I've got great news if you love puddles.
Pfft they don't even reflect half the objects on screen.
Depends why it's not as good. As long as the animations, textures, models, density, and stuff are still there or the same/better quality how are we suppose to argue whether or not Spiderman looks better shiny or not

Witcher 3 did the same thing denying the downgrade. Just saying. I'm not saying they are lying but at the end of the day they want your business. No company will ever admit "yeah we downgraded this".
I'm sure the game will turn out great but people are way too invested to have an actual discussion. It's either no downgrade at all or game is ruined by missing puddles.

Some gamers feel empowered by shit like this to the point that they start seeing what want to see. Everything is a cause.
How can they show the same scene to prove it isn't downgraded when they said they changed the scene? Of course they are showing other spots with puddles to show that it was a decision they made for that specific area. If they had to remove the puddle from that one specific spot on the building, why would there be lots more puddles in other spots? The lighting was changed as well. This is a game with set weather/TOD so it's pretty reasonable to surmise that they made an artistic decision to change the sun placement when that scene is taking place compared to the older version.
This I'd liked answered by the 'Team Downgrade' people: If Insomniac was trying to deceive people, why would they show the same exact place in two different trailers, closer to the game's release if it was downgraded? Wouldn't that be something you'd intentionally obfuscate? It makes no sense if there was a downgrade that they'd leave it in. They thought nothing of it because they just made artistic changes that only they know the reasons for.

You're point was stupid to begin with, it was well undermined by a simple question.
The more I follow these reactions, the more myopic I realize people can be in this hobby, and I feel like it's in pursuit of a misguided sense that "big companies" need to be put in their place. This degree of negativity is insane and demoralizing. I think the best thing people can do, given what's happening, is to politely but firmly call out this shit whenever you see it. Honestly, even that IGN write-up doesn't contextualize the half dozen obvious explanations for why there could be reasonable differences between the images. There's (deserved) mockery in the headline, but I think they need to go further to help anyone in their editorial niche understand why this is such nonsense. I don't think this is the time to bow to the absurdity; this vapid negativity about something so inconsequential is increasingly shrill.

It literally has nothing to do with the puddle. People are mad that the AO, shadows and detail due to indirect lighting were changed. Not removed but changed. Saying it was only down to a puddle is misleading.
