though.By revenue nes classic didn't win. Which is the more important number.
Europe/PAL basically just counterbalanced America. The real deciding factor was Japan, where the PS brand isn't exactly strong but it's also not nothing like Xbox.It really is. And it's crazy that the Xbox 360 had an almost 17 mio lead in NA and still got outsold by the PS3 worldwide.
Just shows you how strong the PS brand is in Europe and Co.
This is the shocking thing to me.The iterative consoles are certainly having a big positive impact for both companies.
They sure are.
This is the shocking thing to me.
I remember ppl laughing at Pro being 1/5 of PS4s sold. Guessing it's higher than they now.
Same for the One X.

Every indication I've seen (and I'd be happy for Mat to chime in on this and tell me that I'm wrong) is that the upgrade consoles each make up about 20% of the total consoles sold for both Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
That is a 2 year old figure and only applied to the ps4 Pro.
I'm sure the ratio has changed since then.
LMAO, I actually got this reference. The real irony is this is likely true.
Yup. Both are higher than that on average now days it's an outdated figure
That said the current PS4 Pro shortages are having a negative impact on its split
IIRC the main reason was Japan. I mean, 360 also sold 40 million outside of US. That's more than the One has right now in total. It really is. And it's crazy that the Xbox 360 had an almost 17 mio lead in NA and still got outsold by the PS3 worldwide.

Before this causes inevitable confusion for those who don't follow NPD threads, the Xbox One is mentioned because it has the strongest growth year on year following a dreadful 2017. However this doesn't mean the Xbox One is the "strongest performer" or that it is outpacing the PS4, which the Games Industry article doesn't even bother to inform it's still the best selling console in the US in 2018. While in progress compared to 2017, the Xbox One is also behind the Switch for the year.
If anyone reads this article casually without much knowledge of the trends, he can easily thinks that the PS4 has nothing to do with how great the market is doing right now. You can't just talk about the growth year on year without explaining the full picture.
X in terms of revenue, and having better releases than 2017 (Phantom Dust remaster, Forza 7, Halo Wars 2, Cuphead ... I literally can't think of anything else). What is driving Xbox YoY growth? The X? I assume it has to be.
Cool, thanks. I seem to remember that Mat said the ratios were similar for the upgrade consoles, is that true?
You can use the same saves over multiple releases so you basically buy for the improvements

If i remember right that figure was for WW so it could still be the case .
Also @Pswitch it's only a year only data not two years
Do PC sales count for GTA V? If yes, then that would explain why the game keeps ranking. I've been seeing the game at less than $20 these past few months and I already bought it for the third time (PS3, PS4 and now PC) because I got for like $15 mainly because I want to play it at 60fps as well as try some mods. I wouldn't be surprised if others are doing the same.
GTAV keeps charting because it's one of the first games people buy when they buy a PS4/XBO.
This kind of stuff is the reason I've been considering stopping posting on the forum sometime in the near future. The level of discourse has gotten extremely rough. I'm trying to hold out but idk if it's worth it really
On topic it's been a tremendous year so far for the industry in 2018. Hardware growth has been great to see, particularly from the Xbox One. People really take for granted how special and important it is we have 3 VERY healthy platforms right now all offering different experiences an strategies. Its why cross console ownership is so high, because all 3 platforms offer a unique spin on the industry.
Don't leave Benji! You and a few other peeps make this stuff an actual discussion instead of "Well obviously my e-peen is bigger I bought the PS4! THE SALES WINRAR!"
I could also raise the level of discourse by making a few KY jelly jokes... but I'll admit it's been a few years since I wore the assless chaps necessary for the mindset.
I know you don't want to but I can't encourage you enough to make use of the ignore button. It might sound "coward" but there is no point to argue with people that are arguing in bath faith. Like at all.
It is always the same usual suspects that make some thread unreable/derailed. They don't deserve your frustration.
Always the same people too. It's often easy to just look at the name/avatar and predict what kind of post these individuals will make or what kind of « joke » they'll find funny.
Crazy how people gets annoyed just because isn't your preferred console that is being highlighted in the news.
Btw, first half of 2018 was the best for Xbox One since launch, so the good performance of this year isn't just because 2017 was weak. The console is healthy on the market, as PS4 and Switch, that's awesome for the industry and for the players.
Man. Thank goodness for that first two thread pages. I almost thought Xbox was viable. Thanks for setting me straight. Was a close one.
God forbid I venture outside of platform-specific threads.
How are there not red mod warnings on half these posts?
At least two people in this thread seem to be _very_ upset with Xbox's turnaround and positive outlook. If these results make you upset already, then brace yourselves for the coming years ;)
Do you know how its attach rate looks in comparison to MK8's on the the Wii U?Switch - Mario Kart 8 - Top 10 YTD, no signs of slowing down at all. Not super surprising that it's an evergreen, but it's like evergreen+++.

PS4 - God of War. Complete outlier in both metacritic as well as sales performance. No game like it should sell this well when you look at the rest of the market. Absolutely separating itself in just about every way when it comes to sales performance. Never would have seen this level of performance coming. Truly remarkable. Honorable mention to Detroit: Become Human.
Given the meteoric expansion of eShop (1000 titles and counting?) is that really the case, or are we just talking notable indies which happen to do well/better than other store-fronts?
It is astounding, the people falling all over themselves to pat Spencer on the back for the amazing growth this year that is equally attributable to them tanking last year's sales by announcing the X over a year before release.
Driving factors for Xbox One sales I'm 2018 are not deals from all data I've seen.
It's the combo of X, Game Pass, and Fortnite. Also just consumers feeling better about the brand in general

PS4 still dominating I see. Well deserved as it's been very strong on the new, high quality software front for quite some time now. Long may the run continue.
Also, reading this article was like some Xbox One = Roman Reigns shit.

Most months they are in a similar range yes.
However that is changing as PS4 Pro continues to face shortages
It's best we leave it all in the box.
Do we know why the Pro is getting hit with so many shortages? Issues with manufacturing?
I was wondering, did you have eshop numbers but aren't allowed to share them, or did you have nothing at all?
do you think MK8 is on the trajectory to beat out MK Wii?
P.S. I don't participate in these threads much but I always enjoy and appreciate your analysis and insight, so thank you.

And maybe you should get some reading comprehension skills. I said equally attributable and growth for a reason. Since nuance and not cherry picked data points is too tough for you, I'll let you get back to the hyperbolic sensationalism that is this thread.
