I was gonna write something long, but I'm gonna stick to basics here.

This is dumb and people upset over a puddle moving and lighting changes are also dumb.

I figured it out. Ratchet wanted to stay as Insomniac's most successful franchise and Spider-Man is a well liked obvious threat in the gaming and movie space to him.

So he used the Hydrodisplacer to soak up the puddles.

They have been completely upfront. They've explained why it looks different and are actually trying to be cordial and reply to the people @ing them on Twitter about this

But that's just means they're lying and trying to save face because you see, devs would never admit there's a downgrade, they should just tell gamers the truth

To be fair, something seems off in the release images. Reflections don't seem to be as good, water (ie complex environment) is certainly a lot more prominent there and lightning seems "flatter".

That said I don't particularly care on a personal level and it wouldn't atop me from enjoying Spider-Man.
